Another high school season is in the books following last week's state championship games in Cedar Falls. It proved to be a memorable campaign with impressive performances throughout Iowa.

Prep Redzone Iowa brought you consistent coverage throughout the season. We saw a lot of football.

Here's a look at our picks for Elite All-State, which includes the best of the best from all classifications:

QUARTERBACK

[player_tooltip player_id='1552779' first='Reece' last='Rettig'], SR, Iowa City Liberty

I'm not sure any individual student-athlete in the state impacted his team more than Rettig. A magician with the football in his right hand, the senior signal caller guided the Lightning to its first-ever appearance in the title game. He threw for 22 touchdowns and ran for 14 more, completing over 66 percent of his throws for 2,465 yards and rushing for 908 yards (5.3 YPC). His 12 interceptions weren't great, but they were a function of an aggressive offensive attack which overcame them.

RUNNING BACKS

(MR. FOOTBALL) [player_tooltip player_id='856072' first='Ian' last='Middleton'], SR, Dowling Catholic

The senior barreled his way to 1,767 yards (6.3 YPC) and 19 touchdowns during Dowling's state championship run that concluded with 12 wins in a row. The Maroon runner added six catches for 43 yards and a touchdown, and chipped in on defense with 2.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. Middleton showed patience in letting his excellent offensive line set up blocks then using vision and burst to get through the holes before powering through contact at the end of runs. He toted the rock 63 times during the semifinals and title game, displaying toughness, durability and production.

[player_tooltip player_id='401673' first='Javaris' last='Morgan'], SR, Ankeny Centennial

There were a lot of great candidates for the second RB spot on our elite team. In the end, Morgan was the choice after rushing for 1,224 yards (10.4 YPC) and 18 touchdowns. The senior also caught 22 balls for 222 yards and four scores and averaged 20.8 yards on five kick returns. All of that production came against a challenging schedule in the state's largest classification.

OFFENSIVE LINE

[player_tooltip player_id='1221926' first='Carson' last='Nielsen'], SR, Waterloo West

An Iowa commitment, Nielsen has steadily improved his technique to complement his projectable frame, agility and athleticism. He paved the way to the Wahawks reaching the state playoffs in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2012-13 and for just the fourth time in program history. They averaged 5.0 touchdowns and 320.0 yards of offense per contest this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1687055' first='Dalton' last='DeBoer'], SR, Waukee Northwest

I was happy to get an in-person scouting opportunity of DeBoer at the state semifinals at the UNI-Dome. A transfer from the Minnesota prep ranks, the Wake Forest pledge lived up to the advanced billing as a big man with slick feet, power and agility. He held it down at left tackle during the Wolves' first run to the state semifinals, when they averaged 4.9 touchdowns and 408.8 yards an outing.

[player_tooltip player_id='1238174' first='Colin' last='Whitters'], SR, Iowa City West

The Trojans enjoyed an 8-3 season, in large part, because of their offensive line. The O-Line was good, in large part, because of Whitters, who is large. More than a just a big body, the Iowa pledge is quick, powerful and devastating at the point of attack. West averaged 5.0 touchdowns and 405.3 yards per contest.

[player_tooltip player_id='1583613' first='Carter' last='Barrett'], SO, Dowling Catholic

The starter at left tackle for the 5A state champs as a sophomore this season, Barrett has college programs from all around the country pursuing him. He is a rare combination as a high-ceiling/high-floor prospect. He's technically sound and advanced beyond his years, overall. The Maroons averaged 4.2 touchdowns and 383.7 yards a game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1240558' first='Andrew' last='Hine'], SR, Waukee

A fixture on the Warrior offensive front for multiple years, Hine really took a step forward this season from a technical and consistency standpoint. He even helped the squad out by contributing on the defensive line. Hine has a bright future at West Point after helping pave the way to Waukee averaging 343.6 yards and 3.6 touchdowns a game in reaching the postseason against the state's second toughest schedule, according to Bound.

WIDE RECEIVERS

[player_tooltip player_id='1238635' first='Ethan' last='Headings'], SR, Iowa City West

One of the better two-way players in Class 5A, Headings was a handful to cover at receiver. A skilled route runner with speed and burst, the North Dakota commitment hauled in 56 balls for 1,202 yards (21.5 YPR) and 13 touchdowns despite often receiving extra attention with a reputation that proceeded him.

[player_tooltip player_id='1197458' first='Landon' last='Blum'], JR, Woodbine

Blum was impactful on both sides of the ball for a Tiger team that came within a whisker of winning a state title. Blum's length, athleticism and speed make him a tough cover on the outside, and led to him catching 60 passes for 1,049 yards and a state-best 24 touchdowns. He reports scholarship offers from 11 Power 4 programs, including Iowa and Iowa State.

TIGHT END

[player_tooltip player_id='1198816' first='Luke' last='Brewer'], SR, Norwalk

Brewer reclassified to the 2026 Class this season and committed to Iowa ahead of offers from a who's who list of programs. Capable of playing defensive end in college if he chose, Brewer is a weapon at tight end already and packed with the potential for a major impact on the next level. This season, he caught 39 passes for 532 yards and six touchdowns despite being at the top of the scouting report.

