Despite the NCAA extending the dead period, recruiting is starting to really pick up across the state of Oklahoma as National Signing Day is in our rear view mirror and the focus has now shifted to the 2022 class. In the last week, 13 2022 prospects picked up offers from the next level and had one commitment over the weekend. We also saw 2 2023 prospects earn offers as well. Every Monday, we’ll update you on all of the recruiting news from across the state. From offers to commitments and everything in between, we’ll have you covered. As always, you can follow us on Twitter to stay up to date from the moment an offer or commitment happens. @PrepRedzoneOK

THIS WEEK’S OFFERS
Two Prospects Earn First Offers
Two more prospects finally got the call they’ve been waiting for as their first offers came in. First, Vinita star
Kyron Downing

was offered by Georgetown. The Hoyas have really spent a lot of time evaluating Oklahoma talent and they must feel like they can pull maybe one of two prospects out of this state. They offered Downing who is a legit track star in Oklahoma. He’s made an impact on the football field since his freshman season. He plays several different positions on offense and defense and has a very high ceiling. Georgetown should be the first of many.
The other first offer came later in the week when Tahlequah linebacker Eli McWilliams Eli McWilliams 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB Tahlequah | 2022 State OK picked up an offer from Tulsa. The Golden Hurricane pulled the trigger on McWilliams before any other coaching staff had the ability to. Tulsa is coming off a recruiting year where they didn’t have much success recruiting in-state. They signed zero in-state prospects during the early signing period and will look to change that up as they pay attention to the 2022 class.
Georgetown Eyes Linebacker Talent
We mentioned Georgetown really putting an importance on Oklahoma and here’s a good example of that continuing. Two of the better linebackers in the 2022 class picked up offers from Georgetown last week. McAlester linebacker

also tweeted out that he had been offered by Georgetown. There’s no doubt that Georgetown is recruiting Oklahoma harder than they ever have before. That’s a good sign for the state moving forward as more programs start to come in and recruit Oklahoma when they never have before.
Elite DB’s Pick Up More Offers

are two of the best overall prospects in the state and they play the same position. Williams and Rowe are both top five prospects and two of the best cornerback prospects in this part of the country. Williams has been a big name in recruiting since his freshman year and Rowe has absolutely blown up over the last two months. Williams was offered by the new staff at UCF last week and Rowe picked up an offer from Washington State over the weekend.
Memphis Seeking Defensive Standouts
Memphis is no stranger to recruiting Oklahoma as they routinely come into the state and extend offers and have had some success in recent classes. They were back at it again last week and were focused on the defensive side of the ball. They offered Vian 2022 linebacker

Two 2023 Continue Offer Momentum

On Monday morning, Pearson was offered by Pittsburgh. Pearson also has several D1 offers for baseball. Both Hasz and Pearson had very strong showings at this weekend’s Sooner7 Classic. OTHER NEWS
Daniels Headed To Oklahoma State
While almost all of the attention is on the 2022 and 2023 classes, one big story to come out last week was this. Texas A&M granted the release of Beggs 2021 defensive back
Kendal Daniels

from his letter of intent. Not much else followed this news as to why. It was immediately speculated that in-state schools Oklahoma and Oklahoma State would jump on the second opportunity to land the state’s number one prospect. LSU was also thought to be in the mix to land Daniels as they were one of his final four schools before he chose Texas A&M.
On Monday, just before we published this report, Daniels tweeted out that he would be heading to Stillwater and committed to Oklahoma State. It was a big conversation last summer when Daniels committed to Texas A&M. It came out that the Beggs star was ready to commit to OU but the offer had been pulled after the Sooners landed another commitment.
