The Warriors come into the playoffs as three-time defending state champions. The only loss this season coming to 3A's #2 Sulphur. Until someone knocks them off, you have to consider the Warriors the favorites because they know how to win at this time of the year. But perhaps this is the year that somebody knocks them off. The Jones Longhorns have to be the top contender to Washington as they come into the playoffs at 10-0 and have been absolutely dominant this season. The Longhorns aren't the only unbeaten team as Metro Christian also finished this season with an undefeated record. Kingston is the other district champion and they've been knocking on the door of being a true state title contender, maybe this is the year they kick that door down.

Class 2A-1 will see other teams make noise other than the four district champions. Perennial playoff teams Marlow and Oklahoma Christian School could both make deep runs in the playoffs. That's not something that would be new to either program and they have the firepower to knock off one of the district champs and contend with those top two teams for a trip to Edmond. Tahlequah Sequoyah is a team to look out for. They quietly went 9-0 before losing to Metro Christian in week ten. The Indians are back in the playoffs and looking to make plenty of noise. Kiefer is another team that is used to winning a lot of games and this year was no different. The Trojans are another team to watch this month.

Then you have teams that have punched their ticket to the playoffs that might have been a surprise before the season. Mount St. Mary has had their best season in recent history. The future is very bright for the Rockets but they aren't looking at this playoff appearance as a moral victory. They want to keep playing. Led by a freshman quarterback, Little Axe is back in the playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade and just the fifth time in school history. The 2A-1 playoffs should be a fun class to watch unfold but all eyes will be on those three-time defending champs from Washington to see if they can capture a fourth straight title or if a new team will take over the throne.

TEN PLAYERS TO WATCH

[player_tooltip player_id='1179996' first='Acyn' last='Hansen'] - Senior Quarterback - Jones

The Jones Longhorns quite honestly might be the team to beat as we enter the playoffs as they've played dominant and perfect football all season. Senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1179996' first='Acyn' last='Hansen'] has taken his level of play up to new heights this season. He is equally as dangerous as a runner as he is a passer. The Longhorns, led by Hansen and company will be fun to watch this month.

[player_tooltip player_id='473879' first='Case' last='Alexander'] - Junior Tight End/Linebacker - Washington

Washington two-way standout [player_tooltip player_id='473879' first='Case' last='Alexander'] has been a star for the Warriors since his freshman season. He's been a critical part of the last two state championship teams and he certainly doesn't want to see that title streak come to an end this year. Alexander is one of the best linebackers in the state, regardless of class but is also a very talented player on offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='1343433' first='Cash' last='Worley'] - Junior Quarterback - Kiefer

Kiefer junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1343433' first='Cash' last='Worley'] has the Trojans right back in the mix in Class 2A-1 this season. When you throw on the tape or just look at his overall production, the first thing that stands out is his ability in the run game. Worley has been dominant on the ground this season and he shows no signs of slowing down. He'll look to lead the Trojans on a run in the playoffs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1831822' first='Creighton' last='Allen'] - Senior Quarterback - Oklahoma Christian School

Oklahoma Christian School might be the dark horse to watch in Class 2A-1. Their only loss this season was to unbeaten Jones and this shouldn't be a surprise, but the Saints have another outstanding quarterback leading the way. Senior signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='1831822' first='Creighton' last='Allen'] has put up big numbers all season and he's the latest in what feels like a long line of talented OCS quarterbacks.

[player_tooltip player_id='206345' first='Conner' last='Quintero'] - Senior Quarterback - Chisholm

Chisholm senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='206345' first='Conner' last='Quintero'] helped guide the Longhorns back to the playoffs and he'll look to lead them to a monumental upset as they face three-time champion Washington in the first round. Quintero rewrote the single season passing record book at Chisholm this season. If he can put up big numbers again on Friday, the Longhorns have a shot at the upset.

[player_tooltip player_id='1716143' first='Hudson' last='Morgan'] - Senior Running Back - Marlow

Marlow senior running back and Oklahoma State baseball commit [player_tooltip player_id='1716143' first='Hudson' last='Morgan'] is one of the top running backs in the 2A-1 playoff field. The Outlaws nearly made it to the state championship game a year ago and they're hungry to make it back. In some of Marlow's biggest games this season, Morgan has consistently produced at a very high level and is one to watch.

[player_tooltip player_id='1292050' first='Kincayde' last='Eng'] - Senior Quarterback - Metro Christian

Metro Christian is the other undefeated team in the 2A-1 playoffs and the Patriots appear to be ready to make another run to Edmond. Senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1292050' first='Kincayde' last='Eng'] is the latest signal caller to come through this Metro Christian program and keep the Patriots as one of the top offenses in the state. But this Metro Christian offense is more balanced this season with standouts everywhere.

