One of my favorite series of the year is the Deep Dives, where we at Prep Redzone North Carolina start going into counties or areas across the state of North Carolina, and ranking talent by specific positions in those areas. My colleague Will Helms has already done a great job in starting his rankings in the Raleigh area, and I will start in Mecklenburg County in the immediate area of Charlotte, then branch out from there.

We will miss some players here and there, and a lot of our evaluation is based on production, film, offers from college football programs, and the existing Prep Redzone North Carolina rankings. If you feel you should be included, be sure to let us know! We will start here with the top quarterbacks in Mecklenburg County, listed in ranking order.

Our 704 Junior Bowl QB gets another accolade, being the top-ranked quarterback out of Mecklenburg County as well. College programs are now taking notice of what we've already known, as Ethan has picked up recent offers from Samford, Eastern Michigan, and Kent State since the start of 2026. Ethan's dual-threat ability keeps plays alive for the Husky offense, and this season, I expect we're going to see even more dynamic ability throwing the football down the field with the talented teammates Ethan has in his program this upcoming year.

As I said previously in the 704 Junior Bowl article, Jared really did have an impressive season last year, in my honest opinion. I liked his command of the Independence offense, and he made some smart decisions with the football on a consistent basis. From a recruiting standpoint, Jared had a strong offseason last year, picking up offers from multiple college football programs. He's got some Junior Day Invites from multiple schools already, and after an All-Conference performance last year, I'm excited to see what his senior season delivers.

Jamouri came into this past season with offers from Johnson C. Smith and Catawba College, and at this point no one can deny the talent he possesses. Jamouri is a winner first and foremost, and he's led West Charlotte deep in the playoffs two years in a row. His dual-threat abilities are well known, and his accuracy and consistency are strong traits of his game.

I think Cole made a nice jump in his game last season, and I've got him in the Top 5 this year, when last year he wasn't mentioned in this article. I like his composure in critical situations, and his play last season in the first round of the playoffs was a big reason the Pumas won that game and advanced to the second round. Cole throws a beautiful deep ball, and I expect Palisades to really showcase his talent this upcoming season on offense.

Troy played his way into the Top 5 this season, leading Charlotte Latin to a strong season and a home 1st round playoff game. I talked to him in the preseason last year, and he's a great young man and a leader you want for your program. As a player, I like his poise in the pocket and his decision-making with the football in his hands. Going into his senior year, I am sure Latin will really give him the reins to put up some big numbers once again in their offense.

Ramir made some great throws and plays last season and showed a lot of growth as a player after coming over from Rocky River. Obviously, this offseason is huge for him to see if he can build on the growth he showed as a quarterback. He lost some talented teammates, so he also has a chance to step up into a bigger leadership role and take full control of the Mustangs' offense. Ramir showed me some nice ability to move in the pocket and make some plays on the run, as well as some ability overall as a runner with the ball in his hands.

Luke did an excellent job of stepping into the starting role in the middle of last season and helping lead the Panthers to the 2nd round of the state playoffs. Providence has a lot of talent returning in some key positions, so they could go even deeper in the playoffs next season if things fall right for them. Luke has some really strong fundamentals and has more arm strength than you believe at first glance. I'm excited to see what he does with a full season in front of him.

If you want a quarterback out of central casting, Cameron would be your guy for sure. He's got the physical traits you want - height, strong arm, and the ability to put the ball anywhere on the field with those abilities. After an early offer from New Mexico, college football programs are starting to realize that as well, as Cameron recently picked up an offer from Wofford. I'm expecting to see more positive recruiting momentum for Cameron once we really get going into camp season.

Quietly, Ty started to realize the potential I've seen in him over his first two years this past season for the Spartans. Throwing for over 2600 yards and 25 touchdowns this past season, Ty is an under-the-radar prospect who could end up being a steal for a college football program. Though there has been a coaching change, I expect Ty to build on that performance this upcoming season. I like Ty's overall combination of accuracy and arm strength throwing the football.

Cailen has grown physically to 6'3 and 205 pounds, and his sophomore campaign showed a lot of promise for giving the Mallard Creek offense a strong vertical element in the passing game. The Mavericks will have a good bit of speed at the receiver position this upcoming season, and with Cailen having the starting job to himself, presumably, he should be a lot more comfortable operating the offense overall. He has a strong arm and showed some ability to make some plays with his legs as well last season.
