I have liked Byrd for quite awhile, but the last couple of times I have seen him in person has instilled a ton of confidence in my evaluation. He is speedy, understands leverage and how to control a receiver on his route, and he can flat out play the ball when it comes his way. He flips his hips quickly and can turn on the jets on deep routes. Byrd is a true teach tape of “No Fly Zone” type defense.

Outplaying his ranking by a country mile. My updated evaluation started with watching Jaeden’s midseason highlights.
Big upgrades to his all-around instincts, physicality, and play speed. He’s a player who seems to play better during Friday Night Lights than during the offseason.
In the passing game, Jaeden has been more consistent in man coverage. A little more patient, yet just as quick to react when the ball is thrown. Plus, his ball skills have looked great so far this season. Pass game still not 100% scouted, as I’m waiting for his game against Saline to be available. Still, definitely looks upgraded from last season.
Jaeden also looks improved in the run game. All-around better play speed, and a good tackler.

Jaeden missed quite a bit of time last season, but he was still able to put up some great highlights. His tape kicks off with a solid man coverage rep- there’s a stumble, but Jaeden does an excellent job of recovering and executing the PBU. Overall, I like his instincts and change of direction. Needs to play with a little more confidence, though.
Looking like a breakout prospect for 2025. A great athletic foundation, and he should be good to go for camp season starting in a couple of weeks.

As I mentioned earlier in the offseason, Byrd is putting in a ton of work and it is really paying off. He has performed well against elite competition and really showed out. I am super impressed by his ability to play press coverage, jam receivers off the line and run stride for stride with some of the quickest receivers around. He moves extremely well, flips his hips and has natural ball skills. At our Stock Up Showcase in December, Jaeden tested well and did a great job in the 1 on 1 portion. Look for Byrd to be a breakout contender in 2025.

I just saw online that Byrd performed really well at the Rising Stars showcase. I am expecting another stellar performance this weekend as well! Byrd has the makings of a really good up and coming DB. He was sticking with some really good receivers in 1on1 drills and appeared to hold his own well. We should have some good receivers in attendance for him to show off and boost his stock a ton!