[player_tooltip player_id='1045558' first='Luke' last='Quinter'] - Senior Running Back/Linebacker - Bethel

There's always a handful of players that feel like they've been in high school for six or seven years because of how consistent and impactful they've been in their four years. Bethel two-way standout [player_tooltip player_id='1045558' first='Luke' last='Quinter'] is one of those players. Offensively, Quinter is a hard-nosed runner and defensively, he's one of the top linebackers in Class 2A-1. He's put up big numbers on both sides of the ball for years.

[player_tooltip player_id='1680645' first='Malachi' last='Hardiman'] - Junior Offensive/Defensive Lineman - Mount St. Mary

We mentioned it earlier but Mount St. Mary is having their best season in recent memory. You can make the argument that all of their best players are juniors so the future is bright. Setting the tone on both sides of the line of scrimmage is lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1680645' first='Malachi' last='Hardiman'] and he is equally as dominant on offense as defense. Hardiman and the Rockets look to go on the road and stun Marlow.

[player_tooltip player_id='587266' first='Quincy' last='Shelton'] - Senior Wide Receiver/Defensive Back - Hugo

Hugo might be considered the underdog in their first round match-up against Metro Christian but senior [player_tooltip player_id='587266' first='Quincy' last='Shelton'] isn't going to back down from the challenge. Since his freshman season, Shelton has been one of the top wide receivers in the state's 2026 class. He's a legitimate D1 prospect and in addition to being Hugo's leading receiver, he also leads the team in interceptions.

BIGGEST STORYLINE

New Look Championship

The Washington Warriors are the team to beat as they begin their pursuit of a fourth straight state championship game but we'll also see a new championship game match-up for the first time since 2021. For the last three seasons, Washington has met up with Millwood in the title game and these two teams played some all time classics in Edmond. Millwood went through a youth movement this season with a very young roster and the Falcons missed out on the playoffs after three straight trips to the state title game. We don't know if Washington will make it back to Edmond but if they do, they'll see a different opponent. It's an interesting stat as Millwood missed the playoffs in 2021, made three straight state title games and then missed the playoffs again. Not something you see very often. When it's come to this class over the last three years, Millwood and Washington dominated. A spot just opened up for someone to make a run to Edmond in December.

2A-2 BRACKET

2A-2 OVERVIEW

Defending champion Davis is back in the playoffs to defend their title but they certainly have more competition at the top. Granted, the Wolves will be used to it. They beat three undefeated teams in three straight weeks to capture the 2A-2 title a year ago. It will be interesting as we could see a championship rematch in the semifinals. Top-ranked Vian is on the same side of the bracket as Davis and the Wolverines certainly haven't forgotten how it felt to walk off the field with the silver ball last season. On the top half of the bracket, you have Adair and the Warriors are the only undefeated team in Class 2A-2 after ten games. They certainly have shown that they have the firepower and talent to make a run to Edmond. Stroud is the other district champion and the Tigers came up one game short of playing for the state championship last season. They have unfinished business as they begin the postseason this year.

2A-2 has some contenders outside of the district champions but they will have their work cut out for them. Dibble and Holdenville each battled in the district with Davis. Both teams have had a lot of success this season and it wouldn't be surprising to see either team go on a run this month. Salina is 9-1 with the only loss coming on the road to unbeaten Adair. And the Wildcats certainly have the talent to surprise some people and win a few games. Valliant is also 9-1, with their only loss coming in a week ten showdown with Vian. If the Bulldogs can bounce back from that tough loss, their path is a favorable one to make it all the way to the semifinals.

The Casady Cyclones are playoff participants for the first time in school history. Despite a 4-6 record overall, the Cyclones won the right games, going 4-3 in district play to punch their ticket to the postseason. Last season, Class 2A-2 felt like a two-team race between Davis and Vian for nearly the entire season. The two of those teams met up in the state title game. This year, it feels more wide open and we could see any number of things happen over the next few weeks.

TEN PLAYERS TO WATCH

[player_tooltip player_id='1716194' first='Abe' last='Gomez'] - Junior Quarterback - Holdenville

Holdenville has been one of the highest scoring teams in the state all season and they are going to be a tough team to beat in the playoffs. Junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1716194' first='Abe' last='Gomez'] has been running this misdirection offense to perfection this season. And considering how much they light up the scoreboard, it shouldn't be a surprise that he's one of 2A-2's leaders in rushing touchdowns this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='807020' first='Cooper' last='Hooker'] - Junior Wide Receiver - Salina

If you haven't followed our coverage over the last few years, you might not know much about Salina's [player_tooltip player_id='807020' first='Cooper' last='Hooker'] and that's a mistake. The junior wide receiver is one of the best playmakers in Oklahoma and it doesn't matter what class we're talking about. Whether it's as a receiver or a returner in special teams, Hooker is one of the more dynamic players in Oklahoma.

