<p>It's that time of year when colleges are actively courting high school prospects in hopes of building a strong roster. For many of them, Iowa is an important stop along the recruiting trail.</p>

<p>Here's a look at news and notes regarding recent developments in the 2027 Class:</p>

<p>-Our No. 1 player in the state's 2027 Class, Grinnell offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1204515' first='Will' last='Slagle'], backed off his Iowa State verbal commitment in Early December, when head coach Matt Campbell left for the same position at Penn State, taking key members of his staff to State College. Less than a week later, the Nittany Lions offered him a scholarship. He <a href="https://x.com/slagle_will/status/2017808502190637185?s=20">visited their campus</a> last month.</p>

<p>Slagle also visited Iowa, was re-offered by the new Cyclone staff and picked up a scholarship from national runner-up Miami (FL) since the calendar flipped to 2026. Nebraska also has re-entered the picture. </p>

<p>-Woodbine receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1197458' first='Landon' last='Blum'] was ranked third in our last '27 update. He's continued to see his recruitment flourish, adding offers from Miami (FL), NC State, Syracuse, Ole Miss, Penn State and Duke since the beginning of December. Iowa State's new staff re-offered him. </p>

<p>-Regina Athlete [player_tooltip player_id='466364' first='Tate' last='Wallace']'s recruitment has steadily progressed. Since the end of November, he reported offers from Kansas State, West Virginia, Purdue, Arizona, Wisconsin and UNLV. WVU, Arizona, Purdue and Minnesota have visited him in Iowa City recently.</p>

<p>-[player_tooltip player_id='1197445' first='Savion' last='Miller'] announced he was transferring from Regina to City High at semester. The top-ranked 2027 running back in Iowa added a West Virginia offer in January to a collection that includes Miami (FL), Minnesota, Missouri, Toledo and Kent State. Iowa State and Minnesota visited him at school recently and he took a trip to Mizzou. </p>

<p>-[player_tooltip player_id='1393166' first='Nate' last='Brenneman'] is an Iowa '27 with helium. The Boyden Hull/Rock Valley offensive lineman moved up to No. 8 overall in his class when the recent <a href="https://prepredzone.com/iowa/rankings/2027-rankings/">Prep Redzone Iowa rankings</a> were released. He also reported scholarship offers from Iowa, Iowa State (new staff), Minnesota, Maryland, Kansas State, Duke and North Dakota State since mid-December.</p>

<p>-[player_tooltip player_id='1694834' first='Reid' last='Steger'] has been busy already this year. The Kuemper Cathlic junior offensive lineman received a bunch of junior day invitations. He took Columbia, North Dakota State and South Dakota State up on those offers so far. Iowa State, South Dakota and North Dakota have visited him at his school. </p>

<p>-The recruitment of Sioux City East's [player_tooltip player_id='1198829' first='Kason' last='Clayborne'] has remained eventful. The versatile athlete added offers from Kansas State and Purdue during the last few weeks. Arizona, South Dakota State, Iowa State, Michigan State and Kansas all visited East High. Minnesota visited the school and Clayborne's home. </p>

<p>-Newton running back [player_tooltip player_id='1366537' first='Isaiah' last='Hansen'] was re-offered by Iowa State on Jan. 30. He's received consistent attention from several other Power 4 programs, including Iowa and Wisconsin. </p>

<p>-[player_tooltip player_id='1204438' first='Joe' last='Vinyard'] is involved with quite a few schools at this time. Lindenwood offered at the end of December. The Waukee Northwest tight end/edge rusher played host to Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Minnesota at his school since we moved into a new year. </p>

<p>-Prairie offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1207826' first='Will' last='Clausen'] has been busy on the wrestling mat and with football recruiting. He picked up offers from Oklahoma State and North Dakota already this month. Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan State, Minnesota, South Dakota State, South Dakota, North Dakota and most of the Ivy League programs swung by Prairie recently. </p>

<p>-[player_tooltip player_id='1617623' first='Cade' last='Newman'] took junior day visits to South Dakota State and North Dakota in January. The Ankeny Centennial tight end received visits at school from Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, Wisconsin, Northern Iowa and South Dakota recently. </p>

<p>-[player_tooltip player_id='1283377' first='Lucas' last='Diehl'] picked up a North Dakota offer during a campus visit on Jan. 31. He also attended a South Dakota State junior day last month.
