We’ve been high on Warren Central High School Class of 2028 recruit Darryl Gates Darryl Gates IN III for awhile now. The 6-foot-4, 210 pound prospect shield at our camp last spring and is playing a huge role on a Warren Central squad that is undefeated and looking to punch their ticket to Lucas Oil. Gates is a good tight end prospect who has strength after the catch, flashes being a good run blocker, and is very physical. Kent State offered him on Oct. 11.

I love everything about Daryl Gates III. Class of 2028 recruit snagged a touchdown in one of the opening sessions. Big catch radius, long-limbed receiver/tight end who has a chance to be great over the next couple of years. Really goes up for the ball and snatches it with his hands. Flashed good RAC after the TD with good vision, good stiff arm after the catch, and good balance.  Competitor who really wants to win. Has multiple offers; Power 4 teams should take a look.

Darryl Gates Darryl Gates IN had himself a day at the Exposure camp. Tall and athletic wide receiver for Warren Central was a matchup problem all day. Big, strong and thickly built, Gates has good leaping ability, wins contested catches and high points the ball. During the tag drill he was shifty and flashes ability to make defenders miss, eludes contact and keeps moving forward for positive yards. Warriors are a young team with a bright future and Gates is one of several returning starters looking to propel them to a state championship.

Gates continues to stand out and impress every time I see him. He was at the 7 on 7 games last month and dominated. He’s got a big frame, strong hands, and is a great redzone threat. He’s someone who knows how to use his frame in the tight areas and has no issue bringing the ball down through traffic.

Gates has a big frame and plays with a tough, physical edge that shows up at the catch point. I liked his strong hands, consistently securing the football through contact and finishing plays. He found the end zone multiple times over the weekend, proving to be a reliable red zone option. The size, strength, and play style give him real potential, especially as a matchup problem in tight areas.

Darryl was a shining piece for the Indy Chrome Maroon offense over the weekend. He’s a big target who can create space in the intermediate level. He has good hands and doesn’t seem to be scared of making difficult plays.

Darryl Gates is the next big thing to come out of Warren Central and I think he will be one of the top 2028 prospects in the state sooner rather than later. Really reminds me of New Palestine TE Mason Oglesby Mason Oglesby 6'3" | 210 lbs | ATH New Palestine | 2027 State IN : a great receiver with soft hands, creates separation well as a route runner. High-points the ball well with great body adjustment high and low. Can leap over defenders and be a legit threat over the MOF. High academic prospect and multi-sport athlete.

Darryl Gates was a big-time standout and a prospect the Warren Central staff is very excited about. Gates looks the part with a big frame, long arms and a thick chest. His arm length is outstanding and he displays good burst downfield. Gates is very athletic and tall, using his size as a mismatch against opposing defensive backs. He displays great ball skills with the ability to high-point and win contested catches. Expect big things to come for this class of 2028 WR.
