Prep Redzone Virginia takes a quick look at several Tidewater Region prospects that are in the updated Class of 2027 high school football prospect rankings. At some point, I'll give a full evaluation on some of these players. For now, I'll include a couple of quick thoughts.

[player_tooltip player_id='1311468' first='Kasir' last='Patterson'] – WR, Salem -6'4”, 180 lbs, Overall ranking: No. 8
Patterson has reported offers from Duke, East Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia. Here is what PRZ Virginia's Cole Laing had to say about Patterson back in April: CLICK HERE.
Ed O.B.'s quick thoughts: He is a man amongst boys on the football field. It's scary when a receiver of his size can make people miss in space. I'm impressed with his speed and ability to eat up the cushion of defensive backs. He'll easily be a 20-plus offer guy by the time it's all said and done. Patterson easily stretches the field and is great at tracking the football while in flight.

[player_tooltip player_id='447439' first='Matt' last='Williams'] – ATH, Maury - 6'0”, 150 lbs, Overall ranking: No. 10
Williams has reported offers from Charlotte, Duke, East Carolina, Jackson State, Maryland, Old Dominion, Syracuse, and Toledo. Here is what Cole Laing had to say about him back in April: CLICK HERE.
Ed O.B.'s quick thoughts: I'll have more to say about him at a later date, but the first four plays show Williams intercepting passes and taking them back for touchdowns. That, my friends, is what a true playmaker does. He also plays quarterback, but he'll likely transition to defensive back at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1311471' first='Jack' last='Strother'] – DB/WR, Salem (Virginia Beach) - 6'1”, 185 lbs, Overall ranking: No. 14
Strother has reported offers from Buffalo, UConn, and East Carolina. Here is what Cole Laing had to say about him back in March: CLICK HERE.
Ed O.B.'s quick thoughts: He's got a double designation right now in our rankings, but I'd lean towards safety when talking about what he'll be at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='447440' first='Ty'jae' last='Curtis'] – RB, Oscar Smith - 5'8”, 180 lbs, Overall ranking: No. 34
Curtis has reportedly received an offer from Jackson State. Curtis earned a First Team PRZVA All Virginia Combine First Team selection after the camp in May by [player_tooltip player_id='1680749' first='Carl' last='Frederick']: CLICK HERE.
Ed O.B.'s quick thoughts: He's a little on the smaller side but plays big and makes big plays. Curtis runs with great balance, consistently moves forward, and possesses good vision and decision-making skills when it comes to reading his blocks.

[player_tooltip player_id='400842' first='Tayjon' last='Palmer'] – WR, Green Run - 6'2”, 180 lbs, Overall ranking: No. 42
Palmer received his first Division I offer from Syracuse on May 9th. See what Cole Laing had to say about Palmer back in February: CLICK HERE.
Ed O.B.'s quick thoughts: His highlights feature him catching a few red zone touchdowns, running the football out of the wildcat, and even throwing the football. I think he'll have more opportunities to showcase his skills as a receiver this upcoming season. Kudos to Syracuse for recognizing his potential.

[player_tooltip player_id='1311644' first='Jamaree' last='Horton'] – DL/OL, Indian River - 6'4”, 295 lbs, Overall ranking: No. 43
Horton has reportedly received an offer from Marshall. See what [player_tooltip player_id='1680749' first='Carl' last='Frederick'] had to say about Horton back in May: CLICK HERE.
Ed O.B.'s quick thoughts: He plays on both sides of the line, but I like Horton's upside on defense. Horton is massive and plugs up the middle, making it hard for opposing teams to run the football anywhere near him.

[player_tooltip player_id='1311698' first='Terrance' last='Ealy'] – RB, Green Run - 5'6”, 214 lbs, Overall ranking: No. 57
Ed O.B.'s quick thoughts: Ealy is one of the smallest (height-wise) but most productive players on this list. He ran for over 1,000 yards and scored 13 total touchdowns last season. It helps that he hits the hole quickly and is usually at the second level before anyone is even close to putting a hand on him. Ealy plays big and does his best work between the tackles. He's over 200 pounds and doesn't go down easily at all once he gets going north-south.

[player_tooltip player_id='1313461' first='Kaeden' last='Drenning'] – ATH, Salem (Virginia Beach) - 6'0”, 175 lbs, Overall ranking: No. 138
Drenning's first Division I offer came from UConn back on April 29th, 2024.
Ed O.B's quick thoughts: Drenning appeared in four games last season. He's listed as both a wide receiver and a safety. Based on the highlights I viewed, I believe the majority of his recruiting interest will centre on his play as a defensive back, at least for right now.
