Defensive backs are at a premium as we start the season. Lets take a look at 5 DB's that are having excellent starts to there year and what has made there starts special and what has separated them from other DB's early on.    Quinn has had a very good start to his senior campaign for Stoney Creek. Quinn has all the tools you would want at the safety spot to translate to a solid player at the next level. What has really stood out about Quinn early this year is his ability to play down hill and show to be a solid tackler in the run game. When Quinn has his eyes set on you and makes contact he does not miss. I am also impressed with Quinn's ability to show solid coverage skills when offenses decide to challenge him. Quinn does a good job backpedaling and flipping his hips to run with wide outs. Quinn has also done a good job making a play on the ball and has 3 pass break ups and has also forced 2 fumbles. Keep an eye on Quinn to continue to build on his solid start and watch out for a big end to his senior year.     I watched Kenneth live in East Kentwood's big win at Byron center. The one thing that pops immediately about Kenneth is his ability to cover a ton of ground quickly. Kenneth delivered multiple big hits and showed plus coverage skills in the few times he was challenged. Kenneth possess excellent size and uses it to position himself when the ball is in the air. Kenneth was also excellent in the run game as he helped neutralize one of the better rushing attacks in the west side area. East Kentwood has one of the best secondaries in the state and Kenneth is a big reason for that. Watch out for the Falcons DB to continue to garner big time offers and his junior season rolls on.     Jaeden has started off his year red hot as he has emerged as one of the best shutdown corners in the state. Jaeden has been targeted 9 times through 3 games and has shut the door all 9 times. He has 4 pass break ups and has 2 INT's to start the year. Jaeden does an excellent job staying in the wide outs hip pocket and making a play on the ball or giving the QB zero room to squeeze a ball in. I am also impressed with Jaedens physicality at the line of scrimmage in press coverage and his ability to stay in phase through out the route. I like Jaeden a lot and see this red-hot start continuing through the rest of the year.     Keedan was a player who I wanted to see live and the senior wildcat did not disappoint. He was fantastic on the offensive side of the ball as part of a 3 headed monster backfield. But what really impressed me was Keedan's toughness from his DB spot. Keedan was challenged multiple times on Friday night and stayed firm and helped shut down a solid Lake Orion passing attack. Keedan also delivered multiple big hits and let his pads do the talking all night. Keedan has excellent top end speed and had no issue flipping his hips and running with wide outs. Keedan is very impressive on both sides of the ball and I suspect his solid season continues.     Wendell is another player who stands out as an early candidate for top cornerback recognition. Wendell has excellent size for a corner and has an excellent wingspan. At 6'2" wendell is able to use his size to completely suffocate opposing wide outs. Wendell came up with a huge pick against Stoney Creek in the fourth quarter that helped seal a close win. Wendell has excellent top end speed and is able to show a solid backpedal and an explosive first step out of his backpedal to close ground quickly and break on the ball.Wendell has been very good early on for Clarkston and see his season to continue to rise and his stock surely will.
