<p>It's hard not to feel a bit of panic when you remember we're already halfway through the 2026 prep football season in Minnesota. Yes, everyone is guaranteed a sectional contest, but those first-round matchups can be hit or miss in the competitive and balanced department, and your regular season is going to make up the bulk of your year's tape, especially in the eyes of coaches, recruiters, and scouting departments. However, the halfway mark of the 2026 season also lets <em>PRZMN</em> look back, reminisce, and highlight trends, patterns, and, of course, standout performers and performances that have defined the fall's action so far. These are some of our favorite pieces to write all year; we hope you enjoy reading them as much too. Minnesota's 2026 Midseason Superlatives are below, only on <em>PrepRedzoneMN</em>!</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">It's been far too long since we've seen<strong> [player_tooltip player_id='1368410' first='Eli' last='Diane']</strong> play football. Two seasons seem like a lifetime when it comes to high school football, especially in terms of development, both physically and in terms of a prospect's recruitment, but <strong>Diane</strong> is back and better in 2026. The future Golden Gopher and multi-sport monster is a stalwart piece of the Trojans' defense, and the team is on a turnaround, now at 4-1 after last night's thumping of <em>Park of Cottage Grove</em>. <strong>Diane</strong> has flashed that elite size/strength/speed/explosiveness profile in some splash plays: a massive sack against <em>STMA</em>, a near sack versus <em>Andover</em>, and a TFL vs. <em>Edina</em>, and he's been dominant at the contact point and especially violent towards RBs trying to come in a chip. Broke down and changed direction well to mirror a RB 1v1 in the backfield for another TFL or low-gain tackle vs. <em>Edina</em>. Love the get-off as well; it's explosive, and <strong>Diane</strong> really comes off the ball low and violently. The future Golden Gopher has been unblockable at times as a senior, not to mention the biggest and baddest dude on the field. Welcome back to the gridiron, <strong>Eli</strong>! </p>

<p class="text-gray-700"><em>St. Louis Park </em>has a fun roster in 2026, with a couple of fun narratives in the program and an Honorable Mention for Comeback Player of the Midseason in senior <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1540406' first='Everett' last='Arnold']</strong>. I love this kid's story, not just because he came back from an ACL tear in Week 4 of his 2025 junior season with the Orioles, but also because he made an offseason switch from QB to TE to best serve his offense and team. It's a selfless move, especially given the time and training <strong>Arnold</strong> has put into the QB position, which <em>PRZMN</em> also thought highly of. However, the move seems to be a good one, as <strong>Arnold</strong> is leading all TEs (at least whose teams report stats to <em>MNFootballHub</em>) in TDs and yards five games into the season, tallying 24 catches for 448 yards and 4 TDs, top-10 receiving-yard production. Arnold is burning CBs over the top, dominating in 50/50, contested catch situations, flashing high-end ball skills, and showing off juice after the catch in his highlights from 2026 so far. Quite the combo when you remember he's a verified 6'+, 220ish. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">This should not be a controversial pick, by any means. Minnesota's Class 6A is about as up in the air as it's been for the past few years, except that <em>Moorhead</em> has dominated the Big School ranks and rival Metro opponents through five weeks of 2026. This is the sport of football, so things ebb and flow with one's QB play, and <strong>Feeney</strong> has been nothing short of prolific through the first five games of his senior season. He's been the single-most dominant force in MN prep football this year, solidifying his P4-commit status and giving opposing DCs headaches as they try to contain the QB and his eventual distribution of the pigskin to his supremely talented skill-position group. I can't remember a QB playing at this level so easily, maybe since Anders Lee back when I was an 8th- or 9th-grader watching <em>Edina</em> vs. <em>Washburn's</em> old matchups. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">This is the best I've seen <em>White Bear Lake</em> look and play in I don't know how long. The <em>Bears</em>, spearheaded by one of the state's most talented receiver rooms, have been smothering teams in the trenches, and they came into their Week 5 matchup with <em>Forest Lake</em> last night 4-0 and averaging dang near 250 rushing yards a game. Yes, of course, the OL deserves credit, but the <em>Bears</em>' RB1 <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1909257' first='Brian' last='White III']</strong> has been outrageous as a senior and is a clear-cut sleeper prospect as well as the state's Breakout Player of the Midseason. One of only tailbacks already having passed the 1,000-yard mark through five games of action, <strong>White III's </strong>highlights are terrific, as his blend of speed, quickness, and power is up there with any back in the state, and he's been a splash-play tailback, possessing the legit explosiveness, vision, and playmaking ability to take the ball to the house any and every touch. <strong>White III</strong> has established himself as one of Minnesota's most lethal offensive threats this season. </p>

It's hard not to feel a bit of panic when you remember we're already halfway through the 2026 prep football season in Minnesota. Yes, everyone is guaranteed a sectional contest, but those first-round matchups can be hit or miss in the competitive and balanced department, and your regular season is going to make up the bulk of your year's tape, especially in the eyes of coaches, recruiters, and scouting departments. However, the halfway mark of the 2026 season also lets PRZMN look back, reminisce, and highlight trends, patterns, and, of course, standout performers and performances that have defined the fall's action so far. These are some of our favorite pieces to write all year; we hope you enjoy reading them as much too. Minnesota's 2026 Midseason Superlatives are below, only on PrepRedzoneMN!

