Our game of the week and the game I'll be at is Timpview at West. It's an exciting matchup of two 5A teams with lofty aspirations.   West   They are built to win now and have a good window for the next couple of seasons, as long as they can keep the core intact. They're a high octane team that is aggressive and physical. Let's break down some key players for the game    Lopati has made his commitment to the University of Illinois, and he's poised for a fantastic season. 4,000 all-purpose yards and 40 total touchdowns are well within his range of outcomes. He is an exceptional talent with great processing speed, gets to his third reads, has a quick and compact delivery while displaying great arm talent. He has great pocket navigation and is a threat to move the chains. He's a power rusher, in the mold of Jalen Hurts. He kicks off the season against a physical Timpview defense, but he'll look to dice them up through the air and ground.     Hamilton is poised for an exceptional season and the Swiss army knife of the offense will be used everywhere. He can line up in the slot, be motioned out, take direct snaps and be a traditional running back. He showcases great vision, elusiveness and has good physicality to his game. His footwork is excellent and he'll be asked to pick up chunk yards against this aggressive Timpview front seven.     Toala is an exciting two-way athlete and a dynamic player. He is an exceptional route runner and has great footwork, he displays strong hands and has good anticipation. Great size to his game and a player who you line up as a defensive back against the opposing team's WR1 and then when on offense, draws the opposing team's shutdown corner and he still excels at both ends. He'll be fun to watch against Timpview     It's a big year for Monson. There's vacated targets left behind due to graduation and he is primed to absorb some of those targets and be a key playmaker. He has great size, shows good footwork, and is strong at the catch point. He is a physical receiver and will do well in the red and green zones. It'll be interesting to see his usage against Timpview who has physical corners.     Mani transfers in from Bingham, where he was arguably their best receiver. He is a twitchy, versatile athlete who can be a boundary receiver, or move inside to the slot to get a free release. He'll be a volume player and a safety blanket on key 3rd downs. Big year is ahead for him.     Lopati is a premier Offensive Lineman and will showcase his traits against a physical Timpview front four. Lopati has done well this offseason and has elevated his play. He is light on his feet, moves well laterally, is good in pass blocking and physical in run blocking and will get to the second level. He'll get Power-Four offers.     Samiu has a great ceiling. He is versatile and can play both sides of the trenches. He has the size and frame to potentially be an elite blindside tackle and is a great athlete and physical player to be an excellent interior Defensive Lineman. He should earn reps on both sides of the ball and this will be a big year for him. He projects as a Power-Four starter.     Lotulelei is an exceptional talent who is quick twitched and explosive off the line. He blends physicality and speed beautifully and is set up for a big season. 15+ sacks is in his range of outcomes. He will be a Power-Four starter. Exceptional talent.     Savery singlehandedly changed outcomes of games last year. He is an exceptional talent and can lineup anywhere along the defensive line. He's a player that can get 20+ sacks this season. He is an elite rusher and will be coveted in recruiting and end up being a Power-Four recruit and starter.     Lester played a pivotal role last year when injuries hit the West defense. He blossomed when given a chance and that should pay dividends. He is an exciting defensive back with good hip fluidity, showcases good burst and quickness to his game, he has good range, anticipates well and is a ball hawk. He'll be tasked to help stymie the Timpview passing attack.     Manu has done a terrific job this offseason and has crafted his game to a physical cover corner with great instincts and an alpha mindset. He's primed for a big year and his coming out party will result in Power-Four offers coming his way. Uber talented cover corner.     Reed is a twitchy cover corner who can be a boundary corner or slide into the slot. That versatility allows him to be in any defensive package and he is looking to have a big year. He's made significant strides this offseason and he'll get D1 offers come his way, he's still honing his craft and is already a D1 talent.    Timpview   Timpview goes through an offseason with loses in the portal and brings in a new Head Coach and a new Offensive Coordinator. They look to piece everything together, so let's take a look at their key players that will need to come through against West.    Dennis is an elite athlete and our #1 ranked prospect for the 2028 class. His home will be at receiver but he's expected to take snaps at quarterback this year. We'll have to see how that split goes, but Dennis is a premier receiver. Fantastic off the line, has great footwork and route running ability, he is twitchy and easily creates separation, he'll high point the ball and is strong at the catch point. Dennis is exceptional with the ball in his hands and creating on his own. He'll be a national recruit and will be a premier Power-Four starter and the ceiling to get to the NFL. Elite athlete.     Engemann transfers in from Orem and it'll be interesting if he ends up being the QB1, which would allow Dennis back to his natural position at wide receiver. I've had a chance to see him this offseason and he's got a good arm on him and places the ball well, if he gets reps early against West, he'll need to use his footwork to navigate the pocket and bide additional time. He's an interesting player for the game.     Richards has great size and is a receiver who moves well and does a good job of using his frame to shield defenders from contested catches. He'll be a factor in the red zone and depending on how much Dennis plays at quarterback, could be the WR1. He'll look to be an easy target for his signal caller and it starts against an aggressive West defense.     Moe transfers in and looks to be the leading sack getter for Timpview. He is an excellent pass rusher with good size, moves well laterally and has good quickness. The transfer up shouldn't affect him at all, he's a good talent. He's a D1 prospect.     Wilkerson is a player that has caught the eye all offseason and he'll be tasked to help stymie the West passing attack. He moves well, does a good job of sticking with a receiver and he has good ball tracking skills and will make a play on the ball.     To'a is a player who moves well, has good anticipation and brings physicality to the secondary. He has good hips and does a good job of sticking to a receiver and showcases good closing speed.