DEFENSIVE LINE

[player_tooltip player_id='1619297' first='Ryan' last='Bobo'], SR, Dowling Catholic

A key cog in the Dowling defensive machine, Bobo disrupted the proceedings on offense for many opponents. The senior paced the state with 14.5 sacks, adding 19.5 tackles for loss and 25 solo stops.

[player_tooltip player_id='466364' first='Tate' last='Wallace'], JR, Regina Catholic

One of the state's top tight ends, Wallace wreaked havoc on the opposition as a force chasing the quarterback off the edge, while also flashing ability to run sideline to sideline. He finished with 8.5 sacks, 18.0 tackles for loss and 29 solo tackles.

[player_tooltip player_id='1361747' first='David' last='Fason'], SR, Prairie

When Fason wasn't catching passes as a dangerous tight end or booming punts downfield, the Iowa commitment was impacting the game from the defensive front. He paced the state with an absurd 34.0 tackles for loss to go with 10.0 sacks and 64 solo tackles.

[player_tooltip player_id='1283377' first='Lucas' last='Diehl'], JR, Kuemper Catholic

Diehl was a two-way force in the trenches for the state champion Knights. His 14.0 sacks ranked as the second most in Iowa this season. The junior also posted 18.0 tackles for loss and 32 solo stops.

LINEBACKER

[player_tooltip player_id='1238512' first='Julian' last='Manson'], SR, Iowa City West

Manson has been a dominant two-way performer for the last two seasons and a contributor since his freshman year. The Iowa pledge, who has caught a combined 19 touchdowns as a junior and senior, came up with 67.0 tackles (33 solo, 6.0 TFL), a forced fumble, an interception and three passes defended. His coverage skills are advanced.

[player_tooltip player_id='1238514' first='Kasen' last='Thomas'], SR, Bishop Heelan

The Crusaders needed Thomas more as a runner than a defender the last two seasons, but the versatile athlete is committed to the Hawkeyes as a linebacker. His length, speed and athleticism will play well there on the next level. Despite missing most of the state semifinal with an injury, which slowed him in the title game, he finished with 42.0 tackles (25 solo, 12.0 TFL), 5.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries and a Pick-6.

[player_tooltip player_id='856075' first='DreShaun' last='Ross'], SR, Fort Dodge

Ross disappointed football programs at Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan and elsewhere to commit to Oklahoma State as a wrestler. That didn't stop him from enjoying a memorable senior season on the gridiron with 52.0 tackles (48 solo, 33.0 TFL), 13.0 sacks and four forced fumbles. Like Thomas and Manson, he was a key opponent of his team's offense, too.

DEFENSIVE BACK

[player_tooltip player_id='283943' first='Eli' last='Robbins'], SR, Norwalk

One of the best football players I scouted in person this season, Robbins will fit nicely as a safety for the Iowa Hawkeyes. For Norwalk, the explosive athlete also stressed defenses as a receiver. On defense, he runs well and packs a punch, which resulted in 43.5 tackles (43 solo) with two interceptions, including a Pick-6.

[player_tooltip player_id='401675' first='La'Marious' last='Clark'], SR, Ankeny

The Northern Iowa pledge finished up his prep career with an excellent senior campaign. Clark totaled 30.5 tackles (17 solo, 4.0 TFL), a half sack, a pair of fumble recoveries, including a touchdown return, five interceptions, including a Pick-6, and six passes defended.

[player_tooltip player_id='283946' first='Jayden' last='McGregory'], SR, WDM Valley

The Tigers needed more help from McGregory at the receiver position this year, but he will begin his career at Missouri playing safety. He's been solid when playing there for Valley during three consecutive runs to the state semifinals, including last year's title game. He had 10 solo tackles, a tackle for loss and an interception this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='850243' first='Brayton' last='Alford'], SR, Kuemper Catholic

Colleges finally have caught on to Alford, whose recruitment was slowed by an injury last year. Healthy in 2025, the versatile athlete was a top receiver on a state title team and a menace on the other side of the ball. He piled up 86.0 tackles (54 solo, 6.5 TFL), 3.0 sacks, four forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and six interceptions, including a Pick-6.

PUNTER

[player_tooltip player_id='2065798' first='Austin' last='McIntire'], SR, Ankeny Centennial

The Jaguar senior only attempted 24 punts this fall, averaging 39.0 yards an attempt and finding success at pinning opponents deep. He also illustrated a big leg handling kickoffs, where he produced 10 touchbacks on 16 tries.

KICKER

[player_tooltip player_id='1571476' first='Logan' last='Barton'], JR, Cedar Rapids Washington

I got to watch Barton in person this season. The ball makes that sound coming off of his foot that lets you know he hit it good. The junior recorded four field goals and 38 touchbacks on as many kickoff attempts this fall. He also averaged 39.1 yards as the team's main punter.
