Our top ranked quarterback in the class of 2023 put on a nice show on Friday, completing 12/16 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown.  Jones puts a strong amount of zip on his passes showing the ability to fit passes into tight windows where only his receivers can catch it. He also throws an impressive deep ball, showing the ability to lead his receivers down the field and hit them in stride on their way to the end zone. While he was solid as a passer, Jones did most of Friday’s damage on the ground, running the ball 16 times for 214 yards and six touchdowns, Jones is used frequently in read option and quarterback draw situations and he is able to use his speed to run right by the defense for big gains. He has also shown the elusiveness to make defenders miss and strength to run straight through them as a ball carrier. Jones has been impressive as a passer this season, sitting at eighth in the state in passing, completing 115/188 passes for 1,760 yards, 20 touchdowns, and only three interceptions through eight games. While those are great numbers, he has been just as electric as a ball carrier, ranking second in the entire state in rushing with 157 carries for 1,405 yards and 18 touchdowns. As a passer, Jones throws an incredible deep ball with the arm strength to lead his receivers down the field and hit them in stride. He also puts a good amount of zip on his passes with the ability to fit the ball in tight windows and also has shown a tremendous ability to make throws on the run. In the ground game, Jones has the speed to simply run away from the defense but also has the elusiveness to make defenders miss and strength to run right through them. Jacob currently holds offers from Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, Fairmont State, and Pikeville, but has been receiving more interest from college coaches so more could come as he is a true Division I caliber talent.

The standout senior quarterback had yet another incredible performance this past Friday against East Jessamine, completing 14/19 passes for 320 yards and five touchdowns while also running the ball 14 times for 210 yards and three scores. As a passer, Jones showed off a very strong arm with the ability to lead his receivers down the field. He also showed great ball placement, putting the ball where only his receiver could get to it. In the running game, Jones was very dangerous in the read option with the ability to break tackles and make defenders miss while also showing the speed to run away from the defense. Jones currently holds offers from Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, Fairmont State, and Pikeville, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see more Division I offers come as he has the potential to be a star at the next level.

Jones had a huge performance against Ashland Blazer, throwing for 352 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 287 yards and seven touchdowns. As a passer, he showed great mechanics in his quick release. He also showed impressive accuracy all over the field, putting the ball where only his receiver could get to it. Jones was equally impressive as a ball carrier, showing the speed to run away from the defense and elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field. He also showed that he has the strength as a ball carrier to run through tackles without breaking stride. Jones currently holds offers from Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, Fairmont State, and Pikeville, and I believe more Division I offers should come his way as he is a very special talent.

He continued to impress on Friday, leading West Jessamine to a 43-36 victory over Bourbon County. Jones completed 11/18 passes for 185 yards and five touchdowns. He showed off an impressive arm on his deep balls, leading his receivers down the field and also showed a good quick release in RPO situations. While he played a strong game as a passer, he was even more impressive as a ball carrier, rushing 21 times for 342 yards and a touchdown. Jones was able to show off his elite speed and elusiveness in the open field as he was used on designed quarterback draws and also showed the ability to tuck the ball and run when things broke down in the passing game. He currently holds an offer from Kentucky but more offers should come as Jones is a very special, Power 5 level talent.
