should be in college at this point. He’s one of those players that stood out to us early on in his career and made big plays in big games and it’s crazy to think that he still has one year of high school ball ahead of him. Looking at this Union roster, Castellanos is hands down the most experienced player on either side of the ball. He started as a sophomore and made big plays right from the jump. Now, Castellanos will be one of the rare returning starters on the defensive side of the ball. He’ll look to be an extension of the coaching staff on that side as Union brings along some of those new faces on defense.

out of Union High School in the class of 2027. Ian plays both at safety and out at outside linebacker for Union. He is an intriguing defensive player, but he shows that he can do both, cover and tackle. Ian covers a lot on the backend of the secondary and moves well when the ball is in the air. He covers a lot of ground to go along with good ball skills. Ian tracks the near hip on his tackles and has good form overall when he strikes the ball carrier. Ian is a good open field tackler and a good run fitter in the box.
It seems like Union has been one of the programs over the last decade that has consistently had a name or two in every class to know when it comes to the secondary. The 2027 class is no different, as the Redhawks have two guys in the top ten for this position as of right now. One was covered in an article last week and safety Ian CastellanosIanCastellanos

is the other name to know moving forward. We first got a chance to watch Castellanos during the Jenks match-up in the regular season. That immediately caught our attention and he ended up having a pretty strong sophomore season. Coming into the 2024 season, Castellanos was somewhat of an unknown but his performance in that game got him on the radar and his upside continues to get higher.
