October is here and we have begun updating all of our prospect rankings throughout the website. Last week, we released our first watch list for the 2026 class. The first rankings for that class will come out in January. This week, it’s all about the 2025 class. We’ve updated those rankings to feature the top 75 sophomores in the state. You can check out the full rankings RIGHT HERE. In this post, we’re taking a look at some of the bigger stock risers in this recent update. These players made significant jumps in their ranking from June to now. Stay tuned throughout the week for more 2025 prospect breakdowns. And keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma throughout the month for the 2024 and 2023 prospect rankings.
Went From #46 Overall To #33 Overall rnThis prospect is fresh on our mind after catching him in person on Friday night as Carl Albert took down Bishop McGuinness in one of the better games we’ve seen this season. Sophomore defensive standout Caden Davis Caden Davis 6’0″ | LB Carl Albert | 2025 State OK had an excellent game and combining that with what we’ve also seen on film, we think that Davis could be one of the better and consistent prospects on the defensive side of the ball. A big question moving forward will be what his natural position is at the next level. He’s listed as a defensive lineman right now but we could very well see him moving to middle linebacker or inside linebacker in a 3-4 look at the next level. But for now, we’ll keep him along the defensive line because he’s been absolutely dominant. As far as the prospects on this list go, Davis was the highest stock riser that just plays on the defensive side of the ball. He moved up 13 spots in the recent ranking update.
Went From #50 Overall To #4 Overall rnWe’ll do the math for you here. Weatherford standout CJ Nickson CJ Nickson 6’6″ | ATH Weatherford | 2025 State OK jumped up 46 spots in the recent ranking update. And there’s a good reason for that. We screwed up. He never should have been that low. Nickson might be more known as a basketball prospect but the more his football tape makes the rounds with college coaches, the more his recruitment is going to absolutely blow up. Nickson now has the distinction of being a top five prospect in basketball and in football. But the way things are going, and the production that he’s had on the football field, Nickson is going to be a major football recruit moving forward. He is scary coming off the edge for Weatherford and he’s only going to get better from here. It looks like his natural fit will be on defense but he’s made plenty of plays on offense. Coincidentally, he’s not the only prospect that is now considered one of the best prospects in basketball and in football on this stock riser post.
Went From #31 Overall To #20 Overall rnOver the next two and a half years, there’s going to be a lot of talk about the 2025 quarterback class. The group consists of David McComb David McComb 6’3″ | 215 lbs | QB Edmond Memorial | 2025 State OK , Jamarian Ficklin Jamarian Ficklin 6’1″ | 180 lbs | QB Muskogee | 2025 State OK , Shaker Reisig Shaker Reisig 6’0″ | 185 lbs | QB Union | 2025 State OK and our next prospect here with Deer Creek’s Grady Adamson Grady Adamson 6’1″ | 215 lbs | QB Deer Creek | 2025 State OK . This group has already established themselves as the best of the quarterback position and are some of the top overall prospects in the class. We weren’t sure what to think of Adamson coming into this season. He was replacing an experienced QB in Brett Pense that led the Antlers to the title game. But according to Deer Creek coaches, Adamson immediately won over the locker room and has become a leader at an early age. It also helps that he’s been one of the more efficient quarterbacks in the state so far this season. Adamson is definitely going to be a name to watch as he has Deer Creek in the state title picture this season. He jumped into the Top 20 in the latest update.
Highlights
Went From #15 Overall To #3 Overall rnThe other prospect that now finds himself in the top five for basketball and football is Millwood wide receiver and defensive back Jaden Nickens Jaden Nickens 6’4″ | WR Douglass | 2025 State OK . The Millwood standout has had a very interesting eight months. He helped lead the Falcons to a state championship in basketball. And he already had D1 offers for hoops before his freshman season even began. Then he joined the football team and after just a few practices in May, he earned D1 offers in football, without ever playing a single game. And earlier this week, Nickens was invited to play in the Under Armour All American game and is already considered a national prospect. He hasn’t even played a full season. But there’s no doubt when you watch him that the talent is there. And like Nickson at Weatherford, there’s still a lot of room for growth for the Millwood product. The one game we caught in person earlier this year, it was obvious he was the best athlete on the field.
Went From #44 Overall To #31 Overall rnWhenever we do rankings, and this is with any class, without a doubt the hardest position to evaluate and rank is kicker. And that’s been something we’ve had to do because Oklahoma has produced some really good kicking prospects over the last few years. Another example of that is Edmond Memorial’s Ty Ackerman Ty Ackerman 5’11” | K Edmond Memorial | 2025 State OK . Typically what we’ve found, if you’re the absolute best kicker in your class, and there’s a good chance that Ackerman is, you can range anywhere in the 30’s. Because it’s so hard to compare a kicker as a prospect to the third or fourth best quarterback or any other position. But for Ackerman, he makes the jump up to 31 in the recent ranking and there is definitely a lot of talent there. Evaluating kickers also becomes tough because there just aren’t enough of them across the state that realistically have a shot to play D1 college football. It’s still early, but Ackerman could have a shot.
