PRZMD Team Previews: Bishop McNamara

A team that went 4-5 last season, Coach Calhoun and the Mustangs look to take some teams by surprise this fall. Able to play stand up OLB or a hand in the dirt DE, Jianni offers versatility as a defensive playmaker. He possesses great burst of the snap. Able to bend edge, get flat down the line and has excellent hand work to beat OTs. Athletic enough to also drop back and play in space, with twitchy hips Jianni and re-direct quickly and get sideline to sideline. He can chase down ball carriers from the backside and is quick to close on the play. I have been able to see Jayden play live multiple times over the last years and he always stood in those games. Amazing over 700 receiving yards on 40 catches with 5 TDs, Jayden adds a big play threat to McNamara's offense. A size, speed combo WR Jayden is a fluid runner with smooth elusiveness able to glide by defenders. Able to go up and get the catch over the DB as well getting good YAC, look for Jayden to be a favorite targe of BM QB [player_tooltip player_id='1353100' first='Jayden' last='Ford'] this season. A UMass commit with a ton of potential and upside as he continues to develop. A long lean DE edge rusher Donovan jumps off the snap and is a threat to any QB he faces. A nice overall athlete, he is a basketball player is still new to the game but you can see the skill set translate. Plays on his toes, smooth hips and nice COD ability. Donovan has played some WR in the past as well and he can run, jump and play with bend/burst. Taariq comes over from playing at Riverdale last season and looks to be another key piece to a loaded offense for the Mustangs. A 5'9" 210lbs Taariq is a bowling ball RB who is hard to bring down once he gets going. He runs behind his pads and doesn't get tackled easily. With a low center of gravity, shifty and nimble feet and ability to make quick cuts at the LOS; Taariq can make something out of nothing in the run game. A muscled up guy who also brings good speed Track kid with a recorded 11.6 100M, Dkwan can hit and cover. Rangy player with shifty hips and a big wingspan allows him to cover ground and go make a play on the ball. He is able to run the alley and smack the ball carrier as well. Dkwan's speed and quick twitch also allows him to be a plus impact player in the return game for BM. A contributor on both sides of the line, he makes his biggest impact at DL. Khaleel is a player with power, strength and a high high motor. He has shown the ability to play anywhere along the DL - odd front DE, NG, and conventional 4-3 inside DT. A physical thick built, good lower half D-lineman, Khaleel is able to get great leverage when engaged with OL and over power them at the LOS. He has nice short area burst, able to fight through contact, shed off blockers and quick to find the ball. He moves and runs well, a nice athlete at his size. Will get on his horse and go chase down the ball and play to the whistle. He is also a versatile DB allowing for him and Dkwan to line up in multiple spots and move around freely to play make. Hicks is best coming downhill supporting the run and covering the middle of the field &amp; flats. He is quick to react, close on the play and is a strong tackler. Andrew is well slapped together and physical enough to even play as a hybrid SS/OLB. Mainly plays as a WR but lines up and shows well at CB as well. With a long frame and the ability to drop his weight, change direction quickly, paired with twitchy hips allows Alex to be a effective route runner. He also has good speed to pair with that as he ran an official 4.53 40 at the National Preps Spring Showcase this past May. A natural pass catcher, able to go across the middle or get vertical. Alex uses his frame well to shield the ball from the defender and uses his length to go get the ball. He makes an impact on both sides of the ball at OG and DT, but DL is where he will make his home at. Tru plays with good pop a the LOS and fires out off the snap. He's a high motor play with active hands. Tru has multiple rush moves he can use, able to dip and slip past blockers and use a good club/slap move to get OLs hands from getting in to his chest. Nicknames "Turbo", Donovan has burst, speed and wiggle. Donovan has quick feet and shifty hips which leads to him often making defenders miss at the LOS. He is also a threat in the passing game out the backfield. Able to be used in screens, swing passes or even lining up in the slot. Able to line up at guard &amp; tackle, he adds some bulk and strength along the line. George comes off the ball with aggressiveness and power. He has strength in his hips/lower half and gets good leverage when engaged. George will get into the rusher's chest and over power them with strength. He is a mauler is who drives and finishes blocks. George will not hesitiate to put guys in the dirt and plays through the whistle. Another player for them who will see time on both sides of the ball at OL/DL. Myles plays with good explosiveness, and physicality. Violent at the POA, he also displays a high motor and quick feet At OL, Myles shows a good punch/leverage when engaged. At DL he has the strength to over power blockers, shed and find the ball. A big body kid at 6'7" 265lbs. and self reported 84" wingspan, he looks every bit the part of the hoof of a Power 4 kid. Mainly playing TE/DE in his past, Cain looks to continue that role at BM this season, as well as some H-back style work. I think he will over time this season and in the future shift towards being an OT. He has gained roughly 20lbs+ since last season and has the frame to carry 300lbs+ easily and still move the way he does. Still new to the game, basketball player, he runs well and uses his size to his advantage. He ranks as the #3 WR in the 2027 class and holds two Power 4 offers. Xavier continues to grow and is now standing at 6'1" up from 5'11" last season. A smooth fluid WR, Xavier has strong hands and will go up and snatch the ball out of the air. He posses good body control, tracks and finds the ball well and puts himself in the right spots to make the play. A top 10 QB in his class he looks to lead a McNamara offense to new heights. Jayden is a natural thrower as he gets the ball out with impressive timing and anticipation. He is accurate and composed in the pocket, able to make passes across all 3 levels. He has good size at 6'2" 205lbs and plays with speed and recklessness. Ethan is a very effective blitzer from multiple angles. He has excellent timing and burst through the LOS that leads to lots of tackles for loss and sacks. He has smooth hips that allow him to re-direct and get sideline to sideline, play in space, and be effective in pass coverage as well.
