Another week of Prep Redzone Michigan Power Scores! The formula has yielded some fascinating results this week.

Well, it's the same as last week. Being Wednesday, the site states that everything is updated, and the records do seem to be updated. Let's see how I feel about the Power 20 this week, and if the power socres do get updated again, I'll update this article.

Week 6 - Power 20

1. Saline (96.57)

The Prep Redzone formula likes Saline. Can't really blame them- Slaine has an excellent resume and a real argument for #1. That Week 1 win against Rockford looks better and better week after week. Dexter gave them a run in the first half, then Saline slammed the door in the second half. This might be the best offense in the state, led by QB [player_tooltip player_id='568192' first='Tommy' last='Carr'].

2. Portage Central (96.22)

PC's points for / points against stands at 244-3. Not all of PC's opponents have been slouches, either. East Lansing, FHC, and Mattawan all won playoff games last season. At this point, I'd be shocked if PC didn't end the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record. Look out for an early playoff matchup against a hot team like Muskegon. They have the top-tier prospects ([player_tooltip player_id='1687693' first='Camden' last='Noe'], [player_tooltip player_id='568196' first='Charlie' last='Jilek']). They also have a phenomenal surrounding cast. This program is built for the postseason.

3. West Bloomfield (95.46)

Hats off to West Bloomfield so far this season. It seems like most teams in the OAA Red have taken a small step back, while West Bloomfield has taken a step up. The best point differential in the Red (+110) with wins against Adams, Lake Orion, and Groves. On paper, they'll be heavy favorites for the rest of the year, minus their week 7 matchup against Clarkston. [player_tooltip player_id='1148708' first='Jeremiah' last='Benson'] is one of my favorite defensive linemen in the state, while QB [player_tooltip player_id='1613852' first='Jaxson' last='Carver'] has been genuinely impressive.

4. Harper Woods (95.42)

On track to finish the regular season 8-1. Well, they could go unbeaten, but they'll have to beat Saline in a few weeks. Possible? Absolutely. Their win against Clarkston proves that this team can go toe-to-toe with anyone. Though the 1-point victory against Stoney Creek is head-scratching to say the least. Catch Harper Woods on a good day, and they can beat anyone. Absolutely state championship expectations for this Division 4 program.

5. Woodhaven (95.33)

Making waves in the Downriver League. All five of their wins have come against decent teams, but none that I consider deep playoff contenders. So, yes, I am very impressed that Woodhaven has managed an undefeated record. Though, their strength of schedule absolutely hinders their ranking in my eyes. So, there's an amazing case for Woodhaven being a top 50 team in the state (currently ranked #42 in our media poll), but #5 is a bit high for me right now.

6. Detroit Catholic Central (95.11)

Interesting that the #1 and #2 teams in the state (on 99% of opinion rankings) are #6 and #7 here. I beleive DCC to be the #1 team in Michigan right now, and much of that is because of their stellar resume. Dominant wins against Toledo Central Catholic and OLSM are really all you need to know. Very few holes on this roster. Several future D1 college football players. This team is built for a State Championship.

7. Cass Tech (94.86)

The obvious #2 in my eyes. Another amazing resume, including close wins against Toledo Central Catholic and Detroit MLK. Also, an uber-talented squad with QB [player_tooltip player_id='1111167' first='Donald' last='Tabron II'] leading the way offensively. Cass Tech has all the tools to repeat. It will very likely come down to another deep playoff matchup against Detroit Catholic Central.

8. Grand Blanc (94.58)

The Prep Redzone formula likes Grand Blanc just as much as I do. The best point differential in the Saginaw League, and they're averaging 47.4 points per game. QB [player_tooltip player_id='909904' first='Jake' last='Morrow'] has performed excellently, while I'm also impressed by how the rest of the offense has stepped up. Likewise, this seems to be an improved defensive unit. Last season, I liked the top of the OAA Red more than I liked the top of the Saginaw South. This year, my opinion is flipped.

