Baker had a phenomenal performance. He’s just as strong, competitive, and fundamentally polished as you’d expect from a Cass Tech offensive lineman.
Out of his stance, Baker immediately gets his hands up, and keeps his shoulders and feet square. If the opposing DT attempts a bull rush or power-adjacent move, Joshua does a great job punching back and anchoring down, eliminating the DT’s momentum. When the DT tries to spin or swim, Joshua does an excellent job quickly setting his feet, moving with the DT, and either anchoring him in place or using his momentum to ride him away from the QB.
Joshua may be slightly below ideal height, and there’s still room to get stronger. Though you’d be hard-pressed to find a more fundamentally sound OG in the class of 2028.

Cass Tech is no stranger to developing offensive linemen, and Baker is looking like another big-time prospect. He is incredibly strong, often overpowering defensive linemen with overwhelming strength. He was money in the redzone, as he was able to fire low and quick off the ball and drive his opponent out of the play. When pulling, he has a good first step and builds momentum quickly, allowing him to lay a jarring hit. In the passing game, he has good feet and a strong base, and when uncovered, he goes hunting for someone to punish. I love his game and love the trajectory he is currently on.

I was happy to see Joshua starting at right guard. Watching him for a couple of drives, I loved the way Joshua blocked the run. Really good pad level, great anchor, and was able to move some big bodies. A couple of examples of good pulls and solid agility. Always looking for someone to hit, which is obviously something we look for in offensive linemen.
A very capable pass blocker as well. Quick feet, hands up, and held his ground. A couple of losses, but his opposing defender very rarely won on the first move. Impressed with what the sophomore was able to do against an excellent defensive line!
