Choctaw quarterback and Akron signee Steele Wasel Steele Wasel 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Choctaw | 2023 State OK went wire to wire as the state’s top quarterback for the 2023 class. Even before he took over as QB1 for the Yellowjackets in 2020, Wasel was already considered the state’s top quarterback prospect. He had an outstanding career that included two state championship game appearances and incredibly efficient play from the quarterback position. Wasel also continued his growth as a passer and a quarterback throughout the last three seasons. Wasel might have come up short of the ultimate goal of a state title but he and this Choctaw group set the bar high for years to come.

It wasn’t the best game for Choctaw senior quarterback Steele Wasel Steele Wasel 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Choctaw | 2023 State OK on Friday afternoon as he would throw three interceptions on the afternoon but he also went out swinging, showing all the different skills in his game. Wasel finished 19-33 for 281 yards and two touchdowns on the afternoon. And he was also Choctaw’s leading rusher with 132 yards on ten carries. The combination of Wasel and Ray in the backfield was dominant against Stillwater’s defense. In fact, the Choctaw offense had a lot of success, but turnovers and penalties would end up hurting them. As a team, Wasel would lead the Yellowjackets to well over 500 yards of total offense. Wasel has been one of the best quarterbacks in the state over the last few years and his overall athleticism was on display on Friday.

Leading Choctaw’s efficient and high-scoring offense is three-year starter Steele Wasel Steele Wasel 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Choctaw | 2023 State OK at quarterback. The Akron commit has been one of the best quarterbacks in the state since he led the Yellowjackets to the state championship game two years ago. Now he’s back to finish the job and go out with a state championship. Wasel is incredibly accurate with the ball and he has grown so much as a passer in the last three years. In addition to having outstanding arm talent, Wasel is also a student of the game and spends so much time in the offseason training and studying the quarterback position. This championship features two outstanding quarterbacks and Wasel is looking to show that when it comes to the state’s senior class, there’s a reason he’s been the top dog.

That quarterback that we mentioned with La’Trell Ray La’Trell Ray 5'9" | 165 lbs | RB Choctaw | 2023 State OK is senior Steele Wasel Steele Wasel 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Choctaw | 2023 State OK , a commit to Akron. Wasel has indeed been one of the top quarterbacks and overall prospects in the state’s 2023 class for a while now. Wasel and the Yellowjacket offense are rolling and the Akron commit is coming off a performance that was one of his best of his career. He threw for nearly 450 yards and six touchdowns as they would run away from Sand Springs. With Wasel playing some of his best football right now, he and the Yellowjackets are looking forward to potentially punching their ticket to Edmond in the state championship.

Senior quarterback and Akron commit had one of his best performances of his impressive career. He would throw for nearly 450 yards and six touchdowns on 23-29 passing. Wasel and the Yellowjackets have been very impressive this season but the goal remains very simple. They want to make it back to Edmond and contend for a state championship. Up next is a game with Muskogee in the semifinals.

Choctaw senior quarterback Steele Wasel Steele Wasel 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Choctaw | 2023 State OK has been the top 2023 quarterback in the state since his sophomore season. He’s been one of the top overall quarterbacks in the state since leading the Yellowjackets to the state title game as a sophomore. As he enters his final month as QB1 for the Yellowjackets, he’s hungrier than ever to help lead Choctaw not only back to UCO but this time, lifting the gold ball. Wasel has been incredibly accurate and efficient with the football this season. He has a complete understanding of what the Yellowjackets are trying to do on offense and is playing some of his best football right now. He’s determined to not let the Yellowjackets fall short.

Jumping back in the top ten overall rankings is Choctaw quarterback Steele Wasel Steele Wasel 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Choctaw | 2023 State OK . Since we started ranking the 2023 class, Wasel has been the top quarterback prospect every single time we have a ranking update. And there isn’t much explanation necessary as to why as he’s been the top QB prospect for three seasons now. He just recently eclipsed 100 passing touchdowns for his career and he and the Yellowjackets seem to be on a one way road to the 6A-2 state championship. Physically, Wasel looks the part and an underrated part of his game is his running ability. While he’s known more for his passing, he can also tuck the ball and run. Wasel’s accuracy this season has been off the charts as he’s been one of the more efficient quarterbacks not only 6A-2 but in the state.

rnChoctaw took another step towards locking down the district championship with an impressive win over Putnam City on Friday night. Senior quarterback and Akron commit torched the Pirates with 364 yards and three touchdowns on 13-20 passing. One of those three touchdowns put Wasel over the 100 mark for his career. Wasel has had a great career but he won’t be satisfied without a state championship. Choctaw now turns their attention to a Ponca City team that has won five straight after starting the year 0-4.
