Expert Analysis
Robert King | Prep Redzone Scout
Travis was absolutely electric vs. Indian River today. He finished the day with 7 receptions/174 yards/3 TDs. He scored on two dump passes to go for 72 and 40 yards. After that, he had a diving catch in the end zone on a fly route. Travis took over the 1st half of the game and was the most dynamic player of the afternoon. He showed his ability to stretch the field, but also be put in motion and score on short routes. His versatility as an ATH and route runner is unique. Travis is long, fluid, and super smooth. He can turn a little into a lot very fast. His transition speed as he gets to the second and third level is difficult to defend. He has more Percy Harvin/Athlete in his toolbox than I gave him credit for. There is an endless stream of plays and routes that he can score on. The long strider is fun to watch and makes the game look easy. Travis looks ready for the Big 10.

Johnson caught 63 passes for 1,053 yards and 17 touchdowns last season. He currently has 30-plus FBS offers to his name. Not only is he one of the top players in the state, but he is also one of the top players in the nation. He’s one of several key returners for Oscar Smith, and it’ll be exciting to see what Johnson does for a finale going into his senior year.

We bumped up Johnson one spot from a year ago to 4th overall as he heads into his final year with Oscar Smith. The Michigan commit is ready to play Power 4 football now in my opinion, but his Tigers teammates and him have another state title in mind first.

is a top nationally ranked wide receiver who made some ridiculous receptions in the 7v7 tournaments this summer. You may have noticed a couple on the NFL Network as he was playing for the nationally regarded Level 82 and making a name for himself.

has committed to Michigan. The Wolverines have made a recent dent into the state of Virginia and nabbing arguably the top receiver is big. Johnson was a first team all state/region performer for the Tigers, he had well over 20 Power 4 offers. Michigan continues an impressive recruiting class in spite of the impending sanctions. Having a kid like Johnson in your building will only help in their rebuild. With 17 touchdowns as a junior, Oscar Smith returns him along with nearly their entire starting offense from the title team.

is a vertical threat with the size and skill set to dominate on the outside. He consistently beats press and off-man coverage with length, stride, and speed. Johnson’s ability to win contested catches, particularly in the red zone, stands out. He frequently high-points the football and shows great body control. Johnson also demonstrates smooth acceleration and can take short passes the distance. His highlights showcase his yards-after-catch (YAC) potential. Johnson can run the whole route tree and displays strong spatial awareness when adjusting to defenders. He’s on the lean side, but he has the frame to put on some good weight once he gets on the college campus of his choice. I’m impressed with how fast he gets to top speed for an athlete his size. I can’t wait to see what he does for an encore this upcoming season.

. Not far behind Brown is this young man who should have Tiger fans expecting big things this coming fall. Johnson is a difference maker with 5 division 1 offers already to his name, he is that good. Another big time target at 6’3 who also can fly in the open field with the football in his hands. Blessed to be in a family of athletes Johnson big brother Tory is set to play for West Virginia this fall, will he follow in big bros footsteps? Only time will tell on that, for now expect his name to climb up recruiting rankings across the country.
