Jamier Brown has had an eventful offseason. After changing the trajectory of high school football in Ohio and successfully pushing for athletes to receive NIL, he transferred to Big Walnut High School and instantly became the top prospect in the Columbus area. Brown is highly-skilled in every facet of the position: he has elite speed, route running ability, the height and size with lengthy arms and a wide catch radius, and the soft hands to be a legit blue-chip prospect. Committed to the Buckeyes, Brown is also an exceptional kick returner with the speed, burst and top-end juice to go the distance with the ball in his hands.

Jamier Brown will go down as one of the most consequential high school football players in Ohio high school football history with his successful attempt to secure NIL for Ohio players. Off the field, he is a winner, but he is an even bigger winner on the field. Brown is a dynamic threat with the ball in his hands, a pure technician as a route runner, has great top-end speed and is electrifying after the catch. His ceiling is only getting higher with a year remaining in high school.

The Ohio State commit finished with 3 catches for 46 yards. Though it wasn’t a huge day on offense it didn’t mean that he didn’t find his way to make his mark on the game. Jamier had 125 yards on 2 kickoff returns which included a 97-yard return for a touchdown. His elite speed was on full display on the kickoff return. The way he can flip his hips and be explosive in his route running is also different. It’s very easy to see why Brown is one of the top wide receivers in the country.

Brown is the total package, an excellent combination of size and speed. Along with great top-end juice and excellent route running ability to create separation, what stands out the most about Brown is the most important aspect of being a receiver: his hands. He can extend for the ball and make hard catches look easy, adjusting high and low and making phenomenal catches with his wide catch radius and arm length.

He may have only risen one spot in our rankings, but our state has a new number one player. Jamier is a great route runner and explodes out of his releases and cuts. He is a great athlete and can make defenders miss easily. He is versatile and can play from any receiver spot. His play from his sophomore season raised him to our top spot, but with a remarkable 2027 class in our state, Jamier will have heavy competition for that top spot.

I’ve seen Brown in-person multiple times, and the 6-foot-1 receiver really pops. His 24 offers that he has received are definitely deserved. Brown is a great route runner with strong ball skills. His change-of-direction, vision, and speed after the catch are exceptional.

Jamier was a big time play maker for the Wayne Warriors as a freshman. The young speedster checks in as our #1 wide receiver and #2 overall player in the 2027 class. Averette-Brown is not just one of the fastest football players in the country, he’s one of the fastest freshman in the country period. Jamier took first place in 60M at the Addidas indoor nationals and has set the freshman record in the event. So, to say his speed is elite would be an understatement. That speed translates to the football field as you see him consistently run by defenders as he stretches the field vertically. As all young receivers Averette-Brown is still expanding his route running tree. The physical traits are there to do so. Not only does Brown possess the straight-line speed, he has the explosives and athleticism to make strong breaks and create quick separation on short and intermediate routes. Jamier or “Showtime” as he’s nicknamed, has the ability to go get it on 50/50 balls as well. His elite physical traits and ability has earned him p4 offers from Nebraska and Purdue. With a strong camp season he could easily blow up nationally and quickly add to that list.
