Beehive Buzz Live: Corner Canyon at Lone Peak

This is the game of the week. Star studded cast from both sides, let's dive into some key players.   Corner Canyon    Helaman has been fantastic this season and he's been effective with his arm and his legs. The game has really slowed down for him and he's getting to his third reads with ease. His ball placement has been superb and he velocity his improved. If Lone Peak decides to use max coverage, he'll beat them with his legs and if Lone Peak decides to bring the pass rush, he'll call a quick blitz beater. He's an exceptional talent and he'll be looking to lead Corner Canyon in a tough environment and come away with a win.     Briggs will be asked to be a physical runner and to keep the Lone Peak defense honest. He shows good contact balance, arm tacklers have a tough time bringing him down, and he's been an effective receiver out of the backfield. He's a bellcow and a complete back, he should garner late offers, and he'll showcase all of his traits against a tough Lone Peak defense.     Kingston has good vision and is light on his feet, and does well churning his legs, and has good contact balance. He is a runner with good speed and gets to the edge with ease. He's an excellent runner and is an option in the passing game as he shows soft hands. He's a player who's been efficient with his touches and a player with a good ceiling.     Isaiah makes his Corner Canyon debut and he's an electric receiver who has a good release and has excellent footwork. He has good hip sink and lateral quickness and is a receiver who can get to full gear within strides. He wins at all three levels and is a receiver who will blossom in his final season. He's an excellent player and is a D1 recruit.     Kai is an exciting prospect who has put on good size this offseason without limiting his athletic traits and speed. He has good footwork and does well winning all three levels. With Corner Canyon having its full complement of receivers on hand, defenses won't be able to shade coverage, so it should be a big game for Kai against the Lone Peak defense.     Jasean is a versatile receiver. He can work in the slot and as a boundary receiver. He has a good release that allows him to avoid being pressed and stopped. He has good footwork and is a nuanced route runner who uses subtle head and shoulder fakes to get his corner turning the wrong way. Jasean is a slippery cover and is an elusive receiver with springy athletic traits and good ball skills. He's an excellent receiver, and if they have him in the slot, he should have a big day moving the chains and coming up big in high-leverage situations.     Esun is an elite tackle and will be tasked to keep the Lone Peak pass rush from taking off. He has excellent footwork to go along with his frame that is already made for the next level. He moves well laterally and he handles speed rushers just as well as power/bull rushers. For Lone Peak to be successful, they'll need their pass rush to get home and Esun will be a key player in this game,     Robby will be asked to keep the Lone Peak pass rush from getting home. Robby has excellent size and has a frame that can tack on additional weight. He has an athletic frame and he is quick on his feet and moves well overall. He has good technique and has traits that will be successful on Saturdays.     Mason has been an excellent backer this season and shows good instincts, and is a complete backer. He does well attacking and pressing forward, he sheds his blocks well, and he does a good job of weaving his way through traffic without getting bogged down. He's improved in pass coverage and does well covering his zone, and he does a good job of disrupting passing lanes.     Jayden has been the pass rusher that Corner Canyon has missed the past couple of seasons. He's been good at creating pressure and getting to the quarterback. He is quick off the line and is versatile enough to line up inside or outside. He is a defensive lineman who has good closing speed, violent hands, and can shed his blocks.     Tate has been an active and effective backer. He is best as an on-ball, attacking player, where he can read and react. When he plants his back foot down, he is explosive with his next few strides and does well with his long speed. He's been a backer who is able to bring pressure and adds a unique element in the pass rush and blitz calls.     Dustin is an active backer who does well navigating through traffic and is a physical backer. He gets to top gear within strides and a player with good reactionary skills. He moves well and does a good job of disengaging from his blocks and has good pursuit.     Dart is an exceptional athlete and he's put on good size this season. He's an excellent defensive back. He can be used to cover bigger receivers and tight ends and can come down the box to give support as his physical style of play allows him to make an impact in run defense. He is best as the deep safety as he has exceptional range and overall speed. He will make a play on the ball if it comes his way and he's an elite eraser for the defense. He'll be a multi year Power-Four starter and will be an NFL Draft pick.     