9. Hudsonville (94.55)

Husdy has done nothing but gain confidence through the first five weeks of the season. Sitting atop the OK Red, but they haven't played any of the OK Red contenders quite yet. This week's game at Rockford is undoubtedly the biggest game of the season thus far. Next week, they've got East Kentwood. Two games that could go either way. I'm not sure if Hudsonville is a top-10 team, but in the next two weeks, we will absolutely have our answer.

10. Grosse Pointe South (94.46)

I like this ranking for Grosse Pointe South. They're 5-0, and just beat their rival, Roseville, by three scores. QB [player_tooltip player_id='1321278' first='Sam' last='Rouleau'] seems to be making a big difference this year.

11. Divine Child (94.33)

I'll absolutely be watching a Divine Child game this season, whether that be in person or online. A great 5-0 start, most recently winning a close one against Jackson Lumen Christi. QB [player_tooltip player_id='944415' first='Drew' last='Sheridan'] is having another insanely efficient season, and the team as a whole has been playing better than last season. Very excited to see what this team does in the playoffs!

12. South Lyon (94.26)

South Lyon has shaken up the Lakes Valley this season. Their first three wins were pretty expected, but the last two wins against Milford and Walled Lake Western have put this team on the map. South Lyon has looked awesome, but their strength of schedule the rest of the way is not amazing. Win this week against Mott, and South Lyon may move up even further.

13. Northville (94.09)

Interesting that Northville is still the highest-ranked team in the KLAA after its loss to Brighton. Northville is absolutely still a top-50 program, but #13 is a little high right now. No doubt that Northville could eventually climb into the top 20- but it will probably take a couple of playoff wins.

14. Mt. Pleasant (94.02)

I'm very curious to see how far Mt. Pleasant goes in this year's playoffs. In my first time watching them in person, I was incredibly impressed with their all-around offense, as well as their run defense. I could see them beating any team in Division 3 not named Detroit MLK or De La Salle (two amazing passing offenses and great defenses). Mt. Pleasant could be a genuine state championship contender.

15. Lowell (93.77)

What a shocking loss against Cedar Springs last week. Yes, it's a rivalry, and we know these games can go either way. Still, this is a concerning result for Lowell, and a great boost for Cedar Springs. This makes this week's matchup against Kenowa Hills that much more exciting!

16. Unity Christian (93.53)

UC is here to stay. A lot of talk about if this program can repeat their excellent 2024 season, and it looks like they're doing it. They look like the best team in the OK-Gold, and they have a chance to prove it this week against Zeeland West, which has struggled as of late.

17. Seaholm (93.33)

I'm surprised to see Seaholm here after their loss to Farmington. The Maples are a solid team, but this season is on track to end the same way last season did (playoff loss to crosstown rival Groves). Absolutely a plus team in the OAA Blue, but they haven't had the juice to blow teams out, which makes me concerned with possible playoff matchups. Farmington is a good team, and hopefully Seaholm is able to overcome the massive number of turnovers. Looking for mistake-free football against another good team (North Farmington) this week.

18. Davison (93.28)

Yeah, Davison is undervalued again. Honestly, they have one of the best resumes in the state, nearly on par with Saline. The win against De La Salle still holds a ton of weight, and history tells us that Davison will be a legit championship contender in the postseason. Plus, there's no denying this program's talent. Of course, QB [player_tooltip player_id='119260' first='Jaxson' last='Dosh'] is probably the best true dual-threat in Michigan right now. Even better, the defense has improved since last season. Can't wait to see the result of Davison vs. Grand Blanc!

19. Big Rapids (93.21)

A statement win against Reed City last week. Big Rapids looks like a top 50 team in the state, and they're all the way at #19 in the Prep Redzone rankings. I will say that #19 is still quite a bit high for me. Just not the strength of schedule to justify such a high ranking. Looking at the rest of Big Rapids' schedule, this team should win out and be a force in the postseason.

20. Carlson (93.12)

A ranking I can get behind. Carlson looks like the King of the Downriver League once again, though Woodhaven is a formidable challenger. Mostly blowouts for Carlson, as expected, but another super close game against Trenton. At worst, this team should be 8-1 heading into the postseason. Let's see if Carlson can bring down one of the big players this season.