This should not be a controversial pick, by any means. Minnesota's Class 6A is about as up in the air as it's been for the past few years, except that Moorhead has dominated the Big School ranks and rival Metro…
This is the best I've seen White Bear Lake look and play in I don't know how long. The Bears, spearheaded by one of the state's most talented receiver rooms, have been smothering teams in the trenches, and they came…
Alto is the state's third-leading passer in yardage (1,326) through five games and shows no signs of slowing down. 64-97 (66%) for 1,326 yards (13.7 YPC) and 18 TDs, plus 48 rushes for 323 yards and 6 more TDs on the ground. 28 tackles, 3 TFLs, and a blocked kick to boot. MIB is 5-0 after five weeks and looking like a legitimate 1A threat for Prep Bowl contention. Alto has a lot to do with that projection.

The best player on Maple Grove this season has been BriggsTarnowski. The transfer from Rogers has posted 23 catches for 446 yards and 4 TDs against heavyweight competition. With strong, scholarship-worthy testing numbers and verified athleticism backing him, Tarnowski has seemingly always been there when the Crimson need a play, and his ability to consistently separate, not to mention his ball skills and YAC ability, has been giving 6A defensive secondaries fits all season long. Really strong athletic profile, production, and big-game mentality will earn this breakout standout a big bump on the ranking's board this month or the next.

The Willmar Cardinals are one of the state's teams of the midseason. Willmar is 5-0 with wins over Fergus Falls, @ Westonka, Marshall, @ Rocori, and Hutchinson in Week 5, and they really established themselves in the 4A race to…
White has posted 75 completions on 116 attempts for 1,183 yards and 12 TDs to only 3 INTs. Smith has caught 43 of those passes for 787 yards and 9 TDs.
The future Golden Gophers are the state's hottest duo.
Feeney, the frontrunner for Mr. Football, has completed 101 passes on 136 attempts (74.3%) for 1,766 yards and 23 TDs to 0 (!) INTs through five games. Mack has caught 43 of those passes for 790 yards and 12 TDs. One word: prolific.
Much like Feeney for Player of the Midseason, this wasn't a hard choice. SMB's 2026 Minnesota Midseason Superlatives2026Minnesota Midseason Superlatives

Using the IG: mnhsfootballnetwork (@MNHSFBNETWORK on X) classification rankings as a guide, I came away believing Class 4A is the deepest and most competitive class at midseason. In the most recent post from three days ago (at the point of publishing), I would argue that Class 4A's Top 10 all have a legitimate argument for a Prep Bowl berth. I'm watching Class AA closely as well, especially behind Jackson County Central and Caledonia, ranked #1 and #2 by mnhsfootballnetwork in its recent update.
Northfield 18, Mayo 12. September 25th, Spartans fall to Raiders for the first time since 2018.
Final: Northfield 18, Mayo 12.
Spartans fall to the Raiders for the first time since 2018. Four turnovers and a 1 for 12 effort on 3rd down proved to be the difference for the Spartans.
Mayo (1-3) will look to bounce back against rival century (2-2) on friday night
Outrageous track and field times (11.11 100M, 23.73 200M, 31' 9.75 shot put, 19'11.75" long jump) have given Hutch that high-end playmaking ability we've gotten accustomed to seeing from the Tigers and, particularly, their offensive backfield. Seems to have that…

Reported 6'4 ", 11.12 100M, 24.18 200M, and an 18'9" long jump as a sophomore in the outdoor T&F season, and has been a splash play creator at the small-school level, where it's tough for WRs to shine. Definitely a player to watch in the upcoming 2028 rankings update.

11.01 100M speed, plus a ton of 6A experience and production at a variety of positions. Check the boxes in person and in a camp setting, too. Also the state's best returner at. the midseason point of the 2026 season.

Elite track and field times for the Golden Gopher football and DB commit. 10.56 100M, 20.92 200M, 49.40 400M, 24'8 long jump among his PRs. Also a special teams ace.
Elite size and frame with a noteworthy multi-sport background with Eden Prairie, the Eagles' basketball team, and the Minnesota Big School scene. Not to mention the AAU circuit. Tons of pop as both a WR and a DE this season. Traits heavy, with a lot of upside when projecting to the D1 level.

Great size, versatile skill set, flashing a ton of the traits and skills you need in a contemporary TE prospect. YAC, route running, and blocking ability are all present. Size looks good on film. Only a sophomore. Minnesota produces good TEs, especially from the small school ranks.
