They also hosted the defending New York Catholic state champions within St Anthony’s. It’s another year where the Friars have a ton of talent on their roster. Checkout who the top performers were from St Anthony’s during the 7v7’s.
There’s a reason why he’s the top tight end in New York. Menghi is a star and during a stretch of these 7v7’s he found himself consistently wide open and was able to make plays for his team. Last year his blocking was what impressed me the most, he was a hard nosed tight end getting it done in all aspects of the game. But now with those senior graduating and with how he’s been performing this summer, his receiving numbers will be boosted tremendously. He will be a matchup nightmare for every team in the catholic league. He has also displayed leadership qualities during the 7v7. Now going into his senior year, Menghi and Korey Duff will be the leaders of this offense.

This summer has been the KJ Duff show when it comes to a national scale. He dominated at OT7, which featured some of the best high school football players in the country. After putting on a clinic during the 7v7 circuit, Duff returned with his high school team and showed why he’s one of the nations best players. Against Sayville, there was a stretch of 4 plays where it was “Duff Time”. He had 3 amazing catches including a deep pass where he did what he does best, he caught a 50/50 ball over a defender for a touchdown. Anything that was in his direction, he came down with it. Duff simply showed that he was on another level than the rest of the field.

Another Friar that has been very good all summer long. The development he’s shown from the beginning of his sophomore year to where he is now is phenomenal. Nash’s decision making and accuracy was what jumped out to me. He was able to make difficult throws out to the sideline and he placed it where only his big receivers (Korey Duff and Alex Menghi Alex Menghi 6’4″ | 215 lbs | TE St. Anthony’s | 2024 State NY ) were able to get it. He had good timing with his receivers and he was in complete control of this offense. Nash has the tools to lead the Friars to another successful season in the state’s toughest league.

The Friars secondary lost a ton of seniors this past season and now they’ll need younger guys like Kevin Moore Kevin Moore 6’1″ | 185 lbs | ATH St. Anthony’s | 2026 NY to step up. Moore is one of the best pure athletes I’ve seen at St Anthony’s the past 6 years. He started on the varsity basketball team as a freshman which is extremely rare at St Anthony’s and now its his turn to do it on the gridiron. At 6’1 he’s long and very athletic. The Friars have been known as DBU the past 5 or 6 years and Moore is next up on that list. He’s got the size, speed and ball skills to be a terrific safety. Watching him gave me flashbacks from when I saw Ian Strong during his sophomore year. He’ll be working and getting developed by Friars DB Coach Will Platt who’s one of the best DB coaches on Long Island
Last year St Anthony’s had the best wide receiver room in New York and they were loaded with senior talent. Now that all of those seniors have graduated we see who’s up next and it looks like Braden Mehm Braden Mehm 6’0″ | 190 lbs | WR St. Anthony’s | 2024 State NY is going to be in for a big year. The talented receiver has made his presence felt at a Prep Redzone showcase earlier in the year and the Downstate Classic. At the 7v7, he had a bunch of catches. He started off the first 7 on 7 with a long touchdown, burning his defender downfield with his north-south speed. Mehm ended up being one of the most reliable receivers making some difficult catches and creating separation all night long.

The 2026 quarterback out of St Anthony’s has a bright future for the Friars and if they definitely elect to move him up to varsity as a sophomore, we’ll have a QB battle on our hands. Robinson has a fantastic arm and he’s a great athlete. The upside is enormous for him and he made smart throws during these 7v7’s being able to zip the ball to his receivers in the right spot. He’s still a very young quarterback and will need to put on weight to be ready for the size and physicality of the NYCHSFL AAA division, but his potential is something to track for the next three years.
