These players took their game to another level during the semifinals and helped punch their teams into the title game, establishing themselves as top tier playmakers.
rnAt the top of my list of notable performers is Willie Rodriguez Willie Rodriguez 6’4″ | 235 lbs | TE Covington Catholic | 2024 State KY , a tight end at Covington Catholic High School. Rodriguez and the Colonels are coming off a 22-14 victory over Paducah Tilghman last week to set up a matchup with Boyle County in the championship game. I like Rodriguez due to his speed and ability to quickly get open for passes. Rodriguez also impresses with his ability to consistently dodge and weave the defense after the catch to muscle his way into the backfield. Rodriguez also stands out with his ability to block the defense and create space for the rush.

rnI am additionally impressed with JT Haskins JT Haskins 6’0″ | 160 lbs | ATH Bryan Station | 2024 State KY , an athlete at Bryan Station High School. Haskins and the Defenders outlasted Ballard 24-21 this past week to set up a matchup with Trinity in the championship game. What impresses me the most about Haskins is his athleticism and playmaking ability on both sides, proving he seperate himself from the defense down the stretch and read the offense like a book. I also like how Haskins can disrupt passing and haul in interceptions.

rnClaiming the number three spot on my list is Demauriah Brown Demauriah Brown 5’11” | 170 lbs | ATH Boyle County | 2025 State KY , a running back at Boyle County High School. Brown and the Rebels earned a 41-14 win over Franklin County last week to set up a contest with Covington Catholic in the title game. Brown stands out with his ability to beat the defense with his footwork and breakaway speed both in the pocket and along the edge, showcasing his ability to take it all the way to the house. I also like Brown’s durability and ability to find openings in the pocket to slip into the backfield.

rnAnother skilled prospect to watch for is Trevy Barber Trevy Barber 5’9″ | 155 lbs | WR Bowling Green | 2026 State KY , a wide receiver at Bowling Green High School. Barber and the Purples are coming off a 38-8 win over Owensboro last week to set up a matchup with Cooper in the title game. What makes Barber so explosive is his ability to stay on his feet under pressure and break tackles. I also like how Barber can haul in challenging passes in the backfield, proving his catching ability and physicality in coverage.

rnComing in at number five on my list is Fisher Brinegar Fisher Brinegar 6’5″ | 280 lbs | OL Moody | 2027 AL , an offensive lineman at Mayfield High School. Brinegar and the Cardinals collected a 31-28 win over Beechwood to secure a spot in the championship game against Owensboro Catholic. Brinegar stands out with his quick execution off the snap and ability to exert his strength to stun the defense and prolong the offense’s time of possession. Brinegar also impresses me with his ability to absorb pressure and create disorganization in the pocket to open up the field for the rush.

rnAlso worth mentioning is Zane Johnson, a quarterback at Trinity High School. Johnson and the Shamrocks punched their way into the title game against Bryan Station with a 14-7 overtime win over Frederick Douglass this past week. Johnson stands out under center due to his composure and assortment of ways to advance the offense into enemy territory. Johnson’s speed on the ground as well as his ability to hit his receivers in stride in the endzone has made a considerable difference throughout the playoffs, proving his multi-faceted playstyle.
