The offseason has begun and that means 7v7 tournaments are in full swing. The first major tournament took place in Plano, Texas over this past weekend and Sooner7 was in attendance. With some of the best players in the state all coming together on several teams under the Sooner7 program, it was a great chance to see individuals shine. In this post, we take a look at some of the standouts from the offensive side of the ball. Several of these players not only played but shined on both sides of the ball but it was on offense that they seemed to make the most impact. In case you missed it, check out our quarterback breakdown RIGHT HERE. And stay tuned for our breakdown on the defensive standouts.
Braylen Irvin-Fisher Braylen Irvin-Fisher 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB Union | 2023 State OK – 2023 TE/LB – Union
The first offensive standout is an example of a player who excelled on both sides of the ball throughout the weekend. But Union 2023 tight end and linebacker Braylen Irvin-Fisher Braylen Irvin-Fisher 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB Union | 2023 State OK made just few more plays on offense so he gets the nod here. But honestly, he has a case to be on both sides for the standout portion. Fisher gets the nod on offense because he was incredibly consistent for Sooner7’s blue team throughout the weekend. He developed fantastic chemistry with his primary quarterback Gage Gundy Gage Gundy 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Stillwater | 2023 State OK from Stillwater and those two would link up many times throughout the tournament. Fisher is a player that we’ve seen for three years now and nothing has changed. He’s a legitimate guy at the tight end position and we’re looking forward to seeing him showcase that this fall.
Dalton Person Dalton Person 5'10" | 150 lbs | WR Verdigris | 2023 State OK – 2023 WR – Verdigris
Very similar to Fisher, another player who has been incredibly consistent from the start of his high school career has been Verdigris 2023 wide receiver Dalton Person Dalton Person 5'10" | 150 lbs | WR Verdigris | 2023 State OK . The standout wide receiver picked up right where he left off from last 7v7 season and was Sooner7 white’s best and most consistent target in the passing game. Person had a fantastic weekend and despite not having pads on, defenses got very physical with Person and it did not matter. If the Verdigris junior got his hands on the ball, he was bringing it in for a catch. And in one occasion, he was only able to get one hand on the ball and that would be enough for a Sooner7 score.
Gotta tweet out the play of the day here at the @Championship7v7 event in Plano. How about @Vps_football 2023 WR @Daltonperson20 with the one-handed TD catch for @Sooner7v7?!? Outstanding! #OKPreps pic.twitter.com/ETRIbK0U2L

We said it throughout the offseason last year and we’ll say it again this year. Yes, Person is undersized compared to prototypical wide receivers. And no, it does not matter, because the kid makes play after play.
Jamarian Ficklin Jamarian Ficklin 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Muskogee | 2025 State OK – 2025 ATH – Muskogee
We had to list Muskogee 2025 standout Jamarian Ficklin Jamarian Ficklin 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Muskogee | 2025 State OK as an athlete here because that’s what he was throughout the weekend for Sooner7. In the fall, Ficklin was one of the best freshman quarterbacks in the state and we’ve said it a few times but watch out for the Roughers moving forward with a wealth of young talent like Ficklin and fellow Sooner7 standout Kayden McGee Kayden McGee 6'1" | WR Muskogee | 2024 State OK . But this weekend, Ficklin doubled as a wide receiver and a cornerback on defense. We get it, the 15U team had plenty of talent at the QB position already and Ficklin still had a good weekend, especially as a wide receiver. He was the 15U squad’s big play threat throughout the weekend and showed us that he’s not just a good quarterback prospect but he could be successful at several different positions.
Jax Smith Jax Smith 6'1" | 195 lbs | WR Choctaw | 2023 State OK – 2023 WR – Choctaw
Sooner7’s blue squad made a run to the tournament’s championship game on Sunday and just fell short of the tournament title by 3 points. However, on Saturday, we had the Choctaw connection going strong during pool play. Yellowjacket 2023 wide receiver Jax Smith Jax Smith 6'1" | 195 lbs | WR Choctaw | 2023 State OK linked up with his quarterback Steele Wasel Steele Wasel 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Choctaw | 2023 State OK several times throughout the afternoon on Saturday and he was making some spectacular catches. In addition to Fisher, Smith was incredibly consistent and more importantly reliable throughout the day. When they needed a big catch, Smith was the target plenty of times. He made an outstanding touchdown catch during one of the games on Saturday and in our opinion, this could be just the beginning of an outstanding offseason for Smith.
JuJu Smith JuJu Smith 5'8" | ATH Choctaw | 2025 State OK – 2025 ATH – Choctaw
Our final prospect was another two-way star on the 15U team for Sooner7 as Choctaw standout JuJu Smith JuJu Smith 5'8" | ATH Choctaw | 2025 State OK could not be stopped on both sides of the ball. Better known as “JuJu”, the Choctaw standout was excellent at catching the ball out of the backfield and then doubled as a safety on the defensive side of the ball. We knew of Smith from his freshman season as a running back and he impressed on offense throughout the weekend. But we’d be mistaken if we didn’t mention how well he did at the safety position. Not only was he very skilled on that side but he was also incredibly intelligent and helped his teammates get in the right position. Smith already looks the part and is building momentum coming off that breakout freshman season in the fall for the Yellowjackets.
