Week 2: OLSM vs Detroit MLK Game and Prospect Preview

<!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Info</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The MHSAA is bringing us a blockbuster matchup in week 2, between the Eaglets of Orchard Lake St. Mary's (D2) and the Crusaders of Detroit Martin Luther King (D3). These are two powerhouse programs that are always in the hunt for a state championship in their respective divisions. This heavyweight battle will take place at the home of OLSM beginning at 7 pm.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Team Overview</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Both squads are coming in riding high off of week 1 wins. OLSM beat Mona Shores in a barn burner, while MLK was able to handle Toledo Whitmer by multiple touchdowns. We can expect this one to go to the wire as both rosters are littered with elite next level talent. OLSM is lead offensively by Northwood QB commit [player_tooltip player_id='489263' first='Jabin' last='Gonzales'], Ferris State WR commit [player_tooltip player_id='528082' first='Lorenzo' last='Barber'], Central Michigan TE commit [player_tooltip player_id='1625703' first='Brannon' last='Hardy']. Defensively, DT [player_tooltip player_id='1309977' first='Treighjan' last='Gibson'] and DE [player_tooltip player_id='2084210' first='Joshua' last='Gonzales'] help hold down the fort, while [player_tooltip player_id='1719429' first='DJ' last='Taylor'] is a leader in the second level of the defense with [player_tooltip player_id='1201160' first='Caden' last='Blankenburg'] roaming the secondary. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On the flip side, MLK offensively is anchored by Jameer and [player_tooltip player_id='1687407' first='Jordan' last='Henry']. Those two and company lead the way for the young QB [player_tooltip player_id='1583378' first='Amir' last='Forris'] who is looking to cement himself as the main signal caller. What will help him do that is getting the ball to 3 star MSU commit Don Spillers and 3 star Illinois commit [player_tooltip player_id='1233561' first='Darryl' last='Flemister'], who are considered athletes because of the amount of havoc they wreak at their respective DB positions. 3 star DT [player_tooltip player_id='1167235' first='Elijah' last='Willis'] and 2027 Edge Jamari Riley will attempt to meet up in the backfield all night.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Analysis</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>These are the type of high schools matchups that kids dream about playing in. OLSM vs Detroit MLK is great for the state of Michigan because of the immense talent we will see on the field as well as the high IQ coaching decisions going on in the background. I believe Detroit MLK has the advantage in the trenches overall, both offensively and defensively. OLSM has the more experienced, seasoned signal caller so I will give them the advantage there. Both teams will be able to light up the scoreboard as well as force turnovers.
