Melton probably won’t play many snaps on Fridays this season, but he’s listed on Hough’s varsity roster and has the upside to compete. He’s a versatile defender, spending most of his time at safety. He’ll likely grow a few more inches over the next few years, and given his build, hips, and footwork, I wonder if he’ll work some at corner, too. Given Hough’s track record for producing quality defensive backs, Melton should continue to develop and come closer to reaching his ceiling.
