A new era of Jenks Trojan football began in 2025 with Adam Gaylor taking over as head coach. The former Jenks defensive coordinator was promoted to head coach when Keith Riggs stepped down following the 2024 season. Jenks came out swinging under Gaylor in 2025. They beat Edmond Santa Fe, Owasso and Union to open up the season. Then came a week four showdown with rival Bixby to open up district play. The game was high scoring and back and forth for two quarters. But the Spartans ran away with it in the second half to prevail 66-35. Jenks didn't lose again the rest of the regular season. They were only challenged one other time during the regular season and that came in week six, at home, against Mustang. The offense and specifically the running game could not be slowed down and the Trojans would win 55-48. The offense was lights out all season. They averaged north of 50 points per game and scored 50+ points seven different times. They finished the regular season at 9-1 and had some momentum going into the playoffs. They beat Edmond Memorial by 32 points in the quarterfinals and that set up a semifinal showdown with Owasso. They lost to the Rams in the semifinals in 2024 and unfortunately, that was the result again in 2025. Jenks lost their starting quarterback to an injury and couldn't overcome an early hole, falling 39-36. While they mounted a respectable comeback, it came up short and the season came to an end at 10-2 with a loss in the semifinals. Now, the Trojans are ready to turn the page and begin pursuit of their 19th state championship in program history.

2026 OUTLOOK

There will be a few new faces for Jenks as they head into the 2026 football season but expectations are still the same. Jenks had an offense that reached rare air last season, averaging over 50 points per game. Now, they still have quite a few names back from that outstanding unit from a year ago but they have to find a way to replace the PRZ-Oklahoma Player Of The Year at the running back position. They'll do it by committee as the Trojans expect to play multiple guys at running back this season. QB1 returns and he has several of his top weapons in the passing game and the majority of his offensive line returning. Jenks should be just fine on that side of the ball. Defensively, the Trojans could be really good with a lot of their starters from last year returning. The front seven has the potential to be absolutely nasty this season and Jenks will need everything they can get from the offense and defense when you look at the schedule they are playing. First off, they only have nine games this season because Enid is independent this year and next. Then they won't play their first home game until the first Friday in October. And the first half of the schedule is off the charts difficult so those new faces are going to get thrown into the fire this season. But the Trojans come into this year as a top five team and expect to contend for the 6A-1 state championship. It's incredibly competitive at the top but at a program like Jenks, it feels like every year is championship or bust so competition is nothing new.

2027 tight end and Utah commit [player_tooltip player_id='693998' first='Braxton' last='Daniel'] has always been a 2027 prospect we've been intrigued by. Whether it's been injuries or anything else, Daniel was still hungry for that breakout moment heading into his junior season in 2025. That moment happened and there was no doubt that Daniel was not only a big part of the Jenks offense, but he was living up to his potential as one of the better overall prospects in the state's 2027 class. So it's no surprise that following his junior season, Daniel blew up as a prospect, earning offers from all over the country. Ultimately, he committed to Utah and he's primed for an even bigger senior season in 2026.

We knew that 2029 offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1607998' first='Jamison' last='Mobley'] was special considering he started right away for the Trojans on the offensive line as a freshman. Mobley was a 2029 prospect that we knew about at this time last year but he exceeded all preseason expectations by starting right away and turning into a dominant force on one side of the offensive line. The thing that makes Mobley so interesting going into this season and moving forward is his versatility up front. It seems like the Trojans can put him at any position on the offensive line and he will be successful. Mobley has already established himself as one of the top overall guys in the state's 2029 class.

2028 hybrid defender [player_tooltip player_id='1829699' first='Kade' last='Klein'] didn't take long to get on our radar during his sophomore season. In the first half of the first game of the year, Klein played like a man possessed and immediately became a name we needed to follow moving forward. Klein would follow that up with a breakout sophomore season. And we mention him being a hybrid defender because he could play just about anywhere in this Jenks defense. He might be listed as a defensive back but Klein looks just as comfortable near the line of scrimmage like he's a linebacker as he does in the secondary as a safety. Wherever Jenks puts Klein this season, look for him to make a lot of plays.

2027 standout and Florida commit [player_tooltip player_id='1030447' first='Kailib' last='Dillard'] was already one of the state's best prospects coming into his junior season because of his work as a safety on defense. But it became very clear that Dillard was going to be one of the top two-way players in the state. He emerged immediately in 2025 as one of the top playmakers at the wide receiver position. He was certainly the top target in the Trojan passing attack and now he's back for more in 2026. Jenks will get creative with new ways to put the ball in his hands. But don't forget how dangerous he is on the defensive side of the ball. He's one of the top overall prospects in the state's 2027 class, regardless of position.

We mentioned earlier in the preview how the Trojans have to find a way to replace the state's best player from 2025 at running back. 2028 running back [player_tooltip player_id='1834436' first='Kyron' last='Scott'] is one of several guys who will get carries this season for the Trojans and he gives Jenks an absolute tank in the backfield to run the football. We got a chance to see Scott in person in the spring and he immediately passed the eye test. Then you watch him run the football and good luck bringing him down in a one on one situation. He might not fill up the stat sheet like the last Jenks running back did (he literally shattered records) but he's going to be a reliable option throughout the season.

