Jones quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1667339' first='Jeymon' last='Reed'] is the state's top overall prospect for the second straight ranking update. He's going to have to hold off some serious threats at the OL position over the next few years to go wire to wire as the state's top overall prospect. But it feels like a lock that Reed will go wire to wire as the state's top QB prospect. He came into his freshman season as the favorite to be the most impactful freshman in the state and he even exceeded those expectations with his play with Altus last season. Now, he's moved over to Jones and he has the Longhorns looking like a team that can go win the 3A state title after they captured the 2A-1 crown last season.

Metro Christian has a new quarterback as 2029 signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='1829254' first='Brody' last='Smith'] moved over from Regent Prep earlier this year. Smith started for the Rams last season but has made the move to Metro and looks to be an instant impact player for the Patriots this season. His freshman film is incredibly impressive and now he steps into the QB1 role with Metro Christian, which historically has quarterbacks that put up monster numbers. When we got a shortened chance to watch Smith in person in the spring, he looked the part. It wouldn't be surprising if we look up in November and December and Smith is one of the top passers in the state, regardless of class.

Sapulpa tight end [player_tooltip player_id='1751862' first='Brodie' last='Chalakee'] is inside the top 15 for overall prospects during this ranking update and he could be knocking on the door of the top ten with a strong sophomore season. Chalakee joined the Chieftains last year for his freshman season. This offseason, Sapulpa's coaches were incredibly high on his potential this season. They also believe that Chalakee is really high on college radars heading into his sophomore season. It's easy to see why when you see Chalakee in person. He's hard to miss at 6'6 or 6'7 and he has performed well when we've watched him in person. This could be a big season for him as the Chieftains move down to Class 5A.

Cushing quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1704522' first='Gabe' last='Gurley'] checks in as a borderline top 20 overall prospect and it seems like he's going to be a guy that is in constant contention for the top two or three spots at this position throughout his career. Gurley spent his freshman year at Ada but has made the move to Cushing and the table is set for him to have a monster sophomore campaign. First off, Cushing quarterbacks produce and they produce at a high level. You combine a QB-friendly offense with some serious talent at the receiver positions and Gurley could blow up this season. He's already gotten on the radar of college coaches this offseason and it seems like that it's just the start.

Inola running back [player_tooltip player_id='1834732' first='Jayce' last='Kent'] was without a doubt one of the more productive freshmen in the state last season. He was in the conversation for Freshman Of The Year and now we're fired up to see what he does for an encore. Kent not only produced at a high level during his freshman season, he found a way to be a major player against some Inola's toughest opponents. Kent wasn't just stuffing the stat sheet against their easiest opponents. The last time Kent was on the field for the Longhorns, he was finding success in multiple ways against Heritage Hall. He helped lead the Longhorns to the quarterfinal round. Now, he looks to step into an expanded role this season.

We got a chance to watch Durant tight end [player_tooltip player_id='1834800' first='Graham' last='McIlvoy'] a couple times this offseason at our 7v7 tournament and then our showcase a few weeks later. In both settings, McIlvoy was one of the better tight ends in attendance and we started buying stock immediately. It was pretty clear at that point that he was going to be a name to know moving forward in this class. McIlvoy checks in as one of the top tight end prospects in the class and in as a top 30 overall prospect for his first ranking. Now, we'll be looking at what he does this season during his sophomore year. We've only really seen what he can do without the pads but he's a guy that doesn't shy away from contact.

Deer Creek running back [player_tooltip player_id='1839096' first='Brayden' last='Hubbard'] is on the shortlist of players we're fired up to see after they missed last season with an injury. Hubbard was one of the 2029 prospects that we were excited to see after watching him a handful of times in the spring prior. It looked like he was capable of getting on the field at the varsity level against 6A-1 competition but a season-ending injury prevented that from happening. But as of right now, it looks like Hubbard is not only 100 percent but he is more than ready to make up for lost time this season. He's a running back that has plenty of speed to go along with a strong frame and could be an impact player for Deer Creek.

Collinsville running back [player_tooltip player_id='1726786' first='Beau' last='Daniels'] is definitely a player that we're fired up to watch this season considering the expanded role he is about to have with the Cardinals. You could see flashes last season that Daniels would be able to help the Cardinals. And with Collinsville needing a new running back to step up, it looks like Daniels could be that guy. We had him at our showcase event back in May and he was right there in the mix for MVP honors at the running back position. There is a lot to like about his overall game and now he just needs to showcase those abilities under the Friday night lights. All signs are pointing to Daniels enjoying a breakout season this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1829041' first='Tucker' last='Hayes'] is another 2029 name to know that is at a new spot heading into this season. Hayes joined his brother and dad as they made the move from Southmoore to Noble this offseason. They joined the Bears shortly before spring practice so it was a crash course to get ready for practice and team camp. We got a chance to watch a lot of their reps during one day at team camp and Hayes looked really good. He has the chance to be one of, if not the top target in the Noble offense this season. Hayes had a solid freshman season and now he has the potential to do much more as a sophomore. Hayes has size and consistent hands to be very productive this fall.

Our final prospect on this breakdown is wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='2124514' first='Austin' last='Eshelman'] out of Community Christian and he was one of the top producing wide receivers in the freshman class last season. Eshelman feels like he's going to be a name to know in this class because not only did he produce, but his quarterback was also a freshman and that 1-2 punch is going to be fun to watch over the next few seasons. We also got a chance to watch Eshelman earlier this year at one of our 7v7 tournaments and he stood out immediately. So now, we're looking forward to seeing how Eshelman has raised his overall play and what kind of production he ends up having this season with the Royals.
