August Recap: Linebackers and Defensive Backs

Let's take one final look back at August.    Salesi has been everywhere for Fremont. A two-way player, he's been asked to come up huge on both sides of the ball. He was a key piece in their comeback win against Davis and defensively, he's been asked to cover premier receivers each week. He showcases great hip fluidity, has a quick burst, shows great overall speed and can be lined up anywhere and will be effective. He's been an excellent athlete and cover cornerback thus far in the season.     Jaxon has been excellent this season and has been used sparingly on offense but when called upon, has been the sparkplug needed. Defensively he's been great, he's showcasing great range, closing speed, and the lateral fluidity needed to play at thr next level. He tracks the ball well, is a fluid mover and he is primed to be a starter early on at a D1 program. He's a Power-Four starter.     Kingston has been excellent and has helped piece that Lone Peak defense which appeared to have some holes before the start of the season. He's been used as a weak side backer, covering the slot, playing both safety spots and playing that Star position. He's showcased elite traits, has good size already, and is a player with great IQ, moves exceptionally well, and has good instincts and is a physical defender. He'll be an elite prospect and a Power-Four starter.     Brock has been great this season defensively for Weber. He's helped fill some gaps that were created with departures. He has good lateral quickness and displays good hip sink. He's been an effective defensive back this year.     Murphy has been an excellent defensive back and he's helped keep big plays to a minimum. He has good ball tracking skills, has good hips, and has a quick burst. He's kept everything intact for the Lehi defensive backs.     Kava has been exceptional this year. He's an athlete who moves well, has a good burst and showcases good overall speed. He has good range and does well tracking the ball. He's an athlete that is twitchy and a threat to swing the momentum at any time.     Josh has filled the one void that Corner Canyon presented this offseason. They needed a cornerback to step up and he's done so at an excellent rate. He went from a relative unknown cornerback to a player that is the best cover cornerback for the team. He moves well, has good hip fluidity, is a player that isn't afraid to get dirty and help in run support, and he also makes a play on the ball. He's helped create multiple turnover opportunities and he's a player that is excelling at a rapid pace, he'll be a riser.     Broncs has been exceptional on the season and he's shown good physicality ans being able to diagnose plays early and eliminating big plays from happening. He moves well laterally and has good speed, he's a physical, on-ball backer with excellent traits and a Power-Four recruit.     Griffin has had an excellent start to the season. He's diagnosing plays quickly and blowing them up before they have a chance to develop into big plays. He is a physical backer, with good footwork and cover skills. He'll look to keep his high level of play the rest of the season.     Vincent has been excellent and he's been great at minimizing big plays and being a tackling machine and finding ways to the ball. He has good size and is a player that moves well laterally. He's best as an on-ball backer, but with his footwork, does well in coverage. He's a D1 recruit.     Monson has been one of the bright spots for Bingham. He is a physical, imposing backer who shows good instincts, can shed blocks and has good closing speed. He's an active backer who finds his way to the ball. He's had an exceptional season and he's a D1 recruit. Excellent ceiling.     Ben has started the season on a tear. He's an active backer with good footwork and can be an on-ball backer or play off. He shows good traits, and moves well overall. He's a player that does a good job of getting small through the line and being a free player to chase down the ball carrier.    That was our look at some Linebackers and Defensive Backs.
