has made up for that lost time throughout the year. Smith has been one of the top defensive prospects in the state’s 2024 class for over a year now and the Yellowjackets will need that impact from him and the rest of the front seven on Friday. They are facing a Stillwater offense that has been rolling and specifically in the run game. Smith and the Choctaw defense will look to set the tone early and make them work for everything.

rounds out the top ten and is yet another athletic defensive lineman that has the ability to tear things up at the next level. Unfortunately, Smith had to miss the first part of his senior season after having an appendectomy back in August. He missed the first few weeks of the season but was able to return towards the end of non-district play. Smith is one of the best athletes in the state when you consider his overall athleticism. We’ve mentioned a few times how Smith first impressed us with his leaping ability on the basketball floor. Smith also turned heads this offseason as a tight end in various 7v7 tournaments. Smith committed to Tulsa earlier this season and should feel right at home. Game-wrecking Choctaw defensive linemen are no strangers to the Tulsa program.

When you look at the state’s 2024 class, there are few prospects that are more athletic and dynamic than Choctaw’s

on both sides of the ball. Smith enjoyed a breakout season last fall as another dynamic pass rusher on the Choctaw defense and the Yellowjackets have had their share over the last few seasons. First, Desean Brown wreaked havoc, then RJ Jackson last year and now Smith is ready to take over. Smith, combined with Bulock behind him at linebacker, is going to be a big problem for opponents this fall. And we also anticipate that Smith will play offense and give the Yellowjackets a huge target and if there is a jump ball situation, Smith is coming down with it.

is a unique talent and is similar to Okoye when you consider players that are that big should not be as explosive as Smith is. We’ve mentioned the story before about how the first time we saw Smith was on the basketball floor during his sophomore year. He looked like the best athlete on the floor because he was the best athlete on the floor. Now, as we look ahead to the 2023 football season, Smith has the ability to be one of the top game-wreckers on the defensive side of the ball. With Choctaw losing a D1 talent at defensive end to graduation, Smith can fill that role and be an All State-caliber player at the position. Smith committed to Oklahoma State this offseason but reopened his recruitment recently. He’s hoping that more programs will start taking notice with a dominant season this fall. And don’t overlook his ability to be a fantastic athlete on the offensive side of the ball as a hybrid tight end.

is very clearly near the top of any list when it comes to athletes within the state’s 2024 class. The Oklahoma State commit showed why throughout the evening on Wednesday why that is. As a defensive end, Smith commanded double teams by opponents, otherwise, he was going to be able to cause havoc throughout the backfield. On offense, Smith is going to give the Choctaw offense a big and athletic target to use within the passing game. He made one play in particular on a batted ball up in the air where he simply out jumped everyone to go get the ball. Smith is going to be a red zone nightmare on offense and a problem for opposing offensive lines when he’s on defense.

is headed to the next level for what he can do on the defensive side of the ball. But this weekend, Smith was one of the absolute best pass catchers throughout the weekend. He became the number one target for Reisig and made catch after catch and did several in spectacular fashion. Smith was used a bit on offense last fall with Choctaw but he will certainly have more of a role within the offense this fall. He is an absolute weapon on offense with his size, leaping ability and incredibly reliable hands. We mentioned how we went over the film that we shot earlier and Smith ended up being one of the prospects with the most clips that we shot. Catch after catch and play after play, the Oklahoma State commit was one of the top playmakers and receivers in attendance in Broken Arrow.

announced his commitment to the Cowboys and Oklahoma State. We’ve known about Smith for a little over a year now and we’ve told the story about he first got on our radar with his play on the basketball court. The raw athleticism that we saw there has translated incredibly well to the football field and Smith was one of the breakout stars of the 2022 season as a defensive end or outside linebacker, whichever way you want to look at it. combined to make up one of the top rushing duos in the state, regardless of classification. Now with Jackson headed to Tulsa, Smith will get his opportunity to be the marquee rush end and Choctaw has had a good run of them over the last few years. In fact, the Choctaw to OSU pipeline has been kind to defensive ends. 2022 defensive end DeSean Brown signed with the Cowboys last year. Smith has firmly established himself as a top prospect in the 2024 class.Access all of Prep Redzone

in person and we were convinced that he had the potential to be a top ten overall prospect. And as we’ve mentioned before, at that time, Smith wasn’t even on the football field. We watched him in a basketball game and based on his size and extreme athleticism, it wasn’t hard to see an elite defensive end or outside linebacker in the right system. Then Smith enjoyed a breakout season with the Yellowjackets in 2022 on the gridiron. He was on the other side of the line from 2023 standout

and the two Yellowjackets made up arguably the best pass-rushing duo in the state, regardless of class. Smith is still starting for Choctaw’s basketball team and he has some talent on the hardwood, but his future is on the gridiron. Smith already has the attention of power five programs and that should only continue this spring.

for nearly a year now. The story is very simple. We saw Smith on a basketball being an absolute freak of an athlete and saw the raw athleticism that can translate to the football field. Fast forward to this week and Smith has been a very important part to what the Yellowjackets do. They don’t get cute with how they use Smith and his freaky athleticism. They use him on offense, they use him on defense and the sky is the limit for Smith as a prospect. As he continues to grow into his role with the team, Smith could truly emerge as one of the top defensive athletes in the state’s 2024 class. Don’t overlook what he can do on offense as well where his blocking and physicality have been off the charts.
