Deontae Malone is one of the most talented prospects in the buckeye State when it comes to the skill positions. The 6-foot-0, 175-pound prospect is elite after the catch, running through contact and staying on his feet and finishing forward on contact. Undoubtedly his post-catch vision and balance are his strongest qualities. He can get around opposing corners easily in space. Good burst off the LOS.

Malone is an up-and-coming wide receiver for defending state champion Massillon Tigers. He possesses all of the traits you look for in a topflight receiver. At the current time, I project him to the slot position at the next level, but if he keeps growing, I could easily see him play outside as well. Deonte has explosive lateral movement ability as well as the speed to take it to the house. When he gets the ball in the open field, he’s a problem. In a program such as Massillon sometimes players have to wait for their turn, I can’t wait to see Malone‘s number called. The future is bright!

Malone is a talented freshman receiver for the historied Massillon Washington football program. He’s versatile receiver who boasts a long and athletic frame. Deontay is one of those taller receivers who has not only shows good straight-line speed, but strong short space explosiveness. He’s a receiver that I could see playing either slot or outside. Those traits are on full display as he’s used on bubble screens and reverses. With the ball in his hands Deontay exhibits good vision and creative play making ability. He strong hands and the ability to catch the ball away from his frame. Because he’s waiting his turn behind some talented upperclassmen on the varsity team, he’s flying under the radar right now. Rest assured the future is bright for Malone and he could start to get D1 interest as early as this offseason.
