Luke is one of the most impressive players I got to see last season. He has continued to evolve over the last few years and has put himself on the map as a 2-way star. Defensively is where I see the highest upside for Luke, and I think the recent offers would agree. Phenomenal first step, great hand placement and a plethora of tools to work with. Swim, spin, rip. You name it, Brodnicki has it in his back pocket. He has continued to build his body up, and is now at a great height and weight to be an absolutely dominant force. I cannot wait to see where he takes his game this fall.

Brodnicki is a big body 3 tech who displayed good footwork and some sneaky athleticism throughout the drill periods. At 265 pounds I was impressed by his ability to start and stop without a hitch in movement. Luke lining up at TE for Hudsonville is not surprising as he is strong enough to be used in the run game and nimble enough to be a downfield threat. I expect Luke to continue his versatility on both sides of the ball as he can be used as a 1, 3 & 4 tech in my opinion.

Luke was a major piece of Hudsonville’s state championship run.
Against elite run offenses, Luke performed. Teams like Grandville and Howell struggled to run inside, largely because of how well Luke is able to anchor himself and tackle. He’s one of those guys who seems near impossible to move. Even against great offensive linemen, it was a struggle moving Luke out of the way.
Near-elite run stopper. If Luke improves his athletic ability and polishes a couple of pass rush moves, he could be an amazing D2 or MAC prospect in a year’s time.

I’m happy to have gotten a good look at Luke today. In the positional drills, Luke was as good as any. Looked decently quick, worked hard, and was all-around a step faster than the pack.
One-on-ones were hit or miss. Luke featured a solid inside swim move and a cross chop that won on a couple of occasions. When the initial move would fail, Luke would oftentimes fall back on a spin move. Luke won more times than he lost, but still needs to work on perfecting his moves, plus getting better at countering when the primary move doesn’t go his way.
Still, Luke has excellent run-stopping tape and really made his money in the run game. Interested in seeing if Luke ends up being more of a 5-tech or a 2i-3 tech moving forward- he got reps all over the defensive line. Still a year until most D2s and below take a super close look at Luke. Confidenet he’ll show even more improvement in a year’s time.

Luke Brodnicki Luke Brodnicki 6'3" | 235 lbs | DL Hudsonville | 2027 State MI jumped up to our #1 defensive lineman in this class, and it’s pretty easy to see why. Hudsonville has started to pump out a ton of talent, and it looks like Luke could one with the highest ceiling.
Brodnicki is a high motor guy who is able to own his gaps and shed blocks to be a run stuffer inside. He fires off low and gets a great first step, putting him in great position against slower offensive linemen. He shows the capability to utilize a strong punch and a few solid moves to break through the line and live in backfields. He has the size, strength and drive to be a highly sought after prospect in this class.

Who knew- West Michigan has some DUDES!
I went into this rankings update not knowing a whole lot about Luke. Though he really, really stands out in his highlight tape. He fires off the ball very quickly, has a wide tackle radius, and is decent at shedding blocks. That’s really the one and only problem I have- Luke needs to get used to shedding blocks against very good interior linemen. That means learning how to move his feet and hands simultaneously. Though, this plays a much larger role in his pass rush than it does his run stopping.
Against the run, Luke does a phenomenal job of anchoring down, keeping his eyes in the backfield, and attacking the running back if he crosses an adjacent gap. There are several great highlights where Luke stops an accelerating RB in his tracks.
This evaluation was a bit jumbled. In short, Luke does a phenomenal job of stopping the inside run, while I expect his pass rush needs some work. Also, I know he’s a very hard worker. I’ve heard nothing but great things about Luke in that regard.

Luke has an opportunity to be the best defensive lineman in the OK Conference next season.
As a sophomore, Luke already made a huge impact. Just look at the highlight at 1:14- solid getoff, great swim move, and earns the QB pressure. Not many sophomore defensive tackles move that quick. Then, at 1:20, Luke sheds the block with a great push-pull move and earns a great tackle. At 1:29, he splits a double team. I could go on and on.
Awesome highlights- Luke WILL be ranked during the next update!
