at the quarterback position. Shaffer got onto the field last season as a freshman and ended up starting four games for the Hornets. We’ve written about Shaffer a few times this offseason and we’ve been impressed with his performance last season as well as what we’ve seen from him in person. Between 7v7 tournaments and seeing Hilldale at their team camp, we’ve seen quite a bit of Shaffer over the last six months. Shaffer is another player on this Hilldale team that could take that next step this season. He’s a quarterback that is not afraid of the spotlight and ready to perform at a high level.

is the perfect example of not judging a quarterback before you see him actually spin it. Shaffer isn’t the biggest quarterback prospect in the class and he’s not going to jump off the charts from that standpoint but watch him throw the ball. The pure arm talent is off the charts with him and as long as he continues to grow, his stock in this class will grow right along with him. Because he has a terrific arm and we’ve seen it a few times in a 7v7 setting as well as at team camp in May. It looks effortless and again, he just throws the ball at a very high level for where he’s at right now.

in person a few times this offseason during 7v7 tournaments. You combine that with a look at his film from last fall and we have a pretty good idea of the quarterback Shaffer is today. And that’s a quarterback with a high ceiling moving forward. He’s looked great this offseason and he started four games for Hilldale last fall. Shaffer has a very strong arm and that, along with his ability to make quick decisions and his quick delivery, you have a quarterback that’s on the rise in the state’s 2027 class. Last fall, he made some tough throws into tight windows and had success. He’s not the biggest quarterback prospect but he certainly plays bigger than his frame. The arm strength and quick delivery make the size questions a non-factor at this moment. He could take a big step forward this fall.Access all of Prep Redzone
