With that being said, I have been releasing my 2022 Regular Season All-State teams for each class. After covering 1-4A, I will now turn my attention to the top players in 5A from the regular season. With that being said, here is my 2022 5A Regular Season All-State offense.
Jacob Jones Jacob Jones 6’2″ | 200 lbs | QB West Jessamine | 2023 State KY is a player that I’ve had high on my radar for a while now as he is our top ranked quarterback prospect in the class of 2023 in Kentucky. Jones lived up to the hype in his final regular season, completing 141/226 passes for 2,080 yards, 22 touchdowns, and five interceptions. The big thing that sticks out with him as a passer is his incredible arm strength. He uses it to stretch the field in the deep passing game and fit passes into tight windows in the short/intermediate passing game. Jones also puts great touch on his passes, putting the ball where only his receiver can get to it. He also finished the regular season as one of the top rushers in the state, running the ball 183 times for 1,697 yards and 25 touchdowns. Jones is very dangerous as a ball carrier once he hits the open field. He has the speed to run away from the defense, elusiveness to make defenders miss, and strength to run straight through defenders. Jacob currently holds offers from Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, Fairmont State, and Pikeville, and I could see more coming his way as he is a true Division I caliber talent.
Highlights
The competition for the top quarterback in 5A was so close that I decided to add a second one. Brysen Dugger Brysen Dugger 6’2″ | 185 lbs | QB Pulaski County | 2023 State KY had an incredible senior regular season for Pulaski County, completing 169/240 passes for 2,626 yards, 33 touchdowns, and only three interceptions. He has a strong arm with the ability to lead his receivers down the field and hit them in stride in the deep passing game. Dugger also has shown good ball placement with the ability to put his passes where only his receivers can get to them. He also has shown the ability to tuck the ball and pick up yards on the ground when needed, finishing the regular season with 51 carries for 223 yards and six touchdowns. Brysen currently holds an offer from Cumberlands (KY) but he deserves more attention as he is a very gifted quarterback
Kenyata Carbon Kenyata Carbon 6’0″ | 180 lbs | RB Owensboro | 2023 State KY is another player that has been high on my radar for a while now and continued to impress this year. Carbon finished his final regular season with 125 carries for 1,178 yards and 21 touchdowns. He is an electric ball carrier once he hits the open field. Carbon has the speed to run away from the defense but is also very shifty with the ability to make defenders miss. He also has shown the ability to catch passes out of the backfield, catching 14 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown this season. Kenyata doesn’t have any reported offers but should be on the radar of college coaches as he has the talent to thrive at the next level.
Another running back that I’ve had on my radar for a while is Tanner Wright Tanner Wright 5’10” | 190 lbs | RB Southwestern | 2023 State KY from Southwestern. He finished with a strong final regular season, carrying the ball 126 times for 1,193 yards and 18 touchdowns. Wright has very good vision, showing the ability to find the running lane and hit it quickly. Once he hits the open field, Wright has the elusiveness to make defenders miss and contact balance to bounce off defenders without breaking stride. He also has the pure speed to run away from the defense. Wright also caught six passes for 79 yards and a touchdown this season. Tanner doesn’t currently hold any official offers but he has received a ton of college interest and definitely has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.
Chandler Godby Chandler Godby 5’9″ | 170 lbs | WR Pulaski County | 2023 State KY has been one of the most impressive players in the entire state this season. He had an outstanding senior regular season, finishing with 74 receptions for 1,376 yards, and 23 touchdowns. Godby has impressive speed, using it to run right by defensive backs in the deep passing game. He is also a smooth route runner with the ability to create separation in his breaks. After the catch, Godby uses his speed and elusiveness in the open field to turn short passes and screens into big gains. He has also proven to be a dangerous returner on special teams, returning a kickoff for a touchdown in the regular season. Godby also played a key role on defense but I like him best on offense with the ball in his hands. Chandler currently holds offers from Union, Lindsey Wilson, Cumberlands (KY), and Montana Tech, and I can see him being a key play maker on offense for any of those programs.

Another senior receiver that stood out to me this season is Dalton Carter Dalton Carter 6’0″ | 180 lbs | WR West Jessamine | 2023 State KY from West Jessamine. Carter was the go-to receiver for the Colts this year, finishing the regular season with 70 receptions for 1,144 yards and nine touchdowns. He has incredible deep speed, running right by defensive backs to create separation. Carter is also a very impressive route runner out of the slot, using his quick release to create early separation. He has also shown the ability to use his speed and elusiveness after the catch to turn short passes into big gains. Dalton doesn’t currently hold any offers but has received some college interest and has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.
Charlie Noon Charlie Noon 6’2″ | 180 lbs | ATH Highlands | 2023 State KY was one of the most exciting players to watch in the state of Kentucky this season. The senior wide receiver played a key role in Highlands’ offense, finishing the regular season with 35 receptions for 697 yards and eight touchdowns. Noon has elite deep speed, running right by defensive backs to create separation. He also has shown smooth breaks in his routes to create separation in the short/intermediate passing game. Noon is electric after the catch, using his speed and elusiveness to turn short passes and screens into big plays. He also showed promise out of the backfield as a ball carrier, running the ball 34 times for 226 yards. Noon also showed that he is a dangerous returner on special teams, returning one kickoff and one punt for a touchdown this season. Charlie currently holds offers from Thomas More and Mount Saint Joseph (OH) along with a Preferred Walk On offer from Louisville, and I expect him to be a very electric play maker wherever he ends up playing at the next level.
