Continue ReadingJamier was a big time play maker for the Wayne Warriors as a freshman. The young speedster checks in as our #1 wide receiver and #2 overall player in the 2027 class. Averette-Brown is not just one of the fastest football players in the country, he’s one of the fastest freshman in the country period. Jamier took first place in 60M at the Addidas indoor nationals and has set the freshman record in the event. So, to say his speed is elite would be an understatement. That speed translates to the football field as you see him consistently run by defenders as he stretches the field vertically. As all young receivers Averette-Brown is still expanding his route running tree. The physical traits are there to do so. Not only does Brown possess the straight-line speed, he has the explosives and athleticism to make strong breaks and create quick separation on short and intermediate routes. Jamier or “Showtime” as he’s nicknamed, has the ability to go get it on 50/50 balls as well. His elite physical traits and ability has earned him p4 offers from Nebraska and Purdue. With a strong camp season he could easily blow up nationally and quickly add to that list.
Highlights
Malone is a talented freshman receiver for the historied Massillon Washington football program. He’s versatile receiver who boasts a long and athletic frame. Deontay is one of those taller receivers who has not only shows good straight-line speed, but strong short space explosiveness. He’s a receiver that I could see playing either slot or outside. Those traits are on full display as he’s used on bubble screens and reverses. With the ball in his hands Deontay exhibits good vision and creative play making ability. He strong hands and the ability to catch the ball away from his frame. Because he’s waiting his turn behind some talented upperclassmen on the varsity team, he’s flying under the radar right now. Rest assured the future is bright for Malone and he could start to get D1 interest as early as this offseason.
Taft has become one of the top talent producing programs in Southwest Ohio. They’ve put out Power 4 defensive prospects like Jay’Quan Bostic, Quinton Price Quinton Price 6’3″ | 170 lbs | DB Taft | 2024 State OH , Tayshawn Banks Tayshawn Banks 6’0″ | 170 lbs | DB Taft | 2024 State OH , and Elias Rudolph Elias Rudolph 6’4″ | 220 lbs | DL Taft | 2024 State OH . Holloway is a young and emerging prospect on the offensive side of the ball at wide receiver. Eddie is a dynamic slot who has the speed to take any reception the distance. He’s explosive off the snap and shows advanced route running ability for his age. He does a good job of setting up defenders on his breaks and making in route adjustments based on the defense. It’s easy to see that Holloway has had the opportunity to sharpen his craft against high level defenders every day in practice in his first year of high school ball. Because of Taft’s skill talent he was the team’s third receiving option. That being said he still produced a stunning 30+ yards a catch and 4 touchdowns on the season. Those numbers will only grow as Holloway moves up in the Senators offense. I’d expect that Eddie will burst out onto the D1 recruiting scene this offseason.
I usually try to stay away from family dynamics and the recruitment of high school football players because regardless of where a players siblings or parents played, I like giving each player an opportunity to blaze their own paths. Sometimes however it’s simply unavoidable. This is the case with Trey Haddad Trey Haddad 6’0″ | 160 lbs | WR Saint Ignatius | 2027 State OH . Trey’s dad, Drew, played at Buffalo and then played several years in both the NFL and also NFL Europe. His Grandfather was a first round pick in the NFL draft and he had an uncle who played at Purdue and an uncle who played in the NFL coming from both sides of his parents families. His older brother Cody is a 2025 who’s committed to play at Wisconsin. His oldest brother is a wide receiver at D3 football power John Carroll University. So to say the Haddad’s are a “football family” would be the understatement of all understatements.
Trey is a long and athletic receiver who already look of a polished route runner. A lot of time with younger receivers they survive on simply being the better athlete and sometimes their skill and technique can lag a little behind. The is not the case with Haddad. He shows good footwork on his releases. He does a great job of using tempo to set up the defender going into his breaks, and then has the explosiveness to create separation in and out of his breaks. With the ball in his hands he’s a sudden runner who shows solid change of direction skills and the ability to make yards after the catch. At Ignatius he will have the opportunity to put his skills on display against some of the best teams Ohio has to offer. Family success aside, Trey has a fantastic opportunity to make forge his own path. This offseason he’ll have the opportunity to jump onto the D1 recruiting scene.
David is a talented slot receiver from Cincinnati Country day. He’s coming off a freshman season where he really progressed and earned playing time and a role as a part of the Nighthawks offense. Fields lined up as a slot receiver. Seeing his film and seeing him run routes in person the first thing you notice is his explosiveness. He’s able to create easy separation versus defenders due to his ability to stop a dime and his explosive change of direction traits. David is a fluid hands catcher who can make plays with the ball after the catch. The athleticism and skill talent is there, Fields just needs to continue to add good weight and get stronger. If he can do that the future is bright.

The first thing you notice with Black is his frame. The look test is real, and Jerry passes it with flying colors. While he could easily end up on the defensive side of the ball at the next level, for now we’ll leave him as a big receiver who will probably grow into a hybrid tight end. Black’s combination of size and athleticism is impressive. He has good footwork off the line of scrimmage, and he has the bend and explosiveness to create separation. He already has the strength and build to physically overwhelm defensive backs and will be speed and athleticism mismatch for bigger backs or linebackers. Black just needs to continue to work on developing his route running ability as he continues to grow and fill out. While Jerry is still on the raw size I’m very bullish on his future based on the top end physical traits he owns. I could very easily see his recruiting process take off this offseason.
