Darden is a physical CB prospect with the size and speed profile to play at the FBS level. He comes in at 6’1 185 and showcases good speed when he opens up his stride. Darden is best playing in off-man coverage where he can read and react to underneath route concepts. When he breaks on the ball, he does a good job of using his length to attack the catch pocket and knock the ball to the turf. He is still refining his press man technique and learning to flip his hips, but he plays with good closing speed and tries to play through the hands of the WR, even when he can’t locate the ball. He appears comfortable coming downhill and pursuing the football. He engages and dodges blockers well and is active around the football. Darden holds several FBS offers and is not done adding more.

is a DB prospect that’s been really impressive to watch at both Hoover and Spain Park the last few seasons. Darden has some real talent to him on both sides of the ball, but projects more to defense at DB. Darden’s size, coverage skills, and tackling are really really dependable- he can make plays all around the field and does so often. Darden is especially good at jarring the ball loose from opposing wide receivers, he does a great job using his arm length to break up passes. Keep an eye on him heading into next fall, I think there’s a good chance we see a really strong breakout season from him!
