is a must-offer running back prospect who also plays defense at a high level and is confusingly flying under the radar as a prospect.
Thomas has yet to post any college offers according to his X account and is deserving of an offer from every D2 program in the state. He may play in an unconventional Wing-T offense, but Thomas will excel just as well in a more modern offense at the college level too. His combination of physical between the tackles running and speed to break loose to the outside and in the open field makes him a well-rounded RB prospect that colleges need to get on. Thomas is a football player in every sense of the term and a very high-effort player who’s going to give you 100% on every play. He’ll almost assuredly have some college options at some point this year and is a surefire scholarship-level player.

showed why he’s considered a Top 5 running back in his class by us in the Mohigans’ opening win over Parkersburg. They’ll need to lean on his running ability heavily at least in the early part of the season as they break in a lot of new faces at quarterback, receiver, and offensive line. Thomas is Morgantown’s most known commodity and proved why with 14 carries for 134 yards and two touchdowns in week one.
We’re looking forward to seeing film of Thomas this season as one of the state’s best running backs.

had his breakout year for the Mohigans in 2023 and should expand on the numbers he attained last season. As a junior, Thomas rushed for just under 650 yards and 15 touchdowns and also caught 16 passes for 192 yards and another score as a versatile player. We got to see him live last season in likely his best game of the season against bitter rival University in the MoHawk Bowl, and Thomas was clearly one of the best athletes on the field that night which featured some highly-ranked prospects. His recruitment has been way too quiet based on his social media activity and is a prospect every D2 in the state should be after this year. Thomas has a nice combination of speed and power and can turn the corner and get to the edge or run strong between the tackles and shed first and second defenders.
We anticipate him hitting the 1,000-yard rushing mark with a healthy senior season and seeing his recruitment ramp up.

Morgantown High’s Aaron “AJ” Thomas has had a great season of summer camps this year and he really popped when I saw him at the GCOH Performance Exposure Camp. He’s another prospect who could play on either side of the ball at the next level, and I like him at both positions. Physically, Thomas is an impressive-looking athlete who doesn’t look like a 2025 prospect and is also very athletic to pair with it. I’m expecting Thomas to have a big role this season for the Mohigans on both sides of the ball, and he should see a lot of carries in their Wing-T offense. On offense, he’s big enough to carry the ball between the tackles but has enough speed to get outside and get to the corner. Thomas is a hard runner and will shed weak tackles and fight for extra yards. On the defensive side of the ball, he’s best suited for safety right now and can cover ground and be physical in run defense. Thomas had some good reps in camp in pass coverage in 1-on-1s showing that he can be a complete defensive back.
Aaron “AJ” Thomas is definitely a name to follow the next two seasons.