At this time last year, 2027 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1206910' first='Landon' last='Kizzar'] found himself in a battle for the starting quarterback job. Kizzar ultimately won the gig and would never let it go. The other two guys he was in a battle with are now at other schools. And with the Trojans losing their star RB to graduation, more eyeballs will be on Kizzar heading into the 2026 season. But he appears to be ready to answer the call. He's bigger, stronger and ready to have an elevated role with the Jenks offense. Kizzar got hurt in Jenks' semifinal loss to Owasso. There's no doubt that the Jenks QB has used that as fuel to the fire throughout the offseason as he prepares for his senior year.

We believe that Jenks could be very good on the defensive side of the ball this season. It's all going to start with 2027 defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1297665' first='Luke' last='McInelly'] on the line of scrimmage. McInelly is going to be a three-year starter for the Trojans and he has emerged as one of the state's best defensive linemen in this 2027 class. He doesn't have the prototypical size that some other guys at this position have but throw on the tape or watch the 2027 product work in person and you see a guy that can absolutely dominate things on the line of scrimmage. McInelly has also shown steady improvement over the last several years so we're fired up to see how he looks this fall.

2027 offensive lineman and Arkansas commit [player_tooltip player_id='527903' first='Odaefe' last='Oruru'] will have more eyeballs on him this season as the anchor of this Jenks offensive line at left tackle. It was around this time last year that the light bulb went off for Oruru and he elevated his play to match all the potential for a guy his size and with his athleticism. Oruru was part of a terrific Jenks offensive line a year ago and now he's the senior veteran that Jenks coaches will rely on to set the tone on the line of scrimmage. He has the potential to be one of the best guys in the state at the position. Between Oruru and Mobley as well as others, the Trojans will still have one of the best OL groups in the state.

2026 SCHEDULE

Aug. 27th - AT Southlake Carroll, TX. (AT Cotton Bowl)
- What a way to kick off the season. Jenks will face Texas powerhouse Southlake Carroll in week zero and they'll do it inside the Cotton Bowl. Somewhat fitting that this showdown between Oklahoma and Texas powerhouses will take place in the venue for the annual Oklahoma-Texas rivalry game. It's a great stage to kick off the season.
Sept. 4th - AT Rogers, AR.
- After going to Texas to kick off the season, the Trojans will head east to Arkansas in week one. They'll face Rogers in northwest Arkansas and it will be the first meeting between these programs in recent memory. Jenks is no stranger to locking up with Arkansas programs over the last few decades. Rogers is coming off a 10-2 season in 2025.
Sept. 11th - AT Bixby (AT Tulsa's Chapman Stadium)
- It's back on the road for Jenks to wrap up non-district play but they stay in-state this time. They face Bixby in week two and will look to snap a five-game losing streak to the defending champs. These two have met in district play for the last four years but this match-up now goes back to an early season non-district clash.
Sept. 25th - AT Union
- For the first time in nearly three decades, the annual Jenks-Union rivalry game will take place during district play. The Trojans open up the district slate making the trip over to Union to face the Redhawks. Last year, the Trojans won 48-30 for their second straight win in the series. This is hands down, one of the state's best rivalry games.
Oct. 2nd - Owasso
- At last, the Trojans will play in front of the home fans in week five as they host Owasso. And this is a game that the Trojans will have circled on their calendars. They beat Owasso 31-21 in the regular season a year ago. But they've had their seasons come to an end in the semifinals in each of the last two years to the Rams.
Oct. 9th - AT Deer Creek
- It's back to the road for the Trojans in week six when they head to Edmond to face Deer Creek. The Antlers moved up to 6A-1 a few years ago and the Trojans have met them in district play ever since the move up. Jenks won last year's meeting 56-21 and they also took care of the Antlers in 2024, winning 28-0.
Oct. 15th - Edmond Santa Fe
- On a Fall Break Thursday night, Jenks will host Edmond Santa Fe in week seven. The Trojans and Wolves haven't been district opponents since 2021, but they've met in non-district play in each of the last four years. Jenks dominated the last two meetings. Edmond Santa Fe will have a first year head coach this season.
Oct. 23rd - AT Yukon
- Jenks heads back on the road to the west side of the state to square off with Yukon in week eight. The Trojans haven't played the Millers since 2021, when they won 48-14. These two teams were district foes from 2014-2021 and the Trojans went 8-0 during that stretch, winning each meeting by 30+ points.
Oct. 30th - Moore
- Because of one less district opponent, the regular season will come to an end in week nine when the Trojans host Moore. These two have met every year in district play since 2022. The Trojans have dominated the series historically. They beat the Lions 67-14 in last year's meeting. This will be their last test before playoffs.

NOTABLE

The Trojans expect to contend for the district championship and ultimately the state championship this season. If they finish as district champ or even district runner up, they will get quite a break between the end of the regular season and their quarterfinal game. Because their district only has seven teams with Enid being granted independence this year and next, Jenks is only playing nine regular season games this year and they'll be done before the calendar flips to November. And if they win the district or finish second, they'll have back to back bye weeks with week ten and the first round of the 6A-1 playoffs. Then they'll get back on the field for the quarterfinal round. Perhaps that could be a good thing for the Trojans heading into the playoffs this time around. 2021 was the last state championship year and it's not often that Jenks goes more than four years without a gold ball. They lost to Bixby in the 2022 semifinals after having beaten them a few weeks earlier in the regular season. They lost to the Spartans the following year in the state title game and then the last two years, there have been tough semifinal losses to Owasso. Maybe history is on Jenks' side going into this season. The Trojans haven't won a title since 2021. You have to go back over three decades to find another five-year stretch where they didn't win at least one state championship. 2026 would be year five for the Trojans.