Josh has blossomed as one of the cover corners for Corner Canyon and his emergence has allowed the defense to play aggressive and call on unique blitz packages. Josh has good hip fluidity, which allows him to stick to receivers and he can cover boundary receivers or move into the slot if necessary.     Joaquin has emerged for Corner Canyon and he's a player with good traits to like. He'll get late offers. He shows good hip sink, has good instincts and is a defensive back that has good overall quickness and size.     He's been used as a two way player and has helped out as an offensive lineman. He's finding a way to get on the field and contribute. He is a physical player with good strength and footwork. It'll be interesting to see his development and growth and if his future is on the offensive line side. As a defensive tackle he is a player that disrupts the middle as he has good leverage and physicality. He uses his quick hands to get his lineman off balanced and does well in run support. During the offseason at 5v5 events, he was a player that flashed good traits for either side of the ball. As an Offensive Lineman, he would be best as an interior player.     Brighton has good size and athleticism. The receiving room is crowded but he can make an impact in the redzone where his catch radius comes in handy. He is strong at the catch point and tracks the ball well. He's played some defensive back, as his length and athletic traits make him an interesting lengthy corner. Lots of tools to work with.    Lone Peak    Kepa should hit his groove as he'll have a full complement of weapons. He's missed time and missed having his full pantry of receivers this season. He is a dual threat signal caller who does well getting to his second looks and taking deep shots. His duality at the position will be handy as he can make plays and move the chains. If Corner Canyon decides to call some blitz packages, he can elude and evade and can buy additional time for his receivers. It's a big time game, and he's a big time player.     Tahi is a complete three down back and if they can get him going early and settle the offensive line down, it'll go a long way in deciding the outcome. He's the best running back on the team and is a runner that shows good patience, has the necessary vision to find a crease at the first level, does well in getting small and surviving initial contact and he has the contact balance and speed to sustain his runs and get to the edge. He's a D1 recruit and if they can get him going as an outlet recei,he can utilize his creativity in the open field.     Jaron is an elite receiver and an exceptional route runner with great footwork. He is sudden in his moves and gets to top gear in strides. He wins at all three levels and is a player that easily creates separation. He is strong at the catch point and is great with the ball in his hands and creating after the catch. He'll look to feast on the Corner Canyon secondary.     Kennan is an exceptional athlete and is a two way player. This year his focus has been on the offensive side. Kennan is great off the line and is an excellent route runner and possesses tremendous footwork. He wins at all three levels and does a good job of getting open and creating separation and will work the middle and is a physical receiver. He is strong at the catch point, has excellent hands and will look to create chaos all night for Corner Canyon.     Bott has switched full time to the offensive side and he'll be tasked to help an offensive line that will need to hold up and not allow the pass rush of Corner Canyon to be effective. Bott is a physical player with good hands and footwork. As a lineman, he can work as a tackle but might be best suited as an interior lineman. He moves well and can be used in the pulling game and he has good overall size and a frame to continue to grow into.     Tevita is a versatile defender who can be a box safety and a hybrid backer. He has good physicality, is a player that can shed his blocks and he has good footwork and moves well side to side. He can press forward and attack and does well in space and being used in coverage. He has good traits and his skill set translates to Saturday's.     Grimmer is a versatile, and active defender. He can be used as a backer, a roving safety and be used in coverage. He has good size and speed and with his versatility, he can be placed anywhere and line up anywhere. He'll be needed to help stop the high powered offense of Corner Canyon.     Zundel will be needed in this one against Corner Canyon. He is an edge rusher that does well creating pressure and getting to the quarterback. He is quick off the line and has the hip bend to win around the corner and has the quickness to close and get to the ball carrier. If he can create pressure, that'll allow Lone Peak to have versatility along the defensive front.     Kingston is an elite recruit and a playmaker. He can play on both sides of the ball and offensively, that might happen in 2026, but this year he's been a key defensive back. He can cover a bigger, more physical tight end, be used as a box safety as he has good strength and physicality and his suddenness and athletic traits allow him to be the deep safety if needed. He is an exceptional athlete and is the best defensive back in the 2029 class.    That was our look at the Game of the week.
