Lopati wasn’t the top performer on any of the days but was consistently near the top in everything. His arm strength shines on the intermediate throws and is an anticipatory thrower who can lead receivers and set them up for success. He looks much bigger than when I last saw him and is tight mechanically.
Lopati had a nice day completing 15 of 21 passes with five touchdowns and one interception. He was setting up his receivers for a lot of yards after the catch and had a strong last two days of the camp.
Lopati struggled early but recovered nicely and very few quarterbacks were as good on the later throws as him. He had a little too much air under the deep throws early on but once he settled in, he was hitting guys in stride on the more challenging throws.
Last year’s West showcase, Kam came out and showed his big-time arm and elevated his stock, this year he came in for his final showcase and cemented himself as the top signal caller in the state, no matter the classification. Kam has filled out his frame, and he showcased his arm talent. He threw with enhanced velocity and showed pinpoint accuracy. The ball jumps out of his hands, and he throws a nice, tight spiral. He’s a power runner with his legs, and it’s only a matter of time before the other services give him another star. He was the top Quarterback of the week.
Kam has been the QB1 in the state for the class since 2023 and the talent was always there. He has all the necessary tools you want to see. He has the size, the frame, the arm talent, processing speed, and the mobility you want to see. He navigates the pocket well; he will climb the pocket, manipulate the pocket, and is a power runner. He has a quick delivery, throws with good velocity, and throws his receivers open. He’s a tremendous talent and he is the unquestioned QB1 of the class and he has been in a tier of his own.
Kam is an elite signal caller and he’s had a weird start to the season. He wasn’t needed in the season opener as they ran for 300+ yards and last week was a superior team and he only needed to play a half of football. This should be a game that he’ll be called on and he’ll showcase his entire arsenal. As a passer, he throws with good anticipation, leads his receivers open, and has exceptional arm talent. He is a power runner who will make you pay with his legs. If you’ve never seen him play, he is akin to Jalen Hurts play style. An elite prospect.
Lopati only played a half but showed all of his tools. The good arm, quick processing, and the ability to navigate within the pocket. He threw for five touchdown passes and knew when to stress the defense and when to lay it up. It was a good week for him.
Lopati has made his commitment to the University of Illinois, and he’s poised for a fantastic season. 4,000 all-purpose yards and 40 total touchdowns are well within his range of outcomes. He is an exceptional talent with great processing speed, gets to his third reads, has a quick and compact delivery while displaying great arm talent. He has great pocket navigation and is a threat to move the chains. He’s a power rusher, in the mold of Jalen Hurts. He kicks off the season against a physical Timpview defense, but he’ll look to dice them up through the air and ground.
Kam is our preseason Region 4 MVP. He is arguably the best quarterback in the state, regardless of classification. He’s an elite talent with an exceptional arm talent and all the tools to be an elite Power-Four multi-year starter with NFL upside. He showed his immense talent last season and has made all the necessary steps to take command of the region and lead a team to a state title.
Lopati is primed for a huge season. He has full command of the offense and has looked great this offseason. He has a cannon of an arm, great velocity, quick processing, great ball placement, and is an elusive power runner who has good pocket navigation and will manipulate defenders.
