Darryl does his best when the lights are brightest. He’s a very well-advertised athlete, and someone I have written about numerous times.
He’ll probably be shadowing

, which is going to be an incredibly exciting matchup. Really, that matchup comes down to inches. Defensively, Darryl is going to be King’s best player in the secondary, and someone who could limit Cass Tech’s best athletes.
Offensively, Darryl can be used in a wide variety of ways. Of course, he can play QB in a pinch. Really, he can play any position that’s not on the offensive line. He’ll get his touches. I’d bet Darryl makes a few big plays on offense.

- For the first time, Darryl is going to be playing his college positions full-time (rather than QB)
- Has the explosiveness and change of direction you’d expect from an elite defensive back and receiver.
- Cares a LOT about winning. Sky-high potential as a leader.
- A go-getter. If there’s a chance at an INT or explosive play, he’s doing all he can to execute.
- A preseason Mr. Football candidate.

Darryl is on the verge of a breakout season. Transitioning away from the Quarterback position, Darrl will now be playing what he’s destined to play in college (DB/WR).
I personally haven’t seen Darryl rep DB or WR very much, but I’m extremely confident that he’ll perform exceptionally well at each position. In the DB clips I’ve seen, Darryl is patient, hips are fluid, feet are fast, and instincts are solid.
What I have seen is Darryl’s competitiveness and athletic ability. There’s absolutely zero quit in Darryl. When Darryl played Quarterback, he’d still rush for north of 100 yards in most games. Plus, if things aren’t going as planned, it seemed to motivate Darryl even more. I love a player who only seems to speed up as the game goes on, and a player who cares deeply about winning. Darryl is a winner, and easily a Top 5 player in this class.

I watched Darryl in two games last year: Week 1 and the State Championship.
Especially during Week 1, I saw a ton of grit from the then-QB. Darryl had moments where he was pressured, flushed out of the pocket, and a couple of big hits. There was a momnet where I thought Darryl was shaken up, but he came right back up and continued playing at a high level.
Next season, Darryl is expected to transition to WR/DB. I am confident that he not only has the athletic ability to play both positions, but the grit to play all four quarters, even when banged up.

Quarterback, running back, DB, receiver, you name it- any skill position, Darryl has a shot at going D1.
The reason why I bring that up is because King has a new transfer QB, Andrew Knight (earned one uncommittable D1 offer his freshman season at SH Stevenson). So, I am curious to see if Darryl gets slotted into a WR/DB role similar to what

did this season.
Either way, Darryl is still my #1 Quarterback in the class. He needs to work on being a better pocket passer, but I absolutely don’t blame him for scrambling so often. Once he finds room outside the pocket, he can scan the field, outrun just about any D-Lineman, and choose to either throw downfield or take off and run. In other words, Darryl’s off-schedule playmaking ability is best in class. His throwing ability is also on-par with most players on this list.

Flemister had a very up-and-down day but ended up playing a lot better in the second half. In the first half, Darryl went 6-12 for 57 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT – plus around 30 yards rushing (I forgot to check until Q3).
In half #2, Darryl went 4-6 passing, 54 yards, with another 77 (total game) yards on the ground. He seemed to play with a lot more decisiveness passing, and chose his rushing lanes well.
Darryl showcased why he’s a D1 prospect despite the loss. There frankly aren’t many QBs as athletic as Darryl.

Darryl is about to face off against the best defense he’ll see this postseason. He doesn’t have any tape from this season on Hudl yet, but I did get a chance to watch Darryl during Week 1.
Against Cleveland Heights, Darryl showcased elite athleticism and throw on the run. Mason has a great defense, but they’re far from the most athletic defense in the state. I predict that Darryl will make a ton of plays with his legs, and score at least 1 TD on the ground.
He’s still considered a Power 4 prospect, and should continue to make his case this week, and maybe next week during the State Championship.
