OK Recruiting Report - Week 1

With Week Zero complete in the State of Oklahoma and many teams across the state having one game under their belt, athletes across the state have benefited from the return to play as college coaches were on the sidelines and soon after extended scholarship offers. This week we look at athletes across a number of different classes who earned offers, committed, and decommitted.    Bixby's freshman exploded onto the scene matched against one of the top athletes not only in the state but the country in the class of 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='1328118' first='Kamieon' last='Compton-Nero']. Owens finished with four pass breakups and an interception in the Spartans victory over Owasso.   The offers have started to roll in for Owens with Memphis, SMU, Mississippi State, Texas Tech, Arkansas and Ole Miss extending offers. The recruiting process is just beginning for Maverick and yet the Power Four conference offers have already started to come in.     The aforementioned Compton-Nero was impressive in his Owasso Rams debut, including a circus touchdown catch, one of two on the night.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/samspiegs/status/2093557092397302218?s=20 </div></figure>   The transfer from Rejoice Christian added an offer last week from Florida State to go along with a Top 15 that consists of Alabama, Florida, Kansas State, LSU, Michigan, Missouri, Notre Dame, Oregon, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, Tennessee, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M.     Oruru committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks on April 10 of this year but last week, just prior to his Jenks Trojans facing Southlake Carroll inside the Cotton Bowl, flipped his verbal commitment to the Oklahoma State Cowboys and new head coach Eric Morris.   Oruru becomes the fourth in-state commit for OSU's 2027 Class joining Choctaw linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1176238' first='Israel' last='Hammons'], Pryor WR [player_tooltip player_id='807020' first='Cooper' last='Hooker'], and Broken Arrow defensive back Bryson "BB" Brown.   Oruru is a 6-6, 310 pound offensive tackle holds offers from Colorado, UTEP, Maryland, Texas State, Tulsa, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, TCU, and Texas Tech.     One of the fastest risers in the Class of 2028, Cache's [player_tooltip player_id='1830308' first='Kenyon' last='Sweat'] earned an offer from the University of Michigan last week. In week one, Sweat did not face one-on-one coverage as he was double- and triple-teamed all night yet still found the end zone utilizing his laser-time 4.35 40-yard dash speed.   Sweat holds offers from TCU, Georgia Tech, Wisconsin, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, UConn, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Texas Tech, and Iowa State.     The Bisop McGuinness senior linebacker has added another offer, his 16ht offer, this time coming from Cornell. As a junior, Blackburn totaled nearly 100 tackles for the Irish.   He holds offers from Kansas Wesleyan (NAIA), Lyon College (D3), Sal Lake Yetis (Prep School), Macalester College (D3), St. Norbet College (D3), Talladega College (NAIA), Sterling College (NAIA), Culver-Stockton (NAIA), McPherson College (NAIA), Grinnell College (D3), Oberlin College (D3), Trine University (D3), Friends University (NAIA), North Dakota State College of Science (NJCAA), and Hendrix College (D3)     Jones announced his commitment to the nearby Langston Lions as he is out for his senior season with the Pioneers due to an injury suffered during the offseason. Jones, when healthy, is one of the best wide receivers in the Class of 2027 and the NAIA Lions are getting a steal in Jones who had his junior sseason cut short due to injury.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Other Notes</h2>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>PrepRedzone Oklahoma's Michael Knight was in attendance at the Jones v. Lincoln Christian contest last Thursday night. Also on the sidelines were two coaches from the East Central University Tigers. Apparently, they liked what they saw as Jones linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1830322' first='Jesse' last='Hernandez'] and Lincoln Christian tight end/defensive end [player_tooltip player_id='1830474' first='Colton' last='Monsey'] both received an offer from the Ada, Okla. based NCAA Division II institution.</li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Broken Arrow senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1686398' first='Shamar' last='Banner'] announced he has decommited from Marshall University and will reopen his recruitment. Banner was offered by the University of Tulsa and is scheduled for an official visit with the Golden Hurricane on September 18, the weekend Tulsa hosts East Texas A&M. </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Mustang defensive back and wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1230346' first='Kruz' last='Delgado'], class of 2029, saw his recruiting take off with San Deigo State, Cal-Berkley, Indiana, and Sacramento State. </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>[player_tooltip player_id='1643597' first='Hayden' last='Keenan'], a class of 2027 wide receiver and defensive back, at Harrah earned an offer from Doane College (NAIA) last week. Keenan holds offers from Oklahoma Baptist, Roe-Hulman Institute of Technology, Central Methodist University, and others. </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Choctaw '27 wide receiver and defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='1655976' first='Caydon' last='Anderson'] received his first NAIA offer from McPherson College. Classmate and defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='1828591' first='Bobby' last='Pennon'] earned an offer from Northwestern Oklahoma State (NCAA D2). </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Enid Class of 2028 lineman Cashton Mathis picked up an offer from Kansas State joining the likes of Oklahoma State UTEP, TCU, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, and Tulsa.</li> </ul>