Thomas Howard Thomas Howard 6’3″ | 215 lbs | TE Frederick Douglass | 2023 State KY is our top ranked tight end in the class of 2023 in Kentucky and he continued to impress this season. Howard’s reps were limited due to starters being pulled early in a lot of games this season but he still finished his final regular season with 11 receptions for 129 yards and a touchdown. In the passing game, Howard has the speed to attack the seam in the deep passing game and has very reliable hands. He also has shown the ability to run routes like a receiver. After the catch, Howard has the speed to get up the field to pick up extra yards and uses his strength to break tackles. I also really like his ability as a blocker in the run game. Howard has been used as a lead blocker in the run game and he does a great job of picking up blocks in open space and driving his man out of the picture. While he has already signed to play baseball at Louisville, Howard definitely could’ve played football at the Power 5 level if he had chosen to go that route.
Another Bronco that stood out to me this season is offensive lineman, Demeco Kennedy Demeco Kennedy 6’3″ | 270 lbs | DL Frederick Douglass | 2024 State KY . Demeco has had some experience at guard but lined up at left tackle this season and had a very good junior year. Kennedy is a dominant run blocker that explodes out of his stance and drives his man down the field. He is a very physical finisher, driving his man through the whistle, resulting in several pancake blocks. Kennedy also has shown the ability to get to the second level and pick up blocks in open space. In pass protection, Kennedy has very good footwork and does a great job of protecting his inside gap. Demeco currently holds offers from Ole Miss, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami (OH), Ball State, Southeast Missouri State, Marshall, Western Michigan, Toledo, and Illinois, asked I expect that list to continue to grow as he is a try Power 5 caliber talent that could play on either side of the ball at the next level as he also had a great year on defense.
Austin Anderson Austin Anderson 6’4″ | 290 lbs | OL Bowling Green | 2023 State KY is an offensive lineman that I’ve been very high on this season. He has been a key part of Bowling Green’s success this year. Anderson lines up at guard but has played every position on the offensive line. He is an aggressive run blocker that creates movement off the line of scrimmage. Anderson has also shown the ability to pull and serve as a lead blocker as he does a great job of picking up blocks in the open field. In pass protection, Anderson has great footwork and has shown the ability to mirror defensive linemen effectively and pick up any stunts or blitzes. Austin is committed to Liberty where I see him developing into a key piece of their offensive line.
Another senior offensive lineman that impressed me this season is Tristan Cook Tristan Cook 6’5″ | 300 lbs | OL Woodford County | 2023 State KY from Woodford County. Cook played right guard and was a very dominant run blocker this yea. He has an explosive first step and has a physical initial punch. Once he gets in that initial punch, he keeps his feet running through contact to drive his man down the field. Cook also does a great job of getting to the second level and picking up blocks in the open field when asked to do so. In pass protection, Cook has a good quick set and does a great job of keeping his head on a swivel to find work. Tristan is committed to Ball State where I see him carving out a key role on their offensive line
Highlights
Jak Lindsey Jak Lindsey 6’5″ | 280 lbs | OL Owensboro | 2024 State KY is another offensive lineman that I’ve had high on my radar for a while. The junior left tackle continued to impress this season as he was a key piece of Owensboro’s success on offense. He is a very physical run blocker that knocks defensive linemen back with his strong initial punch. Lindsey also does a great job of driving his feet to create movement off the line of scrimmage. He also does a good job of getting to the second level and destroying anything in his path in the open field. In pass protection, Lindsey has good footwork and keeps a strong base, not allowing for much penetration into the pocket. Jak currently holds offers from Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, Central Michigan, Indiana, and Miami (OH), and I see that list continuing to grow as he is a true Division I talent
My final offensive lineman on this team is senior Braiden Myers Braiden Myers 6’5″ | 290 lbs | OL Southwestern | 2023 State KY from Southwestern. Myers lines up at left tackle and is a mauler in the run game. He has an explosive first step out of his stance and keeps his feet running through contact to create movement off the line of scrimmage. Myers also does a great job of getting out in front of the ball carrier in the open field and destroying anything in his path. He is also very reliable in pass protection as he does a great job mirroring pass rushers off the edge. Even if Myers falls behind, he keeps working to make sure he drives his man away from the quarterback. Braiden currently holds offers from Austin Peay and Cumberlands (KY), and I wouldn’t be surprised to see more come his way as he has received a ton of college interest and has the talent to find success at the next level.
Highlights
I had to add an “Athlete” slot to my 5A offense as Kenyon Goodin Kenyon Goodin 6’3″ | 185 lbs | ATH Martha Layne Collins | 2023 State KY was one of the most exciting and productive players in the state this season. Kenyon played quarterback for Collins but did a little bit of everything this season. He finished his final regular season completing 123/226 passes for 1,725 yards, 22 touchdowns, and three interceptions. Goodin also ran the ball 179 times for 1,137 yards and 15 touchdowns. As a passer, Goodin has a strong arm with the ability to lead his receivers down the field and hit them in stride. He also has very good pocket mobility, showing the ability to move in the pocket to avoid pressure and also escape the pocket while keeping his eyes down the field to make throws on the run. In the running game, Goodin was very dangerous on designed quarterback runs. He has the speed to run straight through the defense without being touched. Goodin also has the elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field and the contact balance to break tackles without breaking stride. Kenyon also played a key role at safety on defense, finishing second on the team in tackles and coming away with four interceptions but I still like what I’ve seen from him the most on offense with the ball in his hands. Goodin currently holds offers from Eastern Kentucky, Charleston, and Army, and I fully expect him to continue to be an electric play maker wherever he decides to play at the next level.