[player_tooltip player_id='1328091' first='Cooper' last='McCord'] - Senior Quarterback/Linebacker - Adair

Adair senior [player_tooltip player_id='1328091' first='Cooper' last='McCord'] comes into the playoffs as one of 2A-2's most experienced players. He's been standing out for the Warriors for years now and for the second straight season, he helped guide Adair to a perfect regular season record. McCord is a run-first quarterback that can also beat you with his arm. And don't forget about his impact on the defensive side of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1324250' first='Dax' last='Owens'] - Junior Quarterback/Defensive Back - Davis

At this time last year, Davis quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1324250' first='Dax' last='Owens'] was preparing to lead the Wolves on a run to the state championship. In our opinion, during that run, he firmly established himself as one of the top overall players in Oklahoma. And he was just a sophomore. This season, Owens looks to lead the Wolves back to Edmond and back up the hype as one of the state's best players.

[player_tooltip player_id='1169618' first='Hunter' last='White'] - Senior Quarterback - Wyandotte

If you're looking for a road team that could win this week and possibly make a run to the semifinals, Wyandotte might be that squad. Senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1169618' first='Hunter' last='White'] is one of the more experienced quarterbacks in the playoff field and has once again put up monster numbers as a passer and as a runner. There aren't many quarterbacks that have better numbers than White.

[player_tooltip player_id='1833154' first='Jason' last='Wilkett'] - Senior Running Back/Linebacker - Wilburton

Out of the ten players on this breakdown, Wilburton senior [player_tooltip player_id='1833154' first='Jason' last='Wilkett'] might be the most underrated name but he certainly shouldn't be. He's near the top of Class 2A-2 in nearly every rushing category this season. He has been an absolute monster on both sides of the ball. He's put up monster numbers on offense and defense and he'll look to lead Wilburton to a first round upset win over Adair.

[player_tooltip player_id='1832728' first='Jeremiah' last='Cropp'] - Senior Quarterback - Stroud

The Stroud Tigers are once again district champs and they are playing as well as anyone entering the playoffs. Senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1832728' first='Jeremiah' last='Cropp'] has had a really solid season and he's the perfect example for how this team is playing. Throughout district play, Cropp has been very consistent and productive, helping the Tigers run away with the district championship.

[player_tooltip player_id='1045565' first='Jordan' last='Wesley'] - Senior Athlete - Beggs

Beggs is back in the playoffs and they look to be one of the rare four seeds to pull of a first round win. Senior standout [player_tooltip player_id='1045565' first='Jordan' last='Wesley'] is the player to watch for the Demons as he's been incredibly impactful on offense, defense and special teams. Out of the four different teams that face district champions, Wesley and the Demons have the best shot at pulling the upset.

[player_tooltip player_id='587265' first='Kenny' last='Golston'] - Senior Running Back/Linebacker - Valliant

Valliant senior [player_tooltip player_id='587265' first='Kenny' last='Golston'] is another player that has been one of the best in the class since his freshman season. Now, it's his last dance and he's looking to lead the Bulldogs on a run in the playoffs. In week ten, Golston got banged up and Valliant suffered their first loss of the year. If Golston returns to the field healthy, he has a chance to help them reach new heights in the playoffs.

[player_tooltip player_id='424595' first='Masyn' last='Wright'] - Senior Running Back/Defensive Back - Vian

Vian senior [player_tooltip player_id='424595' first='Masyn' last='Wright'] has been one of the best players in Oklahoma for a few years now. Last season, he nearly carried the Wolverines all the way to the state championship. They had to settle for silver and Wright hasn't forgotten about that. He's just as dominant as ever and he has the potential to put Vian on his shoulders and carry them to that elusive state championship.

BIGGEST STORYLINE

Is Adair The True 2A-2 Favorite?

Maybe we have Class 2A-2 all wrong. Davis is your defending champion. Vian is the top-ranked team heading into the playoffs. But maybe it's undefeated Adair that is actually the true team to beat in this class as we get ready to kick off the playoffs. The Warriors have looked great all season and they have an offense that can light up the scoreboard. The path to a state championship game isn't going to be easy but they are definitely on the better half of the bracket. If we see a Davis-Vian rematch, it's happening in the semifinals. All season, we've thought that Davis and Vian were still the top two teams in this class. But maybe it's actually Adair. The Warriors are experienced, talented and they will certainly feel like they have some unfinished business. The Warriors went undefeated in the regular season last year before losing at home to Davis in the quarterfinals. This is going to be a team that's hungry to make a trip to Edmond. And if they get there, maybe they are the team that will inevitably raise the gold ball.
