Fresh off Maury’s huge 14-13 triumph over Varina, do not expect the offers to slow down for our number 1 ranked athlete.

Williams’ offer list includes ODU, Charlotte, Duke, Syracuse, and Jackson State. If you look at his highlights, the first few plays tell you all you need to know as to why he’s being highly recruited as a cornerback. His ability to read the quarterback’s eyes, react quickly to the ball, and make plays on the football (like the interceptions, including pick-sixes), put him in the blue-chip category. What stands out to me is his playmaking ability after he intercepts a pass. He’s looking to score off the turnovers he gets. Williams has excellent speed, and there aren’t many receivers he faces who can run past him. Look for him to have a strong junior year campaign.

Our top-ranked ATH from last year’s initial Class of ’27 rankings, Matt is a player you will see all over the field for Maury. He has found a home as a CB on their defense, and that is where I see his future at the next level. He also plays QB and WR, and with the graduation of Au’tori Newkirk Au’tori Newkirk QB Maury | 2025 State VA , we could see him more at QB this next season. As a DB, patience sticks out in both his Press and Off/Soft coverage alignments. He has the athleticism you look for with lateral movement, change of direction, hip fluidity, and speed, which prompted him to be our top ATH. He plays tight man coverage to lock down outside WRs, and shows very good processing in Zone coverage, allowing him to jump the pass and force interceptions. On offense, you see his athleticism shine at WR in creating separation. There is not enough film to give a firm evaluation of his QB play last season, but he shows the arm strength and athleticism to be a weapon for Maury if he becomes a feature this fall. Overall, a very good prospect who has picked up several D1 offers.

At safety or defensive back he’s too strong and technically sound to create separation from. He covers a lot of ground, you can see how he reads opposing quarterbacks eyes very impressed.

Playing quarterback at Maury, Williams has a nice touch on his deep ball and is very elusive in the pocket. There are many reasons why he has 5 division 1 offer, colleges can see his ridiculous talent.
