He played for Sooner 7’s Alpha team and immediately made his presence felt on both sides of the ball. First off, offensively, we don’t need to see his abilities on offense to you if you’ve seen him play. He is a terrific wide receiver and he made it look easy at times during pool play on Saturday. But Nickens wasn’t done there. He turned around and played safety on defense and showcased that athleticism throughout the weekend. He was one of the top players at our tournament two weeks ago in Broken Arrow and he was that again this weekend.

One of the state’s more electric wide receivers will be suiting up for YAYO’s 18U team this weekend. As long as the Trojan basketball team takes care of business Friday night, the Oklahoma commit should be playing Saturday and Sunday. Nickens is one of the state’s best athletes. He started his high school career as one of the state’s best basketball prospects. Now, he’s committed to OU for football and became of the state’s best in football within six months of joining the football team.

In fact, now that Nickens is at Douglass, these two could be on a crash course for each other on the hardwood in March. But just like with Nickson, you can make the argument that the ceiling is much higher for Nickens on the football field moving forward. After joining Millwood’s football team prior to his sophomore season, Nickens immediately became one of the state’s more intriguing prospects because of his abilities in both sports. Nickens would commit to Oklahoma prior to his junior season and then helped Millwood back to the state title game. A few weeks after that, he transferred to Douglass and we’re looking forward to seeing him this fall.

Saturday’s match-up between Millwood and Washington features two teams that benefit from having quite a few players that are going to be playing on Saturday and at a very high level. One of those players is junior wide receiver Jaden Nickens Jaden Nickens 6'4" | WR Douglass | 2025 State OK for Millwood. Nickens has a very unique story on his emergence as a prospect on the football field after being a basketball star as a freshman. But Nickens has emerged as one of the top wide receivers in the state and one of the best overall playmakers in the state as well. That was evident last week when Kiefer scored with 12 seconds left but kicked it off to Nickens, who returned it 70 yards for the game-winning touchdown.

We can say a lot of the same things that we said about Roberts right here with fellow junior Jaden Nickens Jaden Nickens 6'4" | WR Douglass | 2025 State OK at the wide receiver position. He’s right there with Roberts as arguably the top overall prospect in the state. He committed to OU earlier this year and is an absolute star when the football is in his hands. The perfect example of that comes in last week’s semifinal round. Kiefer scored with 12 seconds remaining to take the lead but Nickens took the ensuing kickoff all the way back as time expired to send the Falcons back to Edmond. He was special Friday and they hope he’s special again this week.
