Prep Redzone is a scouting service first and foremost. We strive to provide rankings for not just the top players in each class, but for the guys who will fill D2 and D3 rosters. But as we scout, we also pick up information about where players intend to play at the next level. I'll never spoil a player's announcement, even if I know where they'll end up. That's not my job and it's not enjoyable. However, as players narrow down their lists and ultimately commit, we can add some context.

I also love seeing guys we like being rewarded with offers. Here, we break down some recent offers, look at some trimmed lists, and provide context behind a recent commitment.

New Offers Rolling In

Boston College was busy this week, coming down to Charlotte to offer some top underclassmen, many at Providence Day.

Standout 2027 defensive backs [player_tooltip player_id='1610603' first='Tre' last='Geathers'], [player_tooltip player_id='1239187' first='Caleb' last='Cooper'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1608315' first='Moses' last='Poku-Kankam'] all earned offers from the Eagles. Those three all have incredible versatility and athleticism, something colleges crave. Cooper can play both ways, Geathers can play in the box or on the outside and Poku-Kankam can play linebacker or either safety position, even playing a "big slot" role at times.

[player_tooltip player_id='1029786' first='Griff' last='Galloway'], our top 2027 prospect in the state, also earned an offer from the Eagles to go along with numerous others. His ability to play inside or outside has college teams excited, as does his play strength.

Elsewhere on Providence Day's roster, linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='896158' first='Quintin' last='McCray'], who we really like, earned an offer from West Georgia. He's really transformed his body over the last six months to put on college size and strength.

South Carolina was active in North Carolina as well, offering fast-rising corner [player_tooltip player_id='1661003' first='Kosci' last='Barnes'], a long defensive back from Grimsley. A bit of a late-riser, Barnes has now earned multiple Power Four offers in the last month.

[player_tooltip player_id='1170182' first='Elijah' last='Littlejohn'] transferred back to West Charlotte and has seen another run in his recruitment, earning an offer from Penn State. Teammate [player_tooltip player_id='949642' first='Michael' last='Griffin Jr']. earned offers from Florida and Georgia Tech, while teammates [player_tooltip player_id='473951' first='Antoine' last='Johnson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1299433' first='Donte' last='Nicholson'] earned Kennesaw State offers.

Finally, a scouting favorite of ours, 2026 safety prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1024870' first='Brady' last='Ravin'] earned an offer from Grinnell College in Iowa.

Clayton Athlete Chooses Position, and School

Clayton athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1243204' first='Aiden' last='Smalls']' recruitment has always been about finding the best fit. A former receiver at Cardinal Gibbons, Smalls transferred to Clayton last year and became an impressive quarterback under the tutelage of quarterback guru Scott Chadwick.

Smalls' recruitment has always been about what he decides about his future position. He holds offers from teams like Boston College, NC State, and Virginia Tech as an athlete, with offers from FCS and Group of Five schools like Liberty, Bethune-Cookman, and Rice.

The question was, "quarterback or athlete?"

Smalls told me earlier this week that he only recently decided.

"(I decided)on Sunday," Smalls told me. "It was Easter night and I knew I wanted to be the quarterback of the team."

The Rice Owls offered him that opportunity, showed him love as a quarterback, and earned his commitment.

"Rice showed me a lot of love, similar to NC State," Smalls said. "It was between those two. The thing about Rice is the quarterback position. They want me to come in there and lead the team off the rip, honestly. I can do that if I get my body right. My ultimate thing was to be a quarterback and lead the team."

He has the arm talent to do that and ultimately, the option to play quarterback put Rice at the top of the list for Smalls. Our top quarterback in Johnston County, I like the move for Smalls. No matter how athletic he is, it's always a risk to commit to a school without a designated position, or even to change positions between high school and college. He's learned from the best, and we think he can contribute early for the Owls.

He visited Rice about two weeks ago and connected with Scott Abell and staff. That's when the Owls started to rise to the top. Now, he's made it official.
