Noble Bears OK 2026 Team Preview

But they kicked off the season against a brutal non-district schedule, featuring some of the better teams in Class 4A, including the eventual state champion in Tuttle. They went 0-3 in non-district play but bounced back with a win in the district opener against Lawton. That 20-8 win in week four would end up paying off in a major way when November rolled around. They lost three straight games after that and went into week eight with a 1-6 record. They could not lose again or they'd miss out on the playoffs. They won their final three games, including a 14-13 win over El Reno and that would punch their ticket back to the playoffs. They had to go on the road to face district champion Lawton MacArthur in the first round and that's where the season came to an end. They fell 57-14 and the season ended at 4-7 with a first round exit for the second consecutive season. Despite that, we think that Noble comes into the 2026 season with some momentum. Not from the way the 2025 season ended. But what has happened since the end of the season and how they've come together this offseason.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>2026 OUTLOOK</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Noble comes into the 2026 season with a balance of returning starters with newcomers that will be immediate impact players. Four starters return for the Bears on the offensive side of the ball but that doesn't tell the whole story. They've added a few names, including at the quarterback position that have plenty of starting experience. With the quarterback addition, we think that Noble's offense is going to be in much better shape throughout the 2026 season. Defensively, the Bears are in a similar position where they bring back five starters from last year's team, but again, they have several guys that are new to the roster that have started elsewhere and can be immediate impact players for the Bears on that side of the ball. In five of Noble's seven losses last year, they gave up 50+ points. This defense certainly looks improved and will make it a mission to not let an opponent light up the scoreboard, week after week. One of the bigger reasons we think Noble can be much improved is the schedule this season. The non-district slate is still competitive but it's not the gauntlet that they've had in the last few years. There's a solid chance that Noble gets to the halfway point of the regular season with a 5-0 record. And the momentum of that compared to starting 0-3 is a day and night difference. He comes from Arizona after his dad was hired this offseason by OU. Cheatwood is a 6'4 tight end and linebacker that immediately gives Noble a match-up nightmare for opposing defenses. Noble will be able to use Cheatwood as an extension of their offensive line or split him out at receiver. Don't be surprised if the defense takes a big step forward this season as well. 2027 linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1830465' first='Rylin' last='Carpenter'] returns to lead the defense. Last season, he finished with nearly 70 tackles and he's one of those returning starters that is hungry to get Noble back to contending in Class 5A year after year. Carpenter is your prototypical inside or middle linebacker that is a heat-seeking missile on every play. He immediately makes the Bears better as they get closer to the 2026 season. Hayes helped lead Southmoore to their first playoff win in well over a decade. Now, he'll look to help Noble back to the playoffs and have success once they get there. Hayes is a terrific passer but an underrated athlete overall. He can beat defenses with his legs in addition to his arm. They averaged under 20 points per game last season but we think that number goes up in a major way this fall. But it can't happen without strong play on the line of scrimmage. The Bears will be led up front by 2027 offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1830456' first='Tristan' last='Hayes'] and they like the depth they have on the offensive line. Hayes has the potential to be the leader of the Noble offensive line. Hayes spent last season as an outside receiver, competing in 6A-2 as a freshman. This year, the Bears will use him at receiver, tight end and even have him play some defense in the secondary. Hayes came on strong last season as he got used to the speed of the varsity game. And it should go without saying, but he has an instant connection with the quarterback in this offense. They'll host Cache in week zero and it's the first meeting between these two programs. We mentioned earlier how the non-district schedule doesn't feel like the gauntlet that it has been the last few years. The Bears will face new competition in the first few weeks here.&nbsp;<br><strong>Sept. 4th - Bridge Creek</strong><br>- Similar to the season opener, a lot of the same things can be said here as the Bears will host Bridge Creek. These two teams have never met on the gridiron and Noble should be able to get off to a fast start for the 2026 season. They have the ability to take care of business and pick up some momentum as they get further into the season.&nbsp;<br><strong>Sept. 11th - AT Woodward</strong><br>- The first road game of 2026 is a long one as they'll head out to western Oklahoma to face Woodward in week two. These two teams have played in the past but it's been a few years. The only meeting in the last 15 years was in the 2019 playoffs. Noble beat the Boomers 28-14 in the first round. Overall, they've won five straight in the series.&nbsp;<br><strong>Sept. 18th - AT El Reno</strong><br>- Noble heads west again in week three but not nearly as far as they go to El Reno. The Indians are not a new opponent for the Bears. They've met in each of the last eight years as district opponents. But now this is a non-district game. Noble will be looking for their third straight win in the series and their fourth in the last six seasons.&nbsp;<br><strong>Sept. 25th - AT Duncan</strong><br>- Noble opens up district play with their third straight road game in week four. They travel to Duncan as the Demons are back on the schedule after they were in different districts the last two seasons. They played each year from 2018-2023 and it was a back and forth series. Noble won the last meeting 41-31 but each team was 3-3 during that stretch.<br><strong>Oct. 2nd - Carl Albert</strong><br>- After not playing at home in nearly a month, the Bears return home in week five to host reigning state champion Carl Albert. The Titans have a 53-game winning streak heading into this season and who knows if it will still be intact when they visit the Bears. For Noble, the goal is simple here. Get their first win in program history over the Titans.&nbsp;<br><strong>Oct. 9th - AT Midwest City</strong><br>- Noble goes on the road to face Midwest City in week six after not playing the Bombers in each of the last two seasons. These two played each other every year from 2020-2023 and the series was headlined by the Bombers. Noble comes into this season still searching for that first win over the Bombers in program history.&nbsp;<br><strong>Oct. 15th - Lawton</strong><br>- On a Fall Break Thursday night in week seven, the Bears will host Lawton in another major district showdown. They've met in district play in each of the last two years. Noble won 20-8 last season and that would end up being the difference between making it to the playoffs and sitting at home when the playoffs kicked off in November.&nbsp;<br><strong>Oct. 23rd - AT Guthrie</strong>- Noble goes back on the road to face Guthrie in week eight. These two have been district opponents the last two seasons and the overall series has been owned by the Blue Jays. Guthrie beat Noble 63-20 last season and Noble will come into this season looking for their first win over the Blue Jays since winning back to back meetings in 2003 and 2004.<br><strong>Nov. 6th - Durant</strong><br>- After a week off, Noble will return to the field in week ten to wrap up the regular season against new district foe Durant. These two teams were district opponents from 2012-2017 but haven't played since. At this point of the schedule, Noble is going to know exactly what they need to do in order to make the playoffs or improve their seed.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>NOTABLE</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Player movement is a hot topic in Oklahoma high school football. Some programs have been hurt by losing players to other schools and others have been able to improve their rosters because of it. Noble is in that second category as they get ready to kick off the 2026 football season. Like we mentioned earlier in the preview, the Bears have several new players on both sides of the ball that not only bring starting experience from elsewhere but they have the potential to really help Noble to new heights this season. Now, they have to go out and do it. We've seen cases where teams add new players and on paper, it looks like it's going to really help and that connection never really sticks and the team flames out.
