In the month of June, we're updating all of our prospect rankings on Prep Redzone Oklahoma. We've seen a ton of football this offseason from the 7v7 circuit to camps to most recently with team camps. We kick off our month of ranking updates this week with a look at the 2027 class as they head into their sophomore seasons this fall. Earlier this year, we unveiled the first batch of 2027 rankings with a top 25. This time around, we have a top 50. You can check out the updated rankings right here. In this post, we're putting the spotlight on the quarterback position. This breakdown features every quarterback listed in the top 50, with the exception of [player_tooltip player_id='891992' first='Kason' last='Delgado'] because he was covered earlier this week. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma every Monday this month for another ranking update!

We kick off this breakdown with Mangum quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='916843' first='Remington' last='Laughlin'] and he's one of the top 2027 quarterbacks we want to watch this season. And it's strictly because of what happened last year. Laughlin was one of the freshmen we wanted to watch but his season came to an end before it ever got started. So now, Laughlin is back and looking to make up for lost time and we're fired up to see what he's able to do. And when we got a chance to see him in person back at our January camp, he really impressed. So when the pads come on this fall, we're expecting him to have that breakout season.

Mustang standout [player_tooltip player_id='473873' first='Tyson' last='Pogi'] is very clearly one of the top basketball/football prospects in the state. Earlier this month, Pogi was also rated as the top overall prospect in the Prep Hoops 2027 rankings and he's one of the top quarterback prospects as well. Pogi got thrown into the fire last season when Mustang's QB1 went down with a season-ending injury. Pogi struggled at first but immediately started showing improvement, week after week and by the end of the season he was putting up monster numbers. Now, we're unsure at this point how much he'll play this fall because that QB1 is back but he's still a name to know.

Sapulpa quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1035272' first='Braddox' last='Broughton'] is going to be a very intriguing name to watch this season as he made the move from Edison to Sapulpa this offseason. Last year, Broughton got plenty of playing time and showed plenty of moments that he's a quarterback to watch in this class. He has a strong arm and is actually one of the more experienced 2027 quarterbacks coming into this season. And the Chieftains have the potential to be really good on the offensive side of the ball. They are moving up to 6A-2 so the competition will go up but this could be a big year for Broughton in terms of production.

When you're talking about some of the younger classes, some prospects are outstanding but they just haven't gotten a chance to show it yet on Friday nights. Muskogee signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='716513' first='Payton' last='Lang'] is one of those guys and it's pretty simple. He's a back up to arguably the best quarterback in the state. So he's waiting his turn with the Roughers but we got a good chance to watch him this offseason while playing 7v7 and then a little at team camp and he definitely looks the part. And if you ask Muskogee's coaches, the Roughers will be just fine on offense when it's finally time for him to take over at QB1.

Here's another name that's in a similar position to Laughlin and Lang. Owasso signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='1235926' first='Drew' last='Frankenfield'] is a quarterback prospect that appears to have a lot of potential but as of right now, it's inexperienced potential but that could be changing very soon. It's widely assumed that Frankenfield will be QB1 for the Rams when they take the field this season and we'll get a good chance to evaluate him further this fall. Frankenfield will also benefit greatly from having one of the best, if not the best offensive line units in the state. It wouldn't shock us if Frankenfield makes a big jump up the rankings this fall.

Hilldale quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='595692' first='Talon' last='Shaffer'] is the perfect example of not judging a quarterback before you see him actually spin it. Shaffer isn't the biggest quarterback prospect in the class and he's not going to jump off the charts from that standpoint but watch him throw the ball. The pure arm talent is off the charts with him and as long as he continues to grow, his stock in this class will grow right along with him. Because he has a terrific arm and we've seen it a few times in a 7v7 setting as well as at team camp in May. It looks effortless and again, he just throws the ball at a very high level for where he's at right now.
