Donald slots in at #2 in this iteration of the rankings.
Obviously, he’s still an amazing blue-chip QB prospect. 52 touchdowns and 4500 yards are truly elite. Against the best teams in the state, Donald has proven to be a steady, calm, accurate, and smart quarterback.
Emphasis on “calm”. Yes, Donald is extremely competitive, but he also has a next-play mentality that few QBs have. He never gets too high, never gets too low, and remains incredibly locked in for the next play.
As expected, Donald is extremely accurate in all areas of the field, knows how to read a defense, and throws with great timing. Donald is a very well-rounded, mostly pro-style QB. I do think Donald has areas to improve (pocket presence, for one), and I’m confident Donald will make the necessary improvements to stay in the top 3 until he graduates.

If Donald gets into a rhythm early, Cass Tech is going to be hard to stop. It’s a combination of Donald settling in and the coaching staff scheming up the right plays.
As long as Donald gets into an early rhythm, I like Cass Tech’s chances in this one. This will absolutely be a game that I’ll take a close look at once the season ends.

A tale of two halves for Donald. The Cass Tech coaching staff did a good job scheming Donald for success in the second half, and he also generally looked more comfortable and accurate. Early in the game. Donald struggled to make completions on quick reads. Looking for easy, quick completions on quick comebacks, Donald was consistently a tad late, and the Toledo CC defense was fast enough to break up his passes. He also had a couple misses in the first half.
In the second half, Cass Tech was able to find some explosive plays. The Toledo CC defense was creeping up, and that’s when Donald delivered a few impressive deep balls. Just like what I saw in the offseason, Donald’s deep balls were right on the money, catching his receivers in perfect stride. Once Toledo CC started playing deeper, Donald did a better job in the short-intermediate areas of the field. Love how Donald executed the second half gameplan!

A huge bounce-back performance in the second half.
In the first half, Donald struggled against the speed of the Toledo CC defense. I thought he was a tad off schedule, sometimes being a touch late on his throws. All-around, Donald never got into a rhythm during the first half.
Something happened at halftime. Scheme adjustment, some adjustments, and Donald got into a great rhythm. He was suddenly hitting his short reads with consistency, alongside a couple of schemed-up deep shots. As the second half went on, Donald only got more accurate, aside from an interception. Toledo CC has one of the most talented secondaries in the midwest, and I’m extremely impressed with Donald’s ability to retain composure and eventually get into a flow.
Additionally, Donald looked very comfortable in the pocket all game. His offensive line did a solid job protecting him. When pressure caved in, Donald displayed solid pocket presence, but that’s definitely an area that can be improved upon. Lastly, Donald was a factor in the run game, there were very few if any designed QB runs. Donald did a nice job getting what he could, then sliding.

Donald made it look easy. This dude is scary good.
I don’t feel the need to elaborate too much- he’s already one of the most highly-touted players in the country. Size is elite. Arm is elite. Throwing motion is quick and consistent, and his accuracy is spot-on. Donald did not test, but he didn’t have to.
Plus, Donald has an extremely confident, bubbly personality. Zero big red flags. Very few questions left unanswered. With Bryce graduated, Doland is currently QB1 in Michigan by a mile.

Extremely impressed with Donald’s performance in the 2024 State Championship. Plus, he’s more mature than a good number of star freshmen I’ve seen in the past.
Keep up the work. Keep up the grades. Keep on maturing. Keep on having fun. Bright future for Donald!

Seeing him in week 1, Tabron was hurt so I wasn’t really able to get a read on what he brings to the table besides a strong arm and great size. After seeing him in the state title game, I now know that this is going to be a special player. He throws accurately with great velocity, puts a tight spiral on every throw and has the instincts in the pocket you’d expect maybe from a college freshman, not high school! He has the potential to have a great high school career and play some elite football at the next level and it’s just starting for the star QB from Cass Tech!
