We mentioned earlier how the strength of the Union defense could come from the secondary, with the majority of their returning starters coming from that area. Union senior cornerback

is one of those returning starters and he’s really turned a corner in the last six months as a prospect on the defensive side of the ball. Cunningham has gone from a good cornerback prospect to a great one and one of the best in his class. And because of that, Cunningham saw his recruitment absolutely explode and recently committed to Boston College. Cunningham has definitely been a name to watch within this Union defense and will be this fall.

is another defensive back that made a significant jump in the latest ranking update. Cunningham is a prospect that we’ve liked for a couple years now and he’s continued to elevate his game over the last two seasons. His recruitment has been steady and he has a good reputation as a lockdown corner that can do a lot of things well at that position. Earlier this month, Cunningham took an official visit to Boston College and within a week, he was committed to the Eagles. Union’s secondary lost some talent to graduation but it feels like they have just as much talent returning in 2024. And that conversation can start with this senior standout.

and he uses that speed to his advantage against every wide receiver he comes across. Cunningham will play for 918 Elite and is one of the faster prospects in the state’s 2025 class and he has the chance to really take his recruitment to the next level this offseason. It’s already starting to pick up some momentum and Cunningham has also experienced success this offseason during the indoor track season. Cunningham is a very intriguing prospect to watch this weekend.

could have a very big spring and summer. He’s already having an outstanding offseason on the track and participating in 7v7 tournaments. Cunningham is one of the fastest prospects in the state’s 2025 class. He dominated in the indoor track state championships and has recorded some incredibly fast times. Cunningham could very well be the next up in terms of Union defensive backs that are primed for the next level. The Redhawks have done a very good job of producing those players over the last decade in the secondary. Cunningham should get a lot of attention from coaches this spring and summer.

being a breakout star for the Jenks Trojans during the 2022 season. The signs were all there and pointing to Cunningham being one of the top defensive backs in Class 6A-1. Fast forward to today, and Cunningham moved from Jenks to rival Union and we’re very interested to see what kind of impact he has. The Redhawks lost some valuable experience within their secondary but they also have quite a bit of firepower at cornerback and safety. So how Cunningham gets used this season within the Union defensive scheme will be something worth paying attention to. We think that Cunningham has all the physical tools to be one of the better corners in Class 6A-1 and he started showing that last season.

, who moved from #38 overall to #24 overall and he’s holding on to the #2 spot for defensive backs. Cunningham was a player who absolutely exploded in 2022. The Trojans needed some new names to step up, specifically at cornerback and Cunningham earned his spot on the field. Speed is the number one trait that Cunningham has. He’s currently in track and he’s already putting together some really impressive times. Combine that legitimate track speed with his ability to cover a wide receiver and make plays in the open field, Cunningham is definitely a name to remember moving into the spring and summer. Every time we watched Cunningham in person in 2022, he was routinely one of the best athletes on the field.Access all of Prep Redzone

, who is enjoying a breakout season on defense and in special teams. Cunningham sprinted off the edge and got a hand on Mustang’s field goal that could have sent the game to overtime. Earlier this season, he blocked the PAT attempt from Broken Arrow in overtime that would have sent the game into double overtime. But it’s not just his special team exploits that makes him one to watch. In the regular season meeting, Cunningham stood out several times at the cornerback position against the Spartans. Cunningham is turning into an absolute star and he’ll look to make more big plays on Friday.

was in the summer when we got our preseason questionnaire back from the Trojans. In the section discussing the strongest and fastest players on the team, Cunningham was listed as the fastest member of the Trojan football team. Cunningham is definitely a defensive back on the rise when you combine his size and speed. And as we’ve mentioned several times this fall, the Trojans have been absolutely snake bit by injuries throughout the season but Cunningham has played incredibly well throughout the year. Cunningham has legitimate track speed and he’s been clocked at running the 40 yard dash in 4.4 seconds. That’s showcasing the burners. As Cunningham evolves as a defensive back, combining that with his speed, he’s going to be a prospect on the rise.
