The Prep Redzone Exposure Series made the annual stop in Oklahoma on Sunday. We had some outstanding talent from all over the state in attendance and from some of the surrounding states. We will have a TON of breakdowns on Prep Redzone Oklahoma following the event and a lot of video on our Prep Redzone Oklahoma YouTube Channel this week as well. In this breakdown, I'm putting the spotlight on the quarterback position with five quarterbacks that stood out to me on Sunday afternoon in Broken Arrow! And heads up, these aren't the only quarterbacks that performed well. Check out the website for more of our breakdowns!

[player_tooltip player_id='1704522' first='Gabe' last='Gurley'] - 2029 - Cushing

This was my first chance to watch Cushing's new quarterback in person with 2029 signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='1704522' first='Gabe' last='Gurley'] moving to Cushing from Ada. Gurley was slated to come to our February camp but had to sit it out with a foot injury. He was one of the top quarterbacks a few weeks ago at our Colorado showcase and then he backed it up with another outstanding performance on Sunday in Broken Arrow. Gurley is a prospect with a very high upside and he's stepping into a situation in Cushing where he could be one of the top breakout stars in Oklahoma this fall. It also helps that we got to watch Gurley work rep after rep with some of his Cushing teammates. The Tigers have put out some very productive quarterbacks over the last five years and Gurley could end up being the next one. He really impressed me on Sunday from start to finish.

[player_tooltip player_id='1249314' first='Liam' last='Kaplan'] - 2028 - Holland Hall

Holland Hall 2028 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1249314' first='Liam' last='Kaplan'] is on our shortlist of quarterbacks we want to watch in the fall when the lights come on. We've watched Kaplan quite a bit in our camps as well as our 7v7 tournaments. And every time we watch him, it looks like he's gotten better than the last time. But whether it's a camp or a 7v7 tournament, you're talking about something very different than when the pads come on under the Friday night lights. Kaplan has really impressed us over the last six months and there's a lot to like about his game. Now, we want to see how it translates to Holland Hall this fall. On Sunday, Kaplan not only showcased plenty of accuracy with his passes but his arm appears to be stronger. The ball was jumping out of his hand and he was doing almost everything at a very high level. He's definitely a name to watch this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1293011' first='Promised' last='Johnson'] - 2027 - Bristow

Bristow 2027 standout [player_tooltip player_id='1293011' first='Promised' last='Johnson'] continues to be one of the more underrated playmakers in the state. The first time we watched Johnson in person was around two years ago. He played multiple positions on both sides of the ball so needless to say, the athleticism was off the charts. We've also seen Johnson perform in our camps in the past and on Sunday, it looks like he's really grown as a pure passer of the football. And that's something that should get college coaches excited because in that camp setting, Johnson was just standing in the pocket and throwing in 1 on 1 situations. But in a game scenario, Johnson gets to unlock so much about his game that makes him a unique prospect. He also looks like he's put on some muscle and we continue to think that he's a name that should get more pub moving forward in Oklahoma's 2027 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1259787' first='Semmie' last='Guenther'] - 2028 - Gentry (Arkansas)

We didn't have many out of state athletes on Sunday but Gentry (Arkansas) 2028 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1259787' first='Semmie' last='Guenther'] was one of them. We got a chance to watch Guenther quite a bit this offseason at various Prep Redzone 7v7 tournaments. He showed up to Broken Arrow on Sunday and it was another chance to watch him spin it in a camp setting. And it wasn't surprising that he was one of the top quarterbacks in attendance. First off, Guenther is going to pass the eye test from a physical standpoint. And then he had one of the best arms of any quarterback that was there on Sunday. Guenther is one of those quarterbacks that makes the hard throws look incredibly easy. He was very accurate with the football, despite the wind. After watching him a handful of times in the last few months, it's safe to say it's been a very successful offseason.

[player_tooltip player_id='595692' first='Talon' last='Shaffer'] - 2027 - Hilldale

Hilldale 2027 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='595692' first='Talon' last='Shaffer'] is another prospect that is no stranger to shining bright at Prep Redzone events. It also feels like he should be graduating high school in a few weeks and he still has another year left. Shaffer has been coming to PRZ camps or 7v7 tournaments since his freshman year and has routinely performed well in each of them. This weekend in particular, Shaffer was going back to work at the quarterback position. One underrated thing that stood out to us about his performance on Sunday was just how vocal he was with the other quarterbacks. And it makes sense considering the experience he has at these events and just in general. But he knew how to take charge of the group and he had some really strong reps throughout the day. We're looking forward to seeing him strap it up one more time for Hilldale this fall.
