Continue ReadingAs we get deeper into the 2024 high school football off-season, another round of rankings updates have started to come out for the state of Kentucky. In the rankings update for the class of 2025, there was a lot of movement in a very talent-rich class. With that being said, I wanted to take a look at some of the risers in the class that caught my attention after looking back at the rankings update. After covering the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, here are some notable stock risers in the class of 2025 in the state of Kentucky that make an impact at multiple positions.
Trey Cotton Trey Cotton 6’1″ | 180 lbs | ATH Chrisitian Academy of Louisville | 2025 State KY is a player that has been on our radar for a while now and continued to stand out this past season. On defense, Cotton lines up at safety where he is very reliable in pass coverage. He does a great job of reading the quarterback and breaking on the ball with perfect timing to make a play. Cotton finished this past season with one interception and multiple pass breakups in eight games. He has also shown the ability to fill the lane to stop the run, finishing this past season with 42 tackles and three tackles for loss. Trey also played a key role on offense this past season, catching 15 passes for 226 yards and a touchdown. Cotton currently holds offers from Eastern Kentucky, Lindenwood, Austin Peay, Southeast Missouri State, Eastern Illinois, and UT Martin, and I expect more to come his way as he is a Division I caliber prospect.
Kemonte Braxton Kemonte Braxton 5’9″ | 150 lbs | ATH Sayre | 2025 State KY is a player that jumped into our rankings following a strong junior year. On defense, Braxton lines up at corner where he is very impressive in man coverage. He does a great job of opening up with receivers to mirror their routes. When the ball is thrown his way, Braxton breaks on the ball with perfect timing to make a play. He finished this past season with 11 pass breakups and two interceptions in 13 games. Braxton also finished the year with 38 tackles and returned one kickoff for a touchdown. He also played a role on offense at receiver, catching 17 passes for 225 yards and four touchdowns. Kemonte doesn’t currently hold any offers but he has received some college interest and has the talent to play at the next level.
Chris Wilson Chris Wilson 5’8″ | 160 lbs | ATH Trinity | 2025 State KY is another new addition to our rankings. He is a dynamic player on offense, showing the ability to make plays out of the backfield and in the slot. At receiver, he does a great job of using his speed and quick breaks in his routes to create separation. He finished this past season with 13 catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns in 11 games. Wilson also ran the ball 25 times for 180 yards and showed some reliability on special teams a returner. Chris doesn’t currently hold any offers but should be a player to keep an eye on going into his senior year.
My final stock rising ATH in the class of 2025 in the state of Kentucky is TJ Cothron TJ Cothron 6’0″ | 195 lbs | ATH Fern Creek | 2025 State KY . On defense, Cothron lines up at outside linebacker where he is very impressive against the run. He does a great job of reading his keys and getting to the ball carrier in a hurry to make the tackle. TJ finished this past season with 53 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss in 12 games. He also caught 22 passes for 298 yards and four touchdowns, scored one rushing touchdown, and returned one kickoff for a touchdown. TJ doesn’t currently hold any offers but I could see some coming his way soon as he has received some college interest and has the talent to play at the next level.
