Carson has been an instrumental piece of the Hudsonville program this season, and has led their improbable run this far into the season. He’ll have to have another great performance this weekend against a stout Rochester Adams defense. Carson has a great release and ability to run clean routes, cut quickly and flash great hands. There are a lot of traits to love that makes me think he could come up huge this week in a big time spot and bolster this team to Ford Field!

Dykstra has put in so much work over the years, and I’m so happy to see it paying off.
He’s WR1 for Hudsonville; no question about it. First off, Carson has an excellent release and consistently great route running. He knows how to get out of press coverage, and he knows how to earn separation with great footwork on all of his routes.
Carson is also ever-improving after the catch. He earns a lot of targets over the middle of the field and does a solid job of trying to evade tackles via jukes, stutter-steps, etc.
Carson is not the most gifted athlete, but he’s made up for it with extremely consistent work over the years. For most of his career, I viewed him as a Division 3 prospect. Now, he’s getting into D2 territory.

I was happy to see Carson perform extremely well. As I’ve said a couple of times recently, I’ve seen Carson make dramatic improvements to his game over the past year and a half.
I recorded Carson’s 30-yard touchdown. During that play, he gained some momentum with pre-snap motion before exploding into his post route and securing the wide-open TD. Better yet, he left a very highly-touted Sophomore DB in the dust on that play.
You’ll see similar plays on Carson’s hudl. Explosive routes, great change of direction, and a MUCH improved player compared to previous years.
Carson is entering GLIAC prospect territory for me, but I still lean MIAA (D3) for Carson. No matter where he ends up going, I could easily see Carson continuing to improve and eventually becoming a phenomenal college football player.

- Another guy who I know has put in the work
- Has improved athleticism and route-running significantly over the past year and a half
- Looking for Carson to potentially convert an explosive open-field play as he did against Rockford
- Blocking?
- Leadership?

I’m extremely happy to see Carson earn offers from Davenport and Calvin. This is someone that I’ve seen countless times over the years and someone I’ve seen steadily improve. As soon as a few weeks ago, I watched Carson and noted great improvements from last year. His hands, foot speed, release, routes, and general athleticism have all improved since last summer. Carson is slowly but surely becoming a very good Z receiver, though he could also play X if needed.

and he had a weekend that was impressive from start to finish. Now, we didn’t get a chance to catch every single game that they played between Saturday and Sunday. But from what we did catch in person and what we’ve seen in terms of highlights and talking with other staff, Dykstra was one of the more consistent wide receivers for this squad in Tennessee. One thing that stood out to us when seeing some of the clips from Dykstra is just how often he slips behind a defense and then you find him all alone in the back of the end zone with another touchdown. There’s a high on-field IQ with him.